Alley Tree Company cut our oak tree down and left all these large I mean large chunks. If you're not going to remove these at least cut them smaller so they can be moved from my yard. These are so large I spent all weekend cutting them down to a smaller size so I I can dispose of them. I don't have an industrial chainsaw it was almost impossible for me to cut these. They ruined my old rosemary bush. My backyard looked like a bomb went off. I am so angry. read more

Simply outstanding!!! We have used AT&L twice now. Both times, they provided a reasonable and thorough quote. Both times, they did more than contracted to do...just to do it right, and did not charge a penny more. Their crews are professional, engaging and work their tails off. I watched them all day as they carefully removed quite a bit of large timber. After connecting with the crew to say goodbye, I watched them drive away and went back to the house. I then heard the shredder start up again and looked out the window. The crew drove down my road, noticed some dead branches just off the road that we had forgotten to include. They took the time and effort to grab these and mulch it all. In 2023, where do you find workers and companies that do MORE than you asked for and don't charge you for it. The experience more than made my day and this is one check I am happy to write. When needed, we will see you next time around my friends. Les, Dan and Curt comprise one of the best work teams that I have seen in a long time. I was very disappointed with the work done, or in my case not done by Alley tree service. I had contracted with them in late fall of 2019 to remove a dead tree and trim all trees for fire safety on my property. They have never completed the work, honored my requests, responded to my written letter with supportive documents and photos, nor returned any of my calls and emails, which I have sent over the last 6 months. Terrible customer service and work ethic! Specifically: I was not home in December 2019 when they did what they did or I would've said something then. I requested that they leave the dead cedar wood logs, to which they agreed, but they did not. They also did an incomplete job trimming (trimming only one side of some trees and not getting all lower branches). When I did see what had happened I was leaving for an extended visit with relatives out of state. I paid the bill because I wanted to take care of all bills before I left, and my neighbor assured me they were good folks and would complete the job. I sent my check with a written letter with my complaints and photos of what was not completed, asking for them to return and complete the job. For the next 6 months, I sent emails and called several times in regards to this issue. I emailed detailed records of the contract, and emails verifying their promises to me along with photos of the work not completed. I left recorded phone messages and spoke with actual human employees who said they could not help me and I would need to speak directly to the owner who has never returned my calls. To this day I have never received a reply from anyone at the company. As a consequence I ended up hiring another firm to complete the work. I have documentation of these claims and intend to report "Alley" to the better business bureau. I have never written a bad review on Yelp, but I wouldn't want a trusting person like me to hire them without knowing this was how I was treated. I am also considering filing in small claims court, just on principle. read more

They are very professional and knowledgeable in their expertise. They came out and made my trees that the previous house owner never maintained to a clean and well trimmed state. They even told us about the mistletoe problem we had and had no clue about. They cut it off and wrapped it to prevent future growth. They not only cleaned up my property after they were done they ensured he street and neighbors driveway was clean from dust and leaves. I contacted Alley Tree and Landscape in October 2020 to inquire about having a trench dug and a row of hedges planted in it. Dean told me he was booked until late April 2021. He emailed me an estimate which I agreed to and he put me in his schedule calendar. When the end of April approached I had not heard from Dean so I contacted him to ask when he was planning on showing up. He sounded as if he had never heard of me or perhaps completely forgot about my job. He contacted me a couple of days later and and said he found a couple of guys to do the job. It turned out they were just a couple of guys he knew that did not work for him. One of them owned the tractor necessary to dig the trench for the hedges. The other was his helper friend. They knew nothing about landscaping or planting. Dean gave them verbal instructions over the phone on how to plant the hedges and was not present the entire time the planting went on. The guys were in a hurry to finish that day and the hedges were not planted correctly. All they did was dig the trench, threw some fertilizer tablets in the trench, put the hedges in, filled the unamended soil that was dug out back in (rocks and all) and spread the amendment soil I paid for on top without creating a basin around the plant bases for water retention. This is not the correct way to plant. This is: After the trench was dug a layer of amended soil (i.e. native soil mixed together with amendment soil) should have been laid in the bottom of the trench and the entire trench should then have been thoroughly wetted with water and allowed to soak in. Then the root balls of each hedge should have been thoroughly soaked with water and placed in the trench. Then the mixed amended soil should have been filled in and and compacted around each plant to prevent air pockets and then each plant should have had a water basin formed around the base. Unfortunately this correct procedure for planting did not happen. The hedges immediately went into severe shock and started dying. The leaves turned brown and dried up and started falling off. I contacted Dean after the two weeks had gone by and he told me not to worry and emailed he his instructions of how to water them. He sent his field supervisor over to look at the hedges. That person agreed that the hedges were in severe shock and said to give the hedges 90 days and if they still were not doing well that Alley Tree Service would warranty them. After three months of following Dean's advice to the letter the hedges have gone from bad to worse and are continuing to die. They do not appear that they are going to survive. I contacted Dean towards the end of the 90 day period asking him to please advise and he did not respond to an email or a text message. To date I have made no demands of him, all I have asked for is his help. I have treated him with respect but I feel he has treated me very disrespectfully by ignoring me. I'm out several thousands of dollars and he does not seem to care or want to help me out. As an addendum: The day his "friends" came over to put the hedges in I asked Dean to give me a quote for a backyard pavilion. He sent me a quote for $41,000 of which $31,000 was just for the pavilion. He included a picture of what he said it would look like and I immediately recognized it as one I saw at the Modesto Home Depot for $31,000. I did some homework online and found a much nicer looking pavilion from a company in Sacramento for $11,000 which includes the pavilion and the labor to install it. I'm not saying Dean was trying to take advantage of me, but...... Well, I'll leave that to anyone that reads this review to make their own decision. Needless to say, I will not ever do business with Dean again nor will I refer him to anyone. read more

We had 2 large bull pines infested with invasive mistletoe and also in need of trimming, along with another large pine tree. We called Alley Tree Service and they responded very quickly. They made the effort to get to our project quicker than anticipated and did an excellent job. Everyone we interacted with from the initial meet through completion were friendly, professional and did the best job we could have hoped for and best service we have had in this type of matter. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend Dean & his crews to anyone in the Greeley Hill area for tree or landscaping work. First, Dean, an arborist - not just a tree trimmer - came and gave me a free consult & no charge for driving the hour here. He showed me how to check for pine beetles and evaluated each and every tree (about 30 pine, cedars and oak), answered all my questions about options for treatment, watering, & which trees needed to be cut down and others trimmed. I wanted healthy trees and fire safe property. Dean provided all that and more - professionalism, right equipment, experienced/well-trained crew and a reasonable price. He did everything he said he was going to do. It was an easy choice to pick Dean over two other consults from other companies. I researched the information I received from all the consults and Dean's recommendations definitely matched all the information I found in my research. He has been prompt, knowledgeable, experienced, personable and professional. I have two special trees - a black oak and cedar each about 6-8' in diameter and over 100' tall that I was most concerned about and wanted an arborist, not just a tree cutter - I wanted them to be healthier and not butchered. The oak had lots of mistle toe and dead limbs; the cedar lots of dead limbs. Two other large pines were leaning badly and crowding out two other trees. A small forested area needed to be thinned out and lower branches cut off to make it more fire safe. He only found 1 pine with the pine beetle. He recommended treating most the pines with a chemical to prevent the pine beetle - he's used it successfully on over 4000 trees and gave me the actual research using it vs. other chemicals. He also recommended treating the oak with phosphorous to help it. Two crews (6 men) worked diligently on all the trees, leaving the black oak and cedar looking beautiful! Neighbors have called to say how great they look now and were so happy that I had the work done! The forested area is safer and will give the trees there a better chance to be stress free and beetle free. The pines were felled, cut into logs and placed on my next door neighbors property for them to use as fire wood. They took great care to only cut out what was necessary every place they worked. The pines were treated with the chemical. They worked fast, carefully, safely and every crew member was personable and professional. They had all the equipment necessary to do the job promptly (2.5 days) and cleaned the property so that you didn't even know they had been here. They left me the chipped wood that I wanted right where I asked. I was so pleased I had Dean gravel and roll my 150' driveway/parking area - again a beautiful job completed in about 1/2 day. It should last for years! I'm so happy with this work, that Dean will be doing my landscaping for me, too. read more

Alley tree service recently took down 33 dead pine trees on my five acre property in Tuolumne. The experience, care, and quality of work was evident from the minute that Dean arrived to assess what needed to be done. He and Dave spent about an hour and 15 minutes looking at each tree that was to be removed, assessing size and location, and strategizing the best approach for the overall job. Once work began, Dean's crew exhibited a high level of respect for me as a customer and also for the property itself. I had expected there to be a lot of clean up for me to do once they finished but there wasn't. The crew did it all leaving the property in as good a shape as it was before the work began.
