My garage door handheld opener went bad. No, a battery didn't help. So I called Allied and asked if they sold the opener and if they did I would come by their place a buy it. The lady said yes they could sell me one but that a guy would have to come to my home. She even said she would waive the trip charge. Sounded ok to me so I agreed. The young man came out (an hour and a half late for the appointment), looked at my old one a pronounced it dead (which I already knew). So he sold me a new one for $141.32 and left. I got to wondering if that wasn't really overpriced and went to my friend Google. Turns out you can buy the opener online for about $60.00. Allied Doors Now Mo' Better Garage Doors are out gouging clients after Hurricane Ian. We had 2 doors installed by them a little over a year ago. The entire job for removing old and replacing doors, lifters, sensors, key pad etc was $3,100. We just had them out to replace sensors and they stated rollers needed to be replaced and they quoted $1,800 for the rollers alone!!!! Charged almost $700 for sensors! Huge rip off! Liftmaster is here now and is replacing rollers, giving us a new keypad and remotes for $400! Allied/Mo Better is gouging thier customers. Also happened to our neighbor withthem. read more

Agreed to a $59.00 fee for them to come out and see if the door could be repaired. It could not so I arranged for an estimate. (They failed to mention there would be a $2.25 credit card fee.) Person came out on 4-4 to do the estimate. He wanted to show it to me on his laptop, I asked him to send it to me via email, which he agreed to do. He verbally quoted the least expensive option, as I remember it, at about $5,400. I again asked him to send it to me via email and he again agreed, but I sensed some reluctance on his part. On 4-5, having not received the estimate I called the company and requested of the woman who answered that the email be sent to me. She said she would contact the estimator and pass along the message. On 4-6, having still not received anything, I called and spoke to the same woman. I asked to speak to the owner or manager. I was told neither was available and that she would have the manager call me, and she would also send another request to the estimator. It is now after business hours on the 6th and I have received neither the call back nor the estimate. I received another estimate from a long established local company of $3,480. I needed the estimate from Allied for my insurance company. Those are the facts. My sense of what happened is that since I didn't sign up for their wildly inflated cost on the spot they have no interest in sending an estimate they know will look like just what it is compared to others: a ripoff. read more
