When we were looking for a photographer for our wedding, I came across a list of the top photographers in Chicago. Of course, Allison was on that list and I took one look at her work and my search was over. I really wanted a photographer to capture the special moments and raw emotions of the day through photos and she is really amazing at doing just that. Her work is BEAUTIFUL. Breathtaking. Allison did an awesome job at our recent wedding. The preview of pictures is amazing and she perfectly captured the joy of our day - we can't wait to see the rest. We decided that our biggest splurge for the wedding would be the photographer - we wanted to get wonderful pictures - and we did. I was impressed with her creativity and her flexibility. She was excellent about asking questions and making sure we captured everything we wanted, but she never once added to any of the stress of the day, which goes a long way in my book. She knows what she's doing and does it cheerfully. She and her assistant came up with cool and creative ideas for photos and utilized the area we had our wedding in really well - it was a garden wedding and she was all over the place - up in the barn, taking pictures from above, setting up lights in the underbrush to create an amazing silhouette photo of my husband and I, etc. She obviously has a great eye and captures lovely moments - both posed and not. Let me start by saying photography was probably the most important thing to us. We spent a lot of time researching and interviewed several photographers. Allison seemed like the most dedicated and talented. Her reviews were amazing and her pictures were equally as amazing. Fast forward to the wedding. I had to ask to get a group picture of my bridesmaids and I while getting ready and the response was "we don't really have time but ok real quick". If I didn't ask, I wouldn't have had that shot. During the ceremony, the groomsmen were lined up rather close to the chuppah so there are no clear shots of us with our families without the groomsmen partially obstructing the shot. She didn't take any portrait style pictures of me in my dress. Around 10pm we saw her packing up and asked her if she was leaving. She replied with "yes" and we said it's too early to leave, everyone just started dancing. We even offered to pay her extra if she needed, but she replied with a point blank "no". Aaron (the groom) fortunately had a few shots of him and his friends during the reception. I (the bride) have none. There is a large gap from the service delivered vs what we were anticipating for somebody so highly rated. We are so regretful that we chose Allison to capture our special day. Though the photos that were delivered were high quality, there was way too much missing for us to feel anywhere near satisfied. We simply do not recommend her. read more

They spent the ENTIRE day with us as we prepared and into the night all the way to our late-night snacks. Their photojournalism style best documents emotions, people's faces, stolen & funny moments that would have been lost to memory but somehow they immortalized them in photos. The portraits and candid shots are phenomenal and we are so grateful to have them. In terms of still life, the photos of the table centerpieces turned out gorgeous but we're still waiting on some decor scenes. Allison is talented, but I have to say I was majorly disapointed by what she provided. In our original interview she had said she provides about 600 images for a typical wedding which is what I was expecting to get. However we got something closer to 300, most of which were very similar shots. There was very little variety and I felt like she just wanted to get going and not hang around to do more shots after our event (even though we paid in full for whole day coverage). While she has a good eye for composing a picture, I don't really think she photographs people well (my husband is fair, but he did have somewhat of a tan from the summer, but in all the photos he looks like a ghost and I myself am olive toned but look pretty fair). Many details of our wedding were not covered (thankfully I had a friend and my sister who took photos and each of them gave me more shots than what our photographer provided). Allison was basically there for the big things and took maybe 50 shots of those and then she kind of took a break the rest of the time (a few people commented where the photographer was a few times during the day). Our family portrait time was pretty rushed and there were a few people we missed in the shots. Most of my husband's relatives haven't seen each other in a long time and this was like a family reunion and we hardly have any photos of them. All my relatives live overseas and since they couldn't attend I was hoping we'd have more shots of my immediate family so I can share with them, but again not very many. I would just caution others to make sure to review images of a full wedding if you can (and not of one that is posted online). When you look at blogs and websites you will only see the best of what a photographer does and not what you may end up getting. We wanted to splurge on the photographer as documenting the day was important for us, so we were okay with paying more; however, I feel like I paid a lot and hardly got anything in return. read more
