Great instructors and time for my kiddos! They love gymnastics there. I love the make up policy for missed classes.

No matter what your level of experience the teachers at the Columbia Dance Center will work to your level, one on one, and bring out the inner dancer in you. The entire staff is highly experienced, dedicated and passionate about dance. Every person who walks through the door is valued, respected and seen. I have decades of dance classes behind me and I have never loved dance so much as since I found this studio. They don't teach only to the best students and leave the rest in the dust, as has been my experience in other studios. They support, respect and uplift every single dancer. The curriculum they teach is consistent among all the instructors and is very thorough. My primary instructor is Ellias and he's a Jedi Master, I swear. I learn soooo much every lesson and have a blast doing it. You have the opportunity to work with all of the instructors and practice with them. They are all so generous with their knowledge. Kindness is the culture. No snobby attitude here! People of every age, background, ability, physicality, all levels, get 100%, no dancer left behind. It is so inspiring to watch some of the people who have worked to become Incredible, competitive dancers and know they started out just like you or I did. I don't aspire to compete, just to enjoy some hot Latin social dancing, but it is fun to watch Dancing with the Stars in real life.. I am happily hooked and am here for group classes and group practice parties in addition to my private lessons many times a week. That's where you get to meet the whole community of dancers like you to practice and friendships are made. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at this Arthur Murray in Columbia. Come on and give yourself the gift of joyful movement, you will never regret it.

Found this gym for junior Olympic weightlifting for my daughters who are 8 and 11. We live 45 mins…read moreaway and sacrifice the drive to come here for the weightlifting lifting team. The sacrifice is similar to most parents I know who do the same sacrificial drive to one of the best gymnastics gyms in the area. This junior weightlifting team is the only one I know of in town when I was looking for one. I think there are many weightlifting clubs or barbell clubs in this area but not for young kids that offer training to someone as young as one of my daughters who are 8 and 11 years old. This place offers an outstanding weightlifting foundation for kids starting 8 years old (probably even younger if one is able to grasp the concept). We discovered this gym March 6th and my girls went to their first weightlifting meet April 15th and have done extremely well. The girls have great form and the junior weightlifting coach/owner ensures they are doing their lifts safely. We want safety first and prevent injuries. This coach also coaches adult weightlifters. The gym has a lot of weights, dumbbells, rowers and air-bikes. Four platforms noted. They have boxes too for box jumps and rings for ring rows, dips and muscle ups. They have a rig for pull-ups and kettlebells. Aesthetically, it is better than some gyms I have been too. The place still smells like fresh paint. Bathrooms are big with showers and are approved for persons with disabilities. Whenever I can, I join their group fitness class. Since the gym is still new, the class times offered are 4:30-5:30 and 5:30-6:30 at this time. The 5:30 class is perfect and matches the kids training session, starting at 5:30. More class times are planned as the gym gets more members who request other class times. The coaching from Coach Robbie is very good. I only expect the best from a CF teams competitor. I really like his programming but he seems so shy though and doesn't talk much. I need a little more encouragement from Robbie because I am not a super athlete like the other guys he coaches. I am not familiar with all kinds of fitness training and other varied exercises. I am someone who you need to teach and explain things to. I can be a challenge. Again, I like his programming with exercises that is suppose help with stabilization. I also experienced great coaching from tall Anthony (Olympic Weightlifter/CF coach). He is very personable and explains each movement well and explains what muscles we should expect to feel the sore or the burn. Provides good modification so that I can still do a workout and feel the burn. Thinks of safety first to prevent injury and will push you throughout your workout. I need this kind of encouragement. He also makes the workout more fun and less intimidating. There's the Owner/Olympic Weightlifting Coach Anthony who is extremely knowledgeable with fitness, core strength and stabilization. When there's no class, I workout on my own. Once in a while the coach/owner can't help and notice my mistakes, so he will chime in from the other end of the gym and tell me to fix my leg or my arms when I'm practicing an Olympic weightlifting movement. I feel bad and do not like asking guidance from him while he is busy coaching the kids, but he will chime in anyway... and my kids tease me about it and my form (lol). But, it's nice getting unsolicited help :) This gym is new and is working on building its community. Come, and be a part of it! This gym offers superb training on junior weightlifting, adult weightlifting and fitness training. If you want to get better at your weightlifting, come here! This is a great place to learn weightlifting no matter your age. The coach/owner will help you. If you are a parent like me who has kids that are interested in weightlifting, have your kids join the team. Start them with a good strong foundation. As the team parent, I look forward to workout with you in this gym while we wait for our weightlifting athlete finish their daily training session. You can also go next door to the brewery and have a beer while waiting. If you have really small kids or other kids not interested in lifting... they have a bouncy house and a swim school next door to keep them entertained for the next 2 hours. I am so excited for the future of this gym and for the future of junior weightlifting athletes that come through here. Keep an eye on this weightlifting team and follow us on Instagram and FaceBook. Follow this gym @crossfitchoptank and discover their athletes. #teamchoptank #choptankathlete #choptankathletes #choptankparents

How can a "Crossfit" box receive a 1 star rating...by having a micro-managing owner, that's how. I…read morewill start by saying that the Crossfit Coach, at the time, was exceptional with his programming, encouraging words, and helpful attitude. I would have loved to stay at this box for years to come but the owner, Anthony Hernandez, is none of those to the crossfitters. He micro-managed by saying what music we could listen to, the temperature of the box (it would be so hot that you thought you would puke during the warm up), whether the bay doors could be open, and he's not much of a truth teller. He told us on multiple occasions that equipment and upgrades to the box were coming and none of that happened. He did get bikes and rowers but we were promised more rig and the floor to be finished. I can attest that the bathrooms were not cleaned or if they were it was very infrequent. We had to bring in our own hand soap, had to remind him constantly about paper towels to dry our hands, there is no water fountain/station to fill our bottles so we took it upon ourselves to bring in cases of water for the entire box to use. We brought our own chalk, white board markers, equipment....and none of that was appreciated. Never a thank you. He didn't want anyone else to have a key to the place even though it was a hassle for him to make it during the offered class times (there was a time he didn't make it at all and said it was traffic, we checked and there was none - liar!). He is not one to talk face-to-face about issues, he would give all the bad news to the coach to deliver. When the head coach wasn't there, he would have to "coach" and it was pretty much us warming up on our own and talking about the workout on our own. What's even worst is that, if you ever go against him by say cancelling a membership, he will make sure you can't come to his facility (who wants to go back) and block you on social media. People warned us of this guy before but nobody listened. I'm glad that I moved to Choptank b/c I was able to develop a good friendship with the other athletes and coach. If the owner didn't micro-manage, he could have had a thriving Crossfit facility.

It's free! You might know it only as an event venue, but there's: * Nice walking trails and farm country views. * A few segments would count as hiking if you want to introduce somebody! * Creekside access in the woods. Fiddling around a natural creek is a formative experience * A selection of beautiful older trees that survived from colonial times * Including a massive ancient white oak, Maryland's state tree and quite rare now. If you've never seen a "big tree" in person this is a must-see. It has presence. * Restored buildings and history displays * A resident ambassador owl. Go closer to dusk to see him active * Restored natural meadows (great macro photography) * Examples of bee keeping, different types of gardening, etc. Lots to play / do / learn, or for us older folks, walking around and taking photos. A couple of notes: * hours on maps are for the venue, the grounds are actually open dawn-to-dusk * the hiking is pretty mild but there's a lot to see. * alltrails isn't accurate for many of the paths, but everything is really well signed (or grab the map from their own website) * if you're doing the full circuit of trails, wear those ankle-support shoes/boots - it might seem silly for the easy terrain, but the angle of the farm trails is "hard" in sneakers, and you'll appreciate that support. Enjoy it! Another Howard County gem.

So, I got to check out the grounds around the main building before the bride and groom arrived for rehearsal. They have a wonderful wandering Garden with Fountains and water features. In addition to the new main structure, they have Historical buildings and Summer camps.

While they have a few locations, this specific one is located off of Crain Highway. The front door is actually in the back of the building, and there is ample parking. They offer three party reservation spots on Saturdays. Included in our package was exclusive use of the entire space, a bounce house, a ball pit, a trampoline, a slide, a climbing wall, a zipline, a swing, and so much more! Additionally, two dedicated staff members led circle time, a puppet show, bubbles, and parachute play. To top it all off, the reservation included pizza, juice boxes, and grip socks for the kids. I can't say enough great things about this place. The staff was incredibly friendly, there were a ton of games to keep the kids engaged, and the two-hour slot felt like the perfect amount of time. In fact, my kid didn't want to leave! If you have a little one, I highly recommend signing up for a class or planning their next party here.

It's now a part of our weekly schedule to get her out and about. The location is colorful, playful and always inviting. The facility is massive -- it almost feels like a mall. There's a cafe, indoor pool, plenty of fitness areas, and spacious locker rooms. Everything felt very clean here which is a plus. The Sunday 10:45am vinyasa class was advertised as "medium heat" but it barely felt heated. The instructor wasn't my favorite and the flow felt clunky and disorganized. Her queueing wasn't very clear and if I were a newbie yogi, I'd be pretty confused. Most of the class was spent in child's pose or savasana and I would've preferred more time to flow and play. The studio itself is fairly small for the size of the rest of the gym. As a guest recently, I had to download the app in order to get my guest pass which was pretty annoying. I've never seen another gym do that and didn't appreciate the extra hoops to jump through. But the crazy expensive cost is not worth it. It feels like all the money goes to extras like the sitting areas, pickleball courts, classes that cost additional money, etc. The only gym area is the second floor, and even that is taken up by classes. Machines are often broken and dirty, kids are CONSTANTLY running around unsupervised and playing on the equipment, and the gym etiquette has taken a severe hit. You see people filming, reading up multiple machines, sitting for an hour while scrolling, and not putting things back. I had to change my workout so many times because the free weights were missing entire bands of weights. Again, the staff is incredibly kind and nice. But the gym does not deserve the almost $200 a month price point. I would pay $40.
