Since my kid is a toddler, I was looking for an indoor play space where they wouldn't get run over by older kids. After a quick search, I stumbled upon My Gym (Columbia). While they have a few locations, this specific one is located off of Crain Highway. The front door is actually in the back of the building, and there is ample parking. They offer three party reservation spots on Saturdays. Included in our package was exclusive use of the entire space, a bounce house, a ball pit, a trampoline, a slide, a climbing wall, a zipline, a swing, and so much more! Additionally, two dedicated staff members led circle time, a puppet show, bubbles, and parachute play. To top it all off, the reservation included pizza, juice boxes, and grip socks for the kids. I can't say enough great things about this place. The staff was incredibly friendly, there were a ton of games to keep the kids engaged, and the two-hour slot felt like the perfect amount of time. We tried My Gym a month before our daughters first birthday to see if it would be a good location for her first birthday. (We had children 4 months -10 years old who all enjoyed activities held for her party) The intro class was free and showed us the whole structure which includes a structured class for your littles to be entertained and begin learning some new skills. Our daughter has learned how to confidently climb stairs, feel comfortable in various different swings/rocking activities and inversions. Which has been amazing to see as she has grown. It's now a part of our weekly schedule to get her out and about. The location is colorful, playful and always inviting. We have been to different classes and each teacher has been amazing with all littles in their instruction, story telling and during puppet shows. 10/10 recommend My Gym read more

My gym is the best experience you could ever do for your child from baby to 8yo. We've been coming for over two years and have made friends and built our village through the amazing people that also come to my gym. The staff is so uplifting and energetic that my daughter looks forward to seeing all of them and builds connections with all of them especially with the director and weekend director. We could not have made a better choice as parents who didn't know what to do with a 10month old who couldn't do a whole lot. We had our daughter's 3rd birthday party at MyGym Columbia and it was awesome! She and all her guests had a great time. We did the Premier Package and we got so many compliments that her MyGym party was the best birthday party they've ever been to! We loved that it was a private party and we had the entire facility. MyGym incorporated all her favorite songs in the playlist, including adding, "The More We Get Together" to the activities - our daughter was singing it as she went to bed  And the staff? Amazing! I probably won't be going back. I was very disappointed in this experience for my boys. They exaggerated the level of help I would have with my twins. As one parent sitting down in a class with two children in my lap, I was unable to guide them both through the warmup exercises. They told us on the phone that there would be a teacher who would help us with that. The "help" was to put one of my boys back near me if he wandered off, and then she'd walk away so we could repeat this cycle. She sat down with him for one exercise, so about 30 seconds. The "class" was about 8 minutes of some warmup movements in a group circle, and then free play for most of the next hour. I could have taken them to a playground and had the same experience without the aggravation of having them try to follow the instructions being shouted over the sound system. The music was blasting too loudly and I couldn't hear what the teacher was saying most of the time. So after a few minutes I gave up and let the twins just play as they wanted on the gym equipment. Turns out that what the class was anyway. After another couple minutes in circle time the rest of the kids were doing free play on the gym equipment. Not much of a class, really. The teachers hung some equipment from the overhead supports and laid out a climbing course, but there was no real guidance through it or instruction. The room itself is not totally safe. And I'm not talking about the play equipment. There are unlocked, unlockable doors that lead to a party room, an office, and a supply room, which have toddler-friendly handles in reach of toddlers. I had to redirect them from each of these doors at least once. After a time of free-play, the teachers had everyone sit on one side of the room and they did something with the play equipment and then the class was over. I'm not going to say my boys didn't have fun. They liked exploring the room and the play equipment, I don't feel like they took part in a gymnastics class in any way. I don't feel like a service was provided at all. I felt like they were at a pretty small indoor playground. I don't feel like this is worth a couple hundred a month to keep going, at least not without another person to help. read more

My daughter and I have been to My Gym for a free class and a birthday party and we have had: BIG TIME FUN! During my free class I learned that they have scheduled classes by age group. In order for child participate in My Gym they must have a membership and monthly dues paid. I cant remember the membership cost but the monthly dues is $79. Yes I know that that is costly but what I like to remember is the skills that my daughter will learn by having fun. The classes includes song, dance, and exercise. Children pick up on social skills. Child are required to show up once a week. Make up any classed missed. They are also allowed to come in during free play. A schedule must me done in advance online. Biggest Positive about My Gym Is once a child get a membership they are members for life and get a free My Gym shirt. Birthday parties seemed to be a breeze when throwing it at My Gym. My Gym staff orchestrates the party and activities. They have a side party room the can be used for cake. During the party its kinda lke free play. They have all the equipment set up for all the children to climb on. My favorite is when they put the swings up for the babies and children to enjoy. The music that they play is a hit with babies and kids. All staff is friendly and willing to work with parents. Babies and Children are not allowed to wear socks on the floor. Parents are encourage to participate and are allowed to keep socks on. They have evenings where parent can drop their kids off for three hours to have date night or to run errands. This program is for children three and up. Even non members can bring their children in. Negatives: *smells like feet when entering lol *costly membership *have to sign up for class advance Other than that I am excited to try the membership out for July! July they celebrating customer appreciation with unlimited classes in July. read more

An update: I've continued going to My Gym with my son now. They've moved to a new location with a room set aside for parties. The kids have tables to sit at now. I really miss the teachers that leave, but they keep hiring fantastic people. They love the kids. And I mean that. They greet the kids enthusiastically by name and remember them week to week like they're pals. read more

We are from out of town but Summer in Maryland so my 5 year old son attends a MyGym in Texas for classes but did the summer camp here in Columbia. He loves the camp and the coaches! The coaches here have been very sweet and extremely helpful from the get go. I emailed before we got out here and they responded quickly and on point. You also can't beat the fact that they have these camps every week with some full day options. The only odd thing is that Fridays are short. read more

I must say, I was shocked when I learned there was a gym exercise program for babies and toddles. I couldn't fathom in my "old mind" what actives would be available. Boy, was I truly impressed when I got the chance to take my granddaughter Rayne to one of her classes. Yes, my granddaughter has a membership to the gym. Scheduled weekly workout routines. When you first enter the door you see the MyGym logo of a monkey and the colors of blue and yellow around the walls. The floor is covered with blue and red mats. The room is divided in different work stations that works on coordination and building skills. The parallel bars working on balance and endurance. The slide, the wall climb and ball pit adds to the overall fun and excitement the children enjoy. Like an adult gym the children move in stations around the room. Their warm-up and warm-down is done in "circle time" while a story is being read aloud. They also do birthday parties. read more

We've attended many different MyGym locations and my 2yr old loves it. The only bump in star is due to the music. It is often way too loud and I agree with the previous post about the yelling sometimes - the music may be annoying for adults but more concerning is it's actually very damaging for little ears which are way more sensitive/still developing and what seems loud to our ears is amplified even more for them :-/ This location seems a little better about the music volume but in general MyGym Corp branding should consider the decibel levels and set brand standards across the board. Otherwise the teachers, activities, everything about this program is TERRIFIC. The space is well spread out, clean, and you can tell the teachers really enjoy their job. My son loves the high energy, ever-changing obstacles and enjoys the positive engagement from the staff. read more

We love MyGym. Anyone who has been knows that the staff is very knowledgeable and they truly take the time to get to know all the kids. Some of the staff members may seem young (not a problem for our family) but they have the energy to keep up with all the various demands of the class. Honestly, I think the staff there covers a good range and again, appropriate for the center. As for the music, it is perfect! Not too loud and not too obnoxious! The different activities and skills from week to week are appropriate for the age range of our child and we love watching him develop and take risks. I am still impressed by the lessons each week. The room is changed every week which is always new and exciting for the kids. My son is never bored and he loves going to see Ms. Dana and Ms. Brynn (just to name a few). "Open play" is also a great opportunity to just have fun without the structure of the class, added bonus in our book. We haven't had a party there yet but I hear it is loads of fun and there is a separate room for the food and gifts. If you are thinking about signing up....hesitate no longer! You will not regret it and you really can't ask for a more patient and caring staff! read more

Great idea, poor execution. We attended a trial class, and will not be returning. All the music activities were recorded on a CD, and the instructors didn't even try to sing along with them. As soon as the music was turned on, my son started crying and holding his ears. The music was really loud, and the instructors shouted us through the warmups like aerobics instructors. I asked them if they could turn it down, and I was informed "we usually do it loud." I worry about my child's hearing being damaged from exposure to overly loud music. I am concerned that a facility that claims to help children's development is contributing to overstimulation and desensitization. I don't want to pay a large fee so that college girls can push play on a CD of recorded activities. Sorry, My Gym, you are not for us. read more

I love this place. It keeps kids fit, gives them confidence, throws excellent birthday parties, and for the most part, has very cool staff (I'm talking about you Mr. Patrick!) The only thing I would change is that the "free play" session you get along with your class is not really held at a time when kids who go to school or daycare can easily make it. I recently had a birthday party here for my 1 year old twins and we were BLOWN AWAY! The staff is always excellent and very much involved in the childrens activities & learning. Our party host, Liberty, was outstanding! She was very nice, fun and helpful. She was able to keep our 20 little party goers engaged the entire time. We love MY GYM, especially the Columbia location. We had guests from age 6 mos- 8 yrs old and there was something for everyone to enjoy. The party room was a nice size and came with a few decorations. We only do not have a membership because of the pricey cost, especially since I have twins, but I really hope to be able to afford for them to join MY GYM one day because our whole family loves it. Not just a little kids gym! My daughter is 8 years old and LOVES coming here! Through the years she has done different classes here, all of them have been challenging, and taught her different skills, cheerleading, sports and gymnastics. We have loved My Gym since starting our son there at 18 months old. When we showed up for our trial class, the staff was super sweet and lots of fun and that didn't change after we signed up. We LOVE Miss Michiko, Miss Dana, and Miss Cheryl. Our son is always greeted with excitement by name when he walks through the door and he doesn't stop laughing and smiling the whole time he's there. We also take advantage of Parents' Night Out. I was apprehensive the first time we tried it but it was wonderful! We snuck back in for a peek and all of the staff was really engaged with the kids, not just letting them sit in corners. Highly recommend this gym! read more

My Gym deserves more than 5 stars!! Our sons (ages 34 months and 22 months) have been going to mygym crofton since each of their first birthdays. From our first visit when my oldest was 13 months I have never had a bad experience. Apart from their newly renovated bright, clean, and kid friendly facility, the real draw is the teachers. All of the teachers are absolutely fantastic and my kids love every one of them! Jordynn is always super bubbly and full of energy. She has a way to draw all of the children (even my shy child) into every activity. Terrance has a way about him that always makes my boys feel special. The combination of planned activities and free play keep my children interested and get them used to structure. The use of "separation time" towards the end of class encourages my boys to socialize with other kids and CLEAN UP THEIR TOYS, the latter skill I am very proud to say has also transferred into our home!! The songs and stretches are contagious! I catch my boys "practicing" their stretches and singing the mygym songs during dinner, in the car, and at night when they are supposed to be asleep! Every time we drive past their convenient location right on rte 3 in Crofton, one of them shouts out "BYE BYE MAMA, BYE BYE (the closing song from mygym!!) Overall I would HIGHLY recommend mygym to any mom. read more
