I took the class to become more proficient in reloading for handgun cartridges. I was able to pickup a lot of information witch I wanted to get from a professional not just some you tube person preaching safe reloading methods. I just finished the two-day CCW training and could not be more impressed with this class. Very thankful for TJ (Michael Hernandez, too!) and the crew he assembled to assist us all weekend. Took the basic pistol class with my wife and daughter the other day. TJ was great and made everyone feel at home! The class was larger than expected with 15 attending but the the instructor had 2 assistants in the classroom and several more assistants on the range. We all enjoyed the course and came away with the confidence to handle a pistol safely. On the range we had the opportunity to try out 5 semi autos and 1 pistol progressing from .22 to .45. Overall a great intro course at a clean, modern, well run facility. read more

I just took the 16 hour CCW class this past weekend. It is the most active shooting that I have ever done in my life. The class was fun, TJ, the main instructor was amazingly thorough and informative, and there were many other assistant instructors that were at the range to help us through the whole process. When I explained to my uncle who has had his CCW for about 30 years all the shooting drills that we did, he said "that is pretty unusual, your lucky to have taken that course, your way ahead of most people with their CCW. I am so glad I chose this school over two other schools that I was considering - the price of the one was more than 2x as much and the other was recommended by the gun store owner where I purchased my last three guns, he said, "this instructor will not make you do much shooting"...like that would be a good thing?? This is a review for TJ's Handgun Skill Builder class I was looking for a handgun course that my brother in law and I could enjoy as a birthday gift for him and I found Allsafe defense systems website and not only do they have great reviews, but the cost for the class was not as much as others. So we gave it a try. And I am very glad I chose allsafe defense. Location: burro canyon shooting range Required: - handgun - holster - 4+ magazines (minimum 2 but you'll want 4) - mag holster - 300+ rounds of ammo - lots of water - if you are newer to shooting like myself get a mag loader. Loading 300 rounds is not only tedious but painful in new magazines. In the purchase email it stated most of that. Upon arriving to the shooting range, we didn't see any designation of the class, but it was ok, we just wanted in line like everyone else that day that was shooting in different groups etc, and the gentleman at the counter explained exactly where we would be. Each group is designated their own lot and we just hopped back in the car and drove up to the lot. The class is limited to I believe 15 shooters which I personally appreciated for the small group setting. We loaded up and TJ explained the safety first rule, the gun is always hot. Don't unholster your firearm unless you are on the line and told to. TJ's course teaches how to stop an attack and quickly because your life depends on it. Everything we did was directed precisely and his team ensured we followed directions for the safety of ourselves and others. The course covered various beginner skill drills ranging from -Sight picture (if eyes closed can you draw to target) -Grip (exactly that, are you pushing/pulling the trigger) -Magazine changes (speed and tactical and the benefits of each) -trigger reset (firing once reset) -5 step draw process -retention fire ( shooting quickly once out of holster -ending with the zipper (putting all steps combined and final shot as headshot) The last half or quarter of the class was shooting on a one step left or right move to simulate moving away from the attacker. The class was so enjoyable that I would not hesitate to take it multiple times. In fact I may soon and bring my wife next time. TJ teaches in a fun and enjoyable manner. I have only taken this course with TJ but I am sure his other courses are just as good. But don't take my word for it. I took my CCW class with TJ and his instructors two years ago and today I had my renewal with them. To renew your CCW, you really only need four hours. I had such a great experience with TJ the last time that I decided I wanted to completely redo the class. What a great experience! I was looking for an NRA-certified instructor of their "Personal Protection Outside the Home" course and due to the "situation" in California, there aren't many who teach this in southern California, but the professional online presentation left me inclined to make my appointment, as I've taken courses by other NRA-certified instructors and the high level of quality in the instruction you will receive is extremely consistent. How TJ and his team teach this course is no exception. These instructors are talented, effective communicators that are well equip, well prepared, and work highly efficiently. If classes run long, it's because the students might have a lot of questions or need more time to catch up. However, this team does not waste your time. Every single thing that they do and say ensures your safety and effectiveness, including making sure you understand how to carry, handle and operate your firearm in a way that is safe for yourself and those around you. This team works fast and furious, so don't be shy. If you need more information, or you shoot left-handed, ASK QUESTIONS. "For this, which way do I move? I'M LEFT-HANDED." They'll tell you. If you were paying attention, but couldn't hear an instruction, yell out, "WHAT AM I DOING?" You can't get hurt asking a possibly dumb question, only if you try to rush to do something you aren't absolutely sure you're doing correctly. Working with these guys, you're going to learn more in just a few hours than you will hanging out a range for days, shooting paper targets from behind a bench. And the point is to be able to use your firearm safely and effectively while you are subject to VERY unfavorable conditions (low light, stress, in fear of your life, confused, etc). Classroom presentation very helpful. Instructors were 5 star. My rating reflects my own difficulty as a result of wearing bifocals. I think individuals eye glasses and how it may affect your aiming ability should be a topic to be discussed. I also feel this impacted my ability to load a magazine.
