The class at Elite CCW was VASTLY superior to my previous experiences. Elite is truly in a league of its own. The facilities- Elite is truly concerned with the comfort of its students, and it shows. The classroom is large and air conditioned and the swiveled chairs were large and comfortable. We were greeted by dozens of azzorted donuts, refrigerators with a wide assortment of beverages, and friendly, efficient staff. Lockers were provided for our range gear, large enough to accommodate almost any size of bag. The shooting range is small (only four lanes at present, but they are moving to a larger location), but it was well lit and temperature controlled. They scheduled CCW range time efficiently, and I was easily able to qualify my firearm during the lunch break. (Pizza was provided!) As for the actual course content, it too was far superior to the other courses I've attended. Real-world cases were used often, which made the lessons more effective. Mike wisely and appropriately was training us in how to protect ourselves and our families, repeatedly reminding us to avoid conflict when possible and to not think being a CCW holder obligates us to "save the world." There were so many unique percs to the Elite CCW experience that I go on for several more paragraphs describing Mike's knowledge and experience, assistance with the CCW application process for CA, UT, & AZ, and more, but I think I've made my point. Elite CCW will be my resource for my firearms training and certification for as long as I can pull a trigger!

My teenage daughter wanted to take a training course for her birthday, and that is what we did, opting for the introductory pistol course. It was an interesting experience learning all of the detail and function behind these weapons, as well as getting to handle and become familiar with the different types, from the six-shooter to the 9-mm semi-automatic handguns. After watching an extensive training video, we got the opportunity to do some actual target shooting on the range. Our instructor was excellent and did a great job showing us how everything actually worked and providing useful tips on how to shoot. I would definitely recommend the training course for anyone with a curiosity about guns or if you simply want to know more about it. Five stars.

What really sets Roger apart is his depth of experience. His background in the military and as a shooting coach is obvious in the way he teaches. He explains things clearly, gives real world context, and focuses on building safe habits and confidence. You can tell he has spent years training others and knows exactly how to communicate effectively. The simulator training was one of the most valuable parts. It puts you in realistic situations and forces you to think through decisions, not just focus on shooting. It made the class much more engaging and practical. Roger also made the environment welcoming and comfortable and even provided snacks and refreshments during the class. The classroom portion was thorough, well-organized, and engaging. The instructor did a fantastic job covering everything required under the current California standards while keeping the material clear and practical. What stood out most was the hands-on instruction on the range. The instructor took the time to teach proper firearm grip and handling techniques drawn from his prior professional training experience. These methods made a noticeable difference and helped build real confidence with the firearm. The Long Beach training location was very convenient for me living in Lakewood. Scheduling was straightforward, the process was efficient, and everything needed for the LASD paperwork (Certificate of Completion and Shooting Proficiency Standards form) was handled smoothly and professionally. Overall, this was high-quality, no-nonsense training that prepared me well for the qualification and the rest of the CCW process. He breaks down fundamentals in a way that's easy to understand without ever talking down to you. You can tell right away you're learning from someone who takes safety and skill seriously. The wait was ridiculously long, and let's just say some of the employees seemed pretty impressed with themselves. I left thinking, "Yeah...probably not coming back." But a friend told me they had changed their system, so I decided to give them another shot and I'm glad I did. You can now make a reservation for your DROS and firearm pickup, which makes the whole process SO much smoother. No more wondering if you should've packed lunch and a sleeping bag for the wait. Even better, the staff has become much friendlier and more welcoming. It really feels like they listened to customer feedback and made some major improvements. Classes are well structured and cover real-world stuff. Straight to the chase, no bs, no gimmicks. This is real world training. Apparently not for the weak. People in these reviews complain that they can't book or have trouble leveling up, but I'm always able to book my classes in fact weeks out - and have been able to level up to their third tier in just my few months of training so perhaps it's a individual problem? I came in for a tour, but it just didn't feel right. The whole experience felt forced. There were some details that turned me away, but it's too petty and ridiculous to post here at the moment. They had openings the very next month, but since classes only have 8-9 students, it's hard to believe that it wasn't full already. Although the classrooms looked cool, and I enjoyed the tour, there was this feeling like they were only after students' money and not their well-being. I guess I would have preferred speaking with one of the teachers, and not a counselor/advisor that doesn't quite have the expertise in the field. They have the limited X-ray license program for a year with morning/evening options. I forget the pricing, but I was told that many students choose this private schooling because of the community college waiting lists. Also, the presentation was extremely short and felt like it was cut short. Regardless, I would personally rather go through public education somewhere like Cypress, Mt. SAC, El Camino, LACC, etc.
