Our backyard needed a lot of work and we had a simple vision and told Alex what we wanted.

We had a very good experience working with Northview Landscaping. Our project was large, involving…read morea new paver driveway, new public sidewalk, new turf install, new concrete and paver pathways, new wooden gates and a re-install of a paver patio. The project took a long time with several interruptions due to weather and permitting with the city. For a while it seemed like the sidewalk repair might not happen, but Juan and Freddie were able to work it out with the city and the new sidewalk looks great. Our new paver driveway looks amazing and has given us way more space. The new retaining wall curves around the corner to the street, which was a detail in the design that I really wanted, and they were able to deliver. So far after a few heavy rainstorms everything seems to be draining properly. The plants and landscaping are starting to fill in and I'm hoping that the plants thrive over the summer after some pretty nasty weather the last couple months. Perhaps the best part of the project has turned out to be the backyard where we replaced the grass lawn with turf and had the paver patio re-installed. It looks really nice and the dogs love it. I love that I don't have to spend hours weeding it and worrying about foxtails in dog feet or noses. There is still one step left before completion, since we ended up having to replace our sewer pipe to the street which left a small section of the paver driveway. Overall Northview did great work on a big job with some complicated permitting requirements. They were always respectful, polite and communicative. I'll definitely contact them again for future work and would recommend Northview Landscaping to friends and neighbors.

Prepare to pay 3 times the price. It's kinda crazy. Long story. Just watch out and ask for more…read morequotes

Such a disappointment Purchase Green ended up being. I hate writing this because I trusted their…read morewords of reassurance & apparent willingness to make things right. What happened? Well, we built a home in Santa Rosa's Fountain Grove neighborhood & were moving in during the winter months, with dogs. We were in dire need of back & side yard landscaping because we had clay mud everywhere from the rains! We met with 4 landscaping companies to do our synthetic grass & other landscaping. Far & beyond, we liked Purchase Green & in particular, the person they sent, Diego. He was communicative, warm, & discussed a product package in a timely manner that was more appealing to us than the others. During the process, we also met with a regional manager named Kyra, also friendly & communicative. Both Diego & Kyra were strenuously assuring that they would meet our needs & correct anything that went wrong. We felt assured & despite my having to have two surgeries in & around the hiring & overseeing of the project, we hired them largely because we did feel they had our best interest at heart. The installation of the grass was good & the paver work was too & sadly, that's where the good ended. Diego has a habit of bringing on "friends" as subcontractors for aspects of the project & unfortunately, left them unsupervised. The landscapers that did the planting of our numerous fruit trees & other plants were abysmal & left us with poorly planted trees that died or nearly died, inadequate irrigation that killed off plants around our pool & apparently did nothing to the surrounding soil (red clay) which left the roots unable to take hold. Tens of thousands of dollars wasted & a mess left in our back & side yards. I complained to Kyra & Diego, & well, "talk is cheap," comes to mind because they said all the right things but then didn't deliver. In fact, when I texted Kyra on the final day of a return visit by the horrible landscapers, I received zero response from her. Diego made excuses for everything. First, we were told that we didn't need window protection for sun glare on the grass; later we were told we did or they couldn't warrant the work. That ran us more money than was unanticipated. Then the fencing built around our pool equipment did not provide access for service people despite many stating access was essential; Diego argued that he explain it, etc.-- no accountability. Then, one of the doors Diego built stays open on the lower part which he tried to argue is because the wood needs a stain. There is simply no room in this review to include all the aspects of failure & ensuing excuses here. Each time they were here, there was damage to the house from their equipment coupled with subpar fixes-- this has cost us money in repairs. Also, they made a mess with handling the white sides of the house with muddy hands & more than once, we spent hours trying to clean it to no avail. We literally had the sides of the house repainted by the original painters at our cost. Also, I made the mistake of allowing them to use the brand new outdoor bathroom-- never again! They left it absolutely filthy & beyond what can be cleaned; again, we hired people to repaint it, inside & out. On the landscaper's final trip here, which was contentious, they took it upon themselves, without our permission, to use the outdoor bathroom which we had already repaired from their last visit. It is a mess again! They left the property leaving gates open, the bathroom a mess, & an inadequate job with the plants. I trusted them so much that it feels actually painful to know they didn't take the care I entrusted them with. I bought and fed them lunches & provided them with access to constant snacks & drinks. It would have been nice if they took as good a care with us & our property as we did of their needs. Writing this review was a hard decision, but I feel it's important that people know when choosing a company. We have since paid a new landscaper to fix everything they failed to do from the plants, irrigation and lighting. Final note, Kyra, the manager who purports to be there to oversee and ensure satisfaction has completely blown us off. She promised many things including to be back in touch regarding some turf issues and after speaking with "ownership." Absolutely nothing! No call, no text, only broken promises, again. Avoid this company no matter how charming they come across. False promises and a complete failure of any follow through.

My husband gave very clear and meticulous video instruction on how to manage our landscaping (incl. olive trees, hedges, lemon trees, etc) on a rental property. When we went to check on the property, it was a disaster. Trees that the original team had planted had grown in slanted. Today we learned that our mulberry tree, which can live to 300 years and fruits delicious berries every summer, died likely due to over pruning or suffocating from too much dirt on it when the landscape was leveled. Needless to say we terminated our work with them.

As a board member I volunteered to find a vendor for this project and didn't have time to hassle with flakey contractors. Torrey and Gardens of the Wine Country were a breeze to work with, they did what they said that they would do. I met with Torrey and his foreman who did a tour of the property, conducting a thorough inspection of the site and irrigation infrastructure that was there. There we a number of irrigation components that were missing or broken that he identified in his walk through. He put a bid together that was comprehensive, detailed, and most of all price competitive. Gardens of the Wine Country were significantly less that the two other bids that I received. On top of it, there was more detail in his bid than the others so that made me comfortable moving forward. Throughout the project Torrey was providing updates on progress, and raised a few issues that we had to work through, but great communication was the key. The result: the project was completed on time - about 3 weeks - exactly on budget and a year after we completed the work, it still looks great! I couldn't recommend Gardens of the Wine Country more highly!
