We caught Alvaro lying about serious mistakes in the electrical work that his team did as part of the package for doing our backyard. The improper wiring caused damage to our brand new hot tub. We had a third party inspect his work, which discovered additional electrical code violations and safety concerns. Unfortunately his response when we first told him about the bad wiring was to bring over his electrician and try to undo the mistakes without telling us, then claim that everything was fine all along. Well, we have multiple sources of evidence showing what the problem was and how he tried to hide it. Cannot recommend this company based on the outright dishonesty we experienced. One of the trees that he overcharged us for starting dying of root rot within 3 months, due to his team digging the smallest possible hole for the root ball. We dug it up and found the tree roots choking in a pool of old water due to a lack of drainage. A complaint with evidence has been submitted to the Contractors State License Board. read more

We got full demo of old deck and unsightly random concrete from prior home owner in our backyard, and new pavers put in to line up nicely with existing turf. Blue Cypress did high quality work. Crew worked hard and was on time, ready to go every day. Meticulous in details like measurements and depth. Alvaro himself was on site daily, easy to work with, genuinely nice guy with great personality and character, patient in helping us choose colors for pavers given how big an investment this can be. Met us up at a few landscaping supply spots to compare the differences in pavers and give his input when needed. Price quote was in line with a few other highly rated companies. Not the cheapest. But they put the work in for a quality job and everyone who sees our landscaping is impressed. Main thing though is that we enjoy it. I unfortunately let the weeds really take over my property after this season of rain. I sent some quote requests on Yelp, and Blue Cypress responded within an hour. They were honest about having to visit my home before giving a quote. The next day, they came and took a look at the property, I told them what I wanted, and they gave me a quote. They handpicked all the weeds from my front and back yards, and side. They trimmed the bushes I asked them to trim. It took their crew about 7 hours. They were not only respectful to my property, but they even cleaned my outdoor furniture & firepit which they didn't have to do. We needed a new deck built in our backyard. Contacted 4-5 local deck builders/ landscapers/ contractors. One was Blue Cypress Landscaping who was doing a project at another house near us. They had nice clean trucks and equipment. Alvaro from Blue Cypress called me back the same day and set up an appointment for the next day. Alvaro showed up on time and presentable. They do such good work, I wish my budget allowed me to use them more often. My yard was a big clean up and re-landscape project. BCL are a very responsive, thorough and fast team. Alvaro was my main contact and he was there every day checking on the workers and checking in with me. He offered some really great ideas some I took and others I could not afford. This is not a fly-by-night company. They clean up after themselves and make certain you are happy. Except for two things I mention at the end, I am very happy. I wish I had before pictures. It was a complete jungle of weeds with planter boxes falling apart and a steep incline that they leveled out a for me. The two things that I didn't like are: 1) I didn't like is the irrigation controller he selected. It's not very user friendly, but it comes with a cheat sheet and I figured it out. And 2) we asked for three 4' X 8' cedar planter boxes and one of them only measures 3.5 X 8. That seems weird as there was plenty of room for the additional 6 inches. I'll mostly let the pictures speak for themselves but the dry landscaping in the front yard looks amazing and the pavers really opened up the usable space. We can now fit a small trailer on our driveway. Awesome! As much as we love the front yard the work done on our hillside terraces is our favorite feature. Previous builders had put a lot of work into the concrete/stone structure but the bark and unlevel ground did not make it very inviting for adults or safe for children. Blue Cypress leveled the ground, put up fencing, and laid turf. It's a great little hideaway on hot days or when we just need to get out. I look forward to using our backyard much more. Other than the work done, communication was very timely, quote was accurate, crew cleaned up at the end of the day nicely, and Alvaro was onsite every day. Next, they were all-in on my design ideas and offered plenty of options to make it better and materials options at very competitive pricing. Third, they went over the top in 1) bucketing my raised bed vegetables and watered daily to help them survive a move across the yard over 3 weeks 2) going out of their way to find and pickup trellises and jasmine plants for a late add while 3) rerouting all of the irrigation pipes throughout the backyard and 4) leaving the space spotless upon completion including a fair amount of stuff they didn't directly contract to do. They installed new sod, irrigation and removed a pressure reducing valve from the old drip system that was causing problems with the new sprinklers. Called to describe the sort of work I needed which was for a single family home in Santa Rosa. I basically needed the front of our home spruced up a bit by, as I explained, 3-4 new drought tolerant plants and getting my irrigation started again and then monthly maintenance. After explaining our front yard was not very large he first three out a dollar figure of $300 per month for maintenance and immediately asked if I first, " would be ok with that"? Then when I started to ask about the initial work to plant 3-4 plants and start up the existing irrigation he instantly quoted me a firm $800.00! Keep in mind he doesn't know where in town our home is, address, nothing...I feel this company just in it for the money. Alvaro and his team did a dynamite job taking down a very large tree in my backyard that was very close to my house. They completed the project in 1 day when all other companies said it would take two days, and they completely cleaned up all debris that had been made. These guys worked for 10 hours straight. They had to take out a few large plants of mine in order to get the tractors into my backyard and at the end of the day instead of replanting them, Alvaro said he would come back and plant new ones. His team had also partially bent a draining pipe that was near the tree which he said he would fix. Three days after completely the project, two guys from his team came and replaced all three plants, and completely replaced the pipe. They left my property better than how they found it. It was a "big job" for us, and he was very organized and had great skills in getting things done right. We had hired somebody several year ago to do the draining, it as it was dug up on the new job, we could see it had not been done right. But Alvaro did a super job putting in a proper French Drain to reduce flooding. His workers were careful and did everything so it will last a long time.
