I hired Novara for a big job. A small yard, but a big job. I chose them after meeting with 5 different landscape and construction companies - all highly rated. Not only was Novara the most knowledgeable, they were also the most professional. Impressing me with their due diligence and knowledge of everything about both construction and landscaping. They were the only company who even mentioned laying gopher wire and knew about Ditra membranes. Seeing Stephen Garcia on social media cinched it for me. He knew his stuff. This was a company that I could tell would care as much as I did. I came to them with a full design in mind. Lots of landscapers don't love that because they want to do their own thing or because clients don't understand engineering, permits, etc. That said, Novara not only brought my own vision to life but they improved upon it with their experience and passion. I had nothing in my yard but a lot of dirt. Now I have a stunning porcelain paver landing with lighting, a patio and a pergola, DG, irrigation, lighting and a stunning plant design that is flourishing! These guys impressed me with their crew and work ethic. They were there early every morning and worked full long days. Stephen was in constant contact with me and came by frequently. He discussed every little thing they were doing. Novara never pushed me nor grew impatient with me or my questions. They didn't try to add anything expensive and were completely transparent about everything they did, as they did it. I cannot recommend them enough! From quote to finish, I'm astounded by Novara and team and highly recommend them. There were a few things we were looking for when choosing a contractor: reasonable pricing, professionalism, competency, and great communication. Drainage was our biggest concern as there's a slope going to the house. Addressing the engineering - not just aesthetics - gave us comfort that this company knows what they're doing. Quote- found them on Yelp, read the reviews, asked for a quote through Yelp projects. They offered next day coordination to view the project. Steven was pleasant and professional. Understood our drainage concerns. The emailed quote came the following day, and it had every detail requested. This punctuality and attention to detail already says a lot to me so we hired them. The job- Started on schedule and the team went above and beyond! We requested the excavated soil to be set aside so we could use it on another part of our property - they so kindly placed the soil in the areas we needed. We saw the engineering of the small gradation for water drainage. The channel drain and French drain were installed for longevity. The 1000+ sqft of pavers were meticulously arranged by hand to include border pavers. Timeframe- this massive job was scheduled for 5 days but extended into 10 days due to the manufacture shorting the border paver count. Clean up- the team did well to smooth out the rest of the excavated soil, gave us as much left over rock and pavers as we wanted and even relocated it to our convenience. Lastly, they swept the patio for immediate use and took any remaining debris. We very much appreciated Steven and the Novara crew for the long days and great work! I connected with Novara on a Tues and they came out the very next day on Weds to look at my yard and discuss what I was looking for. I wanted to install privacy trees in my yard and some accent brush. They provided a thorough proposal and some different evergreen privacy tree recommendations within a couple days turnaround, and then completed the entire job the following Friday (10 days from initial outreach)! Throughout the process they were extremely communicative and proactive. During the day of install, they removed all existing weeds complimentarily, and helped install a new irrigation valve at discount after we determined we couldn't access my existing HOA one. Their prices were incredibly reasonable, and I was so impressed with the results. I had Novara landscape and construction come out and do some work on my irrigation system that wasn't working. They were quick on solving the issue ruling that the wires leading to the irrigation valves had been chewed by rodents. They replaced our out of date irrigation controller and re ran the lines to the valves and relocated the controller to outside. They even ran a new electrical outlet so the timer could be accessed outside. They were very communicative and did a wonderful job. Couldn't have asked for better work within a timing matter. I needed to fix the retaining wall, and Novara Landscape (former name G&M Landscape) did an excellent job. Esteban gave me a rough estimate over messaging after seeing pictures and video of the existing wall. Then came over (right on time) to give a more precise estimate. The crew was respectful of my space, did an excellent job, and cleaned the site after finishing it. One minor area for improvement is proactive notification. Since the job took a few days to complete, with the rains in the middle of the progress, I had to ping Steven regularly and ask to update me on schedule and plans for tomorrow. Once contacted, Steven replies almost immediately. But I would have preferred a proactive updates on the schedule and plans for the next day. read more

We recently moved to Tiburon and I was in search of a good gardener and landscaping company. I setup a project on Yelp and interviewed the top three and pick one. Novara was the most responsive, accurate and knowledgable team. We have multiple fruit trees and I was afraid of pruning them too much. Most of the companies solely focused on aesthetic and suggested to cutting greens and shrubs off. Steban and his team were the only one wisely distinguishing between the plants, advising us on whether they need to go or only pruning would suffice or how much. They also told us although they will cut off plenty olives as part of pruning it is necessary so the tree can bear the weight. I chose them both for the quality of the work and also the cost effective solution. They have been flexible, provided two cubic yards of dirt for my vegetable garden. Esteban and his crew did a great job at my rental property in Petaluma. They helped prune 3 trees and installed a decomposed granite trail.

I really wanted to like them, but their work is not quality work. See photos. Poor laying of flagstones. Several rocks and are not stable. They are not laid evenly and Several edges are easy to trip on. Two of the large stones have broken due to instability. They were placing organic matter UNDER the flagstones and luckily I did catch this and made them pull out all the organic matter under the stones, but the laying was very poorly done. The placement of stones was not well thought out and I had to ask for some of the stones to be turned over so that the more beautiful side was showing. Aesthetically out of touch with the layout as well. I asked for rich soil full of compost for the rest of the yard and planter boxes and ended up with a sandy muddy soil which I now have to replace. Our soil is full of clay and adding sand to clay just makes a nice cement for plants. Disappointing. Planter boxes are not straight. Grading not properly done. We have water not draining easily in the patio. Esteban Said they were coming back to "clean up". I hoped they would fix the problems I found, but nope--they have not showed up in over a week--they left their mess behind. I would not use them again. (We us recent death in our family and I could not be on top of the work they did, so I had to trust them to manage it well. Given that we had everything in writing I hoped it would work out. I was so wrong. My husband emailed Esteban and I also contacted Esteban via phone and sent him all of these photos as well as a list of the problems we had. He did not respond to our messages until he read this review. read more

Eduardo & Juan worked very hard in moving the pile of mulch on our driveway using wheel barrels to the backyard. Blown away!! Mr. Garcia and his crew did a phenomenal job in my backyard. I moved into a new house, so the whole backyard needed to be built out from scratch. I had a rough sketch and idea, and they turned it into EXACTLY what I was looking for. They installed flagstone throughout (approx 2000 sq ft), plant beds, drip system, electrical lines, wires for climbing vines, everything!! They went to wholesale nurseries to get the plants and trees, planted each one with care. More than anything though, they were SO careful. So respectful, so honest. They advocated for me at the supplier's store to help me keep costs down and ensure I received materials of the highest quality. They kept in touch at every step of the way. They arrived always on time, worked non-stop through the day. Work was delivered exactly as scheduled. I just can't say enough good things about them, I was so pleased. Esteban did $5,000 project in my garden. In the process he broke a window, which he volunteered to pay to replace. I sent him copy of invoice for repair ($163), I called him, emailed him a number of times and at this point assume he is not going to reimburse me for the repair of the damage he caused. Very dishonorable. Time for small claims court. 6 weeks later....once Garcia Landscaping received summons to appear at Small Claims Court hearing they sent me the $163. But I'm still out the $45 court filing fees. read more

I recently discovered Garcia Landscaping on Yelp when I needed to have a huge hedge and several smaller shrubs trimmed at my rental Duplex. Deisi was fantastic in quick responses to all of my questions and in her follow up. The Garcia Landscaping crew did a great job; they were prompt, did a thorough job,cleaned everything up and removed all of the cuttings. I was so impressed that I just used the crew again to remove a huge fallen tree branch that had fallen on the roof of another rental property. The branch straddled my rental house and the neighbor's house and blocked access to the side of the house. Again Garcia Landscaping was very responsive and Deisi was able to schedule me promptly.
