First off, I am brand new to FNY FCU. I had literally never heard about them, before Tuesday, of…read morethis week. I am surprised at the negative reviews for FNY, here. Perhaps I just got lucky, but my experience was amazing. Let me start by saying that my credit score is not good. Low 600's. I have a lot of strong items on my credit that show I can handle loans and payments, but there are some Negative marks from many years ago. Dragging my score down. I had just totaled my car (few weeks ago) and had to finance a new one. My score had dropped about 20 points and put me in a very high interest rate. I was VERY HAPPY when SUNMARK took the loan at about 10% (Which was a great rate for my situation. Just being real). Right after my very first payment, I noticed that SUNMARK had added in over $6k in life/disability insurance that I had verbally declined. I don't want or need that. AT ALL. Problem is, that with my less than stellar credit, I was overly excited that SUNMARK approved me. And signed without catching the $6k increase, for a few weeks. When I did notice the increase, SUNMARK would not remove it. I called twice and they would not budge at all. My payment was $100/month higher than quoted, and I was going to pay $6k (plus interest) for something I have no use for and don't want. Thanks. Was home and saw a commercial on TV for FNY, promoting vehicle refinances. Hmm. Can't hurt to try it. So, I did. Best thing I did for my finances. BEST EVER. By Luck, I landed in amazing hands with Luke, from FNY. We talked about my past. The good and the bad. We talked about the situation at SUNMARK. I won't go on and on and on . but let me say that Luke went to bat for me. I only qualified for 14%. But - they matched SUNMARK at 10%. Took the loan and got me out of that bad loan at SUNMARK. Luke also took a look at my finances and put me on a great path. Structuring a second consolidation loan to get rid of the past uglies and clean up the unsecured high interest rate cards. Pushing my score up, so that we can refinance everything again in 4 to 6 months at even lower rates. THIS is what Credit Unions USED TO BE. In my opinion, FNY is the last man standing. Thank you FNY for getting me out of that jam. And for putting me on a path of stability. Thank you Luke! When I get bad service, I speak loud about it. I work hard for my money. But when I get great service, I speak even louder. I will be spreading the word.
