I have been with State Farm for more than 40 years and a client of Wayne Steen for over 5 years. I…read morehad been in regular contact with his office over my portfolio of bundled coverages to make sure I was covered for any inevitability. That is, until we had a sewer line backup into the house on Dec 3, 2024. I immediately called Mr. Steen's office and was informed "Oh, you do not have that coverage." I had gone out of my way to make sure I was covered, including Service Line Coverage. Yes, they can say that, located in the small print of homeowners' coverages it excludes backups, but that was buried deep in the policy. That's why I had repeatedly talked with them, including a couple of office visits, to make sure I was covered. I have since dropped Wayne Steen as my agent and all of my State Farm policies and gone to USAA, which I was lucky enough to qualify for. When I spoked to them about coverages, their reply was that sewer backup coverage was included in the policy. Buyer beware! All of the fancy State Farm commercials and bragging about bundled savings does no good if coverage is denied!
