In December, I literally had to ask to speak to the owner in order to get a simple Proof of Insurance verification so that I could drive a new vehicle off the dealership lot. The owner apologized and said the staff member that had been trying to help me was "new" - okay, we've all been there. Recently, we began receiving calls inquiring about a college-aged driver in the family that lives several states away on a campus where she is not permitted to have a vehicle - the former agent was the one that had advised us that we could suspend her coverage until she returned home for the summer. We explained this and thought all was fine, ...but a few days later the voicemails resumed; when we'd call back, whether she didn't understand the (repeated) explanation or the new agencies rules had changed from the former, I don't know, but the woman we dealt with (the same one that had difficulty providing us proof of insurance for our new vehicle) did not convey even a competent, never mind confident, understanding the insurance industry. A few weeks later, we received correspondence in the mail that the diver-in-question onto our policy without our request and/or consent. The cost was not a factor in our decision to cancel - we are actually paying more with our new insurer. When we called to cancel and were asked why we were leaving, we were honest - lack of confidence in the competence of the agency staff and we were upset at the unauthorized change to one of our policies. A few days later, we receive ANOTHER voicemail ....this one asking if we were aware that we were now paying more with our new insurer. Seriously?? I thought it was a joke .... until I logged onto our account and saw that our policies were still active. We called and were put through to the owner who proceeded to tell us that the policies hadn't been canceled yet because she "couldn't in good conscience" do that without speaking to us first and making sure we knew that we were paying more with our new insurer. What?! Only upon acknowledging that we knew we were paying more would she cancel our policies and remit monies owed back to us. The owner was very apologetic ...apparently, the staff member that had given us so much grief was her daughter. And yes, in case your wondering, our college-aged driver is insured on our new policy -- it's May, she's home for the summer in a few weeks. Fortunately, when asked about their policies regarding students who reside out-of-state, our new insurer was able to answer our questions directly and with confidence. I guess you get what you pay for. We had many good years with Allstate and thankfully, never had to submit a claim ... simply put, once the agency was sold, we just no longer felt that we were in good hands.

    Terrible car insurance company. Avoid at all cost. I was in a minor fender bender in May 2020. I…read morewas exiting my driveway at work and was at a stop when a vehicle that was parallel parked back into my right fender. The other party try to offer me $300 in cash and said he couldn't see my car behind his pickup truck mirror. I decided to go through insurance instead because I knew that amount wasn't going to be enough to cover the repair. Little had I know it was going to be complete headache when I was so 100% sure I wouldn't have been my fault. I didn't hear back from anyone and decided to check the status of my claim on and messaged MetLife on Twitter. In July 2020, I got a call and from Kennedy Brawner and they're finally working on the claim. It's now October 2020 and I received a letter from AAA (the other party's insurance) stating that they're insured is only partially at fault because they determined I exited while he was backing out which is completely untrue but it's his word against mine. I'm frustrated at MetLife and how they handled my claim. I can not get ahold of Kennedy through email or telephone. She has not reached out whatsoever. This is an absolute nightmare. At this rate I was better off taking the cash and paying the rest out of pocket so my insurance wouldn't go up.
