They had to color and highlight m hair 2x and still didn't get it right, my haircut was a chop job! after $150.00 I will have to go somewhere else to get it cut right and they cut it very short after trying to fix it. I had to pay $100 deposit as a new client to make an appointment. Then I was told there was $3.50 charge because you are using a credit card. Um, you just forced me to! I asked if I used my debit card when I came in could it all go on that card and she said yes. I paid a total of $244 for services AND my credit card was billed the $103.50. I have been to another salon that charged $25 deposit. When I checked out they told me they were deducting the deposit from my bill. The receptionist said NOTHING to me about my deposit!! I went to the stylist that I usually go to named terry and she is usually great with my haircut but last time I went she decided of her own accord to give me a terrible buzz fade on the sides and back of my head. I said to go as short as last time and now I look like a rip off wannabe military man cause the top of my head is longer and the rest looks like a bald lions butt. I'd be the laughing stock of school right now if not for my hood. I'm going to be stuck wearing a beanie or hood for a few months now because of her. read more

OH ALLURE...What Have You Done To Me!!! I needed to find a hair salon in the Dover/Smyrna area. A friend recommended Allure. I walked in and they gave me a stylist named Terri. The haircut was good. I decided to go there again when my hair needed to be cut. I made an appointment with Terri. MISTAKE. She cut my hair wet (cut bangs too short) and when my hair dried, I looked like Buster Brown. My friend recommended Sherri. Made an appointment and got a great haircut. I decided to give the salon a try for hair color and a body wave. I made an appointment with Sherri for those services. She asked me what color I wanted my hair. I told her my previous hairdresser used a medium honey blonde. She never showed me a swatch sample of available colors, only disappeared into the back and came out with the color already mixed. After the allotted time on my hair, the color was rinsed off and my hair was BROWN, nothing like what I requested. I know from the past that many times fresh hair color will dry lighter. This did not. Then came the body wave. I cannot believe she asked me what color rods were used previously on my hair. She is the alleged professional, not me. I told her the color I thought was used. She brought out 3 color rods but the one I thought was incorrect. I then told her to use the largest one they had. She rolled my hair using the largest and the next smaller one. When she was finished rolling my hair, I told her the lotion should only be left on my hair about 7-8 minutes as my hair curls very easily. She proceeded to put on the lotion and, when finished, she disappeared into the back. She ignored my request completely and left the lotion on 20 minutes. After removing the rods, she dried my hair and allegedly styled it which looked like her first day of training at the beauty school. During the entire time, perm and style, if you could call it that, she had my back or side to the mirror. When I awoke the next morning, my hair looked like the caveman in the Geico commercial. The entire head was frizzed out from the root. I called the salon and spoke to Shannon, the owner. I explained everything to her and she told me she helped mix the color and it was okay. I then told her about the perm gone bad and that my hair was falling out when it was combed. We decided upon a time for a "consultation". I went to the salon and she told me my perm was "beautiful". When I asked her about my hair falling out, she informed me that many things can cause it. Mind you, my hair was not falling out before the fiasco at Allure. I printed an article about how perm lotion should be checked after10 minutes and her response was "anyone can write an article". She then informed me the perm used on my hair was extremely gentle and for use on color treated hair. She also added, that they leave the perm lotion on for 20 minutes because that is what is recommended. Does she not realize that everyone does not have the same texture or thickness to their hair! She then cut me off from speaking telling me she heard all this before on the phone and did not care to listen again. I asked her if they were going to do anything about the mess they created and she again informed me I received a beautiful perm (I asked for a body wave not a permanent) and they did nothing wrong. She then walked away and left me sitting in the chair. The best of all is that this disaster cost me $180. I went to another salon and was immediately asked what I did to my hair that caused it to be so burned and breaking. I told them I had a bad experience at another salon. They were mortified that the salon let me leave with my hair in that condition. 6 weeks later and I still have hair like a groomed poodle when it is wet and like the Geico caveman when it is dry and combed. Shannon needs to use a more professional attitude when dealing with a customer, develop some people skills and learn to admit fault when it lies with the salon. Go back to school and learn how to do hair properly, listen to the customer's wishes and learn to take criticism when due. Everyone is not right all of the time. If you want to look like you had your hair done by someone who got their credentials in a Cracker Jack box, I suggest you go to Allure. read more

I just moved to the area and needed a new salon to go to. I asked online which salons were best with color and balayage/highlight and Allure was recommended. I made an appointment over the phone and was givin an appointment with Terri. Terri called me the day if and asked if I could come in an hour later. Sure, np! I came in an hour later and sat with her and discussed my Pinterest photo as we all have one and what I wanted and was given a price. I sat and got foiled and asked her if we were doing fouls and balayage and she said yes alongside root color and toner. When washed out you could hardly see the Carmel color which I asked for so, she said no worries let me throw some more foils on. Okay, she's the stylist. I again get washed out and have a seat and no change. I say I must be honest i don't love it. I'd be paying for something I don't like and there's no pop. She then says let me get my manager to look you're hair over. Shannon, comes and we discuss my picture and she says yea, that's a whole different look and cost. I then say well- I showed Terri when I came it and this is what I asked for. I hope you can fix me and not charge me more then what I was already told over phone and in person. She then says well- its a whole different look so, keep that in mind next time. Where did I go wrong?! I showed my picture you knew what I wanted how is this my fault it looks completely different?! If, it was impossible to do then say that upfront. Not to mention the smoke breaks she took while leaving me wait to be washed and how many times she hit me accidentally with the brush while trying to brush threw my half washed hair... Ugh! I'm honestly not that picky. I just want what I'm paying for or close to it. If, that's not in the cards say that right up front. Please ask for a good stylist if, you choose to come here. read more

Hands down the best salon in the area and beyond. I am always treated above and beyond. I have had services from most of the stylists and I can't complain. I value their honestly on what cuts/colors/styles look best on me for my hair type. They care more about my happiness, than profit. I am always told to come back in if I am unsatisfied. My favorite part is the current trainings and classes that they visit. I am always up for a cutting edge style or technique. The shampoo girls are very friendly and always working. Attentive to client at first and service declined over past year. Monthly visits for past year I am moving on to a salon that actually treats you like you matter as a client. Please know I have a PIXIE cut so it is very short and quite easy to work with... Cuts on my short hair were never precise and after many months I stopped getting cuts and got the cut elsewhere. So I then only got touch up color and highlights. I would show pictures and describe what I wanted. I never saw any samples of color swatches ( do they even own such a thing?) so my color was always too dark and the highlights were whitish blonde ( not what I asked for) . It was not flattering nor the caramel color I asked for. The owner would tell me okay the next time and it would be the same next time. Not right. I would always ask for the extra color be applied to my eyebrows ( they look invisible ) and the owner if she remembered before tossing it would never clean up my face and I would have color stains on my face for days... I wear glasses and cannot see without them. I would have to ask for tinfoil to cover my glasses so I could at least read while I sat there trying to amuse myself while waiting on color. No towel or tissue provided as color seeped around face. Service kept declining each month- the last appointments after I was washed out by a girl , I would sit , and wait, sit and wait , sit some more -all the while the owner would be in the back ( lunch , business, who knows what)... 10-15-20 minutes go by with my wet head drying and this is not how I want my hair done!! I started to use the hairdryer myself and do my own hair !! If my hair is not dried immediately , it is impossible to tame my curly calics . The owner would be surprised I dried it myself after finally returning to me. My time sitting there didn't matter. After almost a year of monthly visits -this owner should have learned my name!! Couldn't she look at the appointment book to glance to see and call me by my name? I personally don't want to be called by MAM or HON. $100 plus each month ( plus tip ) I feel like you could learn my name. And how about the old phrase- can I get you anything? Need water, coffee, magazine ? Never! Lastly- Prices are not listed to the public. My costs would vary and I would have to ask the girl ringing me up how they came up with this price since it always varied but I always got the same thing. The answer would be -you got more this time. So- Bad cuts, no drying or styling, prices too high & not listed , color never right , impersonal & no pampering whatsoever - bye-bye. read more
