We had some warranty work performed by John from Allure. He's an excellent mechanic and knows his craft, clearly. While repairing the existing window we talked about replacing another old window. He promptly generated a quote the same day, answered several questions about it, etc. He communicated clearly about when to expect it to arrive and worked to find a good time to install it. Installation was fairly quick and professional, cleaned up and job looks solid. Presumably will hold up over time. Price was very fair and if I needed another window replaced he'd be first on my list to call. read more

I had a custom 10ft, 4 panel sliding patio door installed, plus two custom windows. The door was bid as a job and price was reasonable. However, there were some finish items that he did not do, caulk around the exterior flange, install screen door top guides to keep screen stable in the track, or install upper strike plate. Stainless steel mounting screws are visible and not driven all the way in, glazing beads were poorly mitered so there are large gaps. The door works well but I now need to complete this finish work so it looks like a professional installation. He has offered to come back to fix, but it's more work for me to coordinate than to just do myself. John framed in a new window and cut a new hole in the stucco for me. The framing he did was totally noncompliant with IRC nailing requirements and would not pass any sort of inspection and would be unsafe if not fixed. He has returned at no cost to fix the issues as best as he could, but it caused me a lot of time to inspect and identify these problems and made me skeptical of the longevity of this work. Because the window was a time and material job he charged his hours, which he starts when he begins loading his truck until he unloads his truck at his shop...this was an additional 2 hrs, and was not clearly stated, as the contract says 'labor' is charged by the hour, and driving/mobilization is not typically labor. This is basically a fee just for showing up. Overall I feel that John is very nice and has good consulting and recommendations, and he has offered to make more return trips to correct the worksmanship issues, but he is not transparent in his charges. His work is mostly functional but unsatisfactory when you consider the high hourly cost. It is unacceptable to me that me as a homeowner has to read framing standards and consult other contractors in order to understand his framing deficiencies. I hired John on a recommendation from Simonton doors and because the other reviews spoke to his high skill level and knowledge of standards. I would not reccomend Allure Windows & Doors to any one! He, the owner John shows up to measure. Then the windows came in a few weeks later. He came to my condo to leave the windows here with out even checking to see if I was home. He must have no place to keep the windows. I spaciffally show him the fence saying I cant lower it as he mentioned to hoist it over. Then he comes a few days later or the following week to install them with no help and he asked if I could help him move one window and for me to get one side of the slidding glass door wall to lift one side and hoist it over to him over the fence. Then its all said and done as it took two days for four windows to be installed. Two smaller windows and two door walls or slidding glass doors was all that needed to be installed. The one back window cut the frame around the window as these windows are retro fit, he cut it to fit in and did not want to calk around the window, leaving all of it with a jaged edge. That goes for the back slidder he left jagid with no calking. My head is pulsing im so upset. I still gave him the check for the ballance. Most any time i asked questions he had an answer to give excuses. If he is in fact John the owner I would worry the standards he has his employees use, if he works as he did. He eventually begrudginly he calked the two back windows and now it looks finished. He said because of the stucco he could not calk it. Excuses all the way down the line. Then I had to tell him about the dining room window on the outside was not calked. He said it didnt need it. he said because there were eves above it. I dont want bugs able to get behind the molding. All the other residents condos have theres calked. So he gave me the excuse that the club house was not calked. It was our maintanance guy who installed those. I didnt hire the maintanence guy to do mine. Im shook up when I should be excited and pleased but no Im shook up. From the begining I clearly stated the one thing I wanted was the locks so the doors and windows can be open a few inches locked. If I did not mentioned this or I would not have gotten them. I just hope the windows also have them but with this experience I would bet money they dont have that locking mechanism. Also the back slidding door is half an inch off at the top. His first excuse was it had to be that way because the floor was not level. I doubt a cement floor would not be level and as well the old slidding door was level. Just so you know I was unaware that all the old metal frame would be left in place making the whole size of the windows and door walls a couple incches smaller all the way around, that I understand. Also I just noticed where the threshold is inside the house both slidding doors are not calked all allong that front edge. When a person has waited as long as I have to get new windows, I should not have needed to point all the flaws and poor workmenship. Thank you if you read this far. Sorry for any errors. Before we moved the windows his comment was he ordered the glass to be seperaite but on the invoice it shows them as glass installed in the frames. Then on the big slidder he had to pull out the glass pannel so it was easier to lift then used double sided sticky tape and put the glass in after it was moved. We ordered a window shutter to closely match the existing shutters as the company we originally purchased from was no longer in business. The Norman Shutters that Allure carries is very good. However, the owner of this business is untrustworthy and difficult to do business with. He ordered the wrong shutter confirmed by my text message to him and he did not accept responsibility for his error. Long story short, we accepted the wrong product which has a split louver tilt opposed to a full tilt. Due to owner's lack of accountability, two (2) stars is generous, but the Norman Shutter quality is very good. read more

Needed a sliding glass door. After reading numerous reviews and requesting online quotes, I chose Allure. I appreciated John's ballpark quote via email and not trying to up sell me before even taking a look at what we needed as some other companies had done. We were selling our place and just needed a basic vinyl slider that wasn't gonna break the bank. He came by, took measurements and sent me an estimate that evening. John is a really nice guy, installed a beautiful slider ( I didn't even pick it out, he did) and was really reasonable on price. The only reason for the 4 star rating is the process and communication could be better. I had to sign the contract, scan and email back to him, then deposit our initial payment into his Wells Fargo account, though he will Paypal invoice you for additional 3% surcharge. I was on a time crunch needing to get it installed before our first open house so this was kind of a hassle. He text me as soon as slider arrived (about 10 days) to set up install. I had to text him several times to arrange time and he was slow to get back to me. Again, a bit of a stressor just because of time crunch I was was working with. He arrived on time the day of install (even a few minutes early) and installed the slider with no problems. Our townhouse was built in 1970 and the aluminum slider was original to the house so he had his work cut out for him, but he was a pro and did awesome! Like I said, really nice man, installed really nice slider, just communication and order process could be better. We had a window under a lifetime warranty with Simonton that needed repair for which Simonton contracted the repair out to John at Allure. He was awesome - after one phone call, he ordered the replacement parts, and replaced the defective parts asap. Unfortunately the parts were not the correct size, and he immediately reordered the correct parts and came back and fixed within a week. He was pleasant, efficient, and great to work with. This is the second review I am writing to recommend John Beaver, who owns Allure Windows. (Although I don't see the original review listed on Yelp now). I can heartily recommend John. He installed a high quality, expensive retractable screen for us. We love the screen and it's invaluable at letting cool air into our bedroom at night. We encountered some problems with it after a painter had removed the track, and John returned to repair damage done by others. He came as often as we needed him, was always upbeat and friendly, and we are so happy we originally hired such a professional. Was referred to John at Allure Windows and Doors thru friends. My son needed a new skylight as the last storm caused his to literally fly off his roof. I called John and he took all the information, came out to the house and measured and once we decided to go with him, he has been nothing but professional and a great price. Other companies wanted to charge us just to come out and measure, and their quotes over the phone were much more than what Allure Windows offered. Because we knew he was going to do it right and at a fair price, my son decided to replace the other skylight (before it flew off) at the same time.
