This review is waaayyyyy overdue…read more Last May, we were shopping for a new security screen door to replace our old one, which we had gotten from Lowe's years ago. The old door had been good, but over the last few years, it had begun to rust and was not providing enough transparency when people came to the front door or ventilation for our front room. We looked at different vendors and called around to different door and window specialists and big box stores, and after "kicking some tires" looking at different display models around town, we were kind of disappointed with the quality of the doors. We wanted a very secure door with lots of visibility, ventilation, and more of an old-school screen door look. We almost bought a door at Dixieline, which had good reviews, and appeared to be the most secure and what we wanted, but when we went to check out a display model, were really disappointed at how much the frame of the door bent and wobbled when being opened and closed, which was odd because of how beefy it was. We decided to give Safeguard a call, and we couldn't be happier. They were very responsive and when I asked to see a display of a door, they actually gave me the address of one of his sons in our area who had the screen installed on his front door, and even invited us to Alpine to see the owner's house as another example. Plus, their doors are all custom-made to make sure the fit for the doorway is perfect. We visited the local house and were super impressed by the look and quality, and decided to have them do our project. Here is a quick summary of things: 1) Very responsive to calls and texts. 2) Came out to measure the same day. 3) Don, the owner, was very friendly and gave us a very thorough explanation about the build process and quality of the door when he did the measure. 4) Built, delivered, and installed the door ahead of schedule 5) Did a terrific job of demoing the old door, which was a big concern, and was able to install the new door with no issues or retrofitting. You can't even tell how this door is attached to door frame. All hidden hardware. I was really worried I would need to install new moulding or caulk it like crazy to hide where the old door was attached. 6) The door has a great feel and closes quietly instead of a loud clang every time it shuts. 7) The visibility and ventilation are 1000% better than our old door, and the door has an amazing lock system installed. We can leave the house with the front door open and have no concerns that our house is completely safe with just the screen being open. The staff were nice but our windows continue to have condensation in the morning all year round even in summer time with zero visibility outside to look at our view. They replaced some but they still do the same. They keep saying it's normal for windows to have condensation like car windows which we never experienced even from our old windows. We talked to other window dealers and they said it's a lie that condensation is normal for new expensive windows. In the morning we can't see our outside view for hours until later when the sun melts the condensation especially during winter. It's a poor material even though it looks new. The refused to give another sets that does not have the same problem because they said we have to buy a new set and it's different color. We're stuck with this annoying problem for life and bad view unless we spend a lot again to replace it. I wish they would correct this.
