The kids have lots of time for play, both in the sunny classrooms with views of the river, and in their two outdoor playgrounds and indoor gym. Although the school is play-based, they also do a lot of learning through play! I've been amazed at how my son's writing ability has grown this year. The specials (library, art, music, and dance) are also a real highlight of the Weekday School. My son has been bringing home amazing art projects, and showing us the songs and dances that he learned at school. Most importantly, the teachers are so experienced and caring. They really get to know each child as an individual, and my son has bonded very strongly with his teachers. Ms. Daina, the director, is incredibly warm, dedicated, and accessible. She knows all the children, is involved on a day-to-day level, and provides a lot of guidance for the kindergarten application process. We have had a wonderful experience with the Weekday School. It is a magical place for children!

Since the preschool is in a Temple, there is ample space to move about during the day. Children get to runaround indoors in a multi-purpose room (trikes, sports, yoga, etc) and they built a brand new beautiful playground last year (that can even be shaded from sun!). Oh...and there is a cooking class! Aside from the fantastic facility, the administration and staff are unmatchable. They truly love your child like their own. You are always greeted warmly in the morning. Teachers will get down on the child's level, make eye contact with each kid at drop off, and your children will always feel seen and heard. I never question if my children are safe and loved. Beautiful friendships are cultivated amongst children and families. There is ample opportunity to get involved in the community during school events and with weekend activities for working parents. The only downside about Soresh is that your child cannot stay forever!

She talks about Nyla and the rest of the children a lot, and on those days the "fun play group" doesn't meet, she asks when she gets to return. Before moving into charitable management and development, I served students in public school systems in two states for over 15 years as a teacher and as an administrator. My experience gives me further appreciation of Nyla's practices. She intentionally avoids the trendy forcefeeding of academic concepts to children who are not intellectually ready. Her work with children reflects Piaget's studies of child development. Children learn through play, and their expression improves through various arttistic means. That's what Nyla told my wife and me when we and our daughter first met with her, and that is what she has delivered. Furthermore, her open-door policy adds the assurance that my wife and I are welcome at any time. If you're looking for something posh, this isn't the place. My Little School is a happy little haven for children in downtown Manhattan. It is a small, warm,…read moretight-knit community with smart, driven administrators and loving, nurturing teachers. My daughter has been going here for 2 years and it is her home away from home (mine too!). I have forged such wonderful relationships with the other parents as well as the staff and teachers. The children receive wonderful individualized attention and they are encouraged to develop their strengths, whatever those may be. They learn to respect one another, resolve conflict and acknowledge each other's feelings, plus they participate in a full preschool curriculum with plenty of outdoor play, creative expression and problem-solving, all in an atmosphere that fosters a love for Judaism. Unfortunately it just didn't work out and we decided to take our child out after four months of enrollment. It was just a series of events that led to this decision, but the worst part is how it ended. Since he started in April, we felt like he's been out of the daycare more days than he attended(2 weeks for covid closure(thankfully my son didn't have it), a little less than a week for coxsackie closure(unfortunately he caught it from one of the kids), a random day in June, these upcoming two weeks for training and Labor Day, and possible two weeks Christmas Eve thru New Years break) and we're still paying for all of those days he's not attending on top of paying for a sitter while the daycare is closed. We wish we were aware that they have extended breaks instead of just major holidays like the other daycares in the area. What make matters worst is that they have a system where you pay for the month in advance. We notified them in August that our child will no longer attend the center in September(the month we recently paid for) and requested to get the money back. First we was told that our agreement states we have to give a 30 day notice(which it absolutely doesn't). When we went over the agreement and explained how it doesn't, we was just told that accounting team won't give a refund with less than a 30 day notice. I honestly feel scammed for my hard earned money and this experience has left a real bad taste in my mouth. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had and no parent should have to go through this.
