I brought in a dress that needed pretty significant work (taken in on a complexly designed lace bodice, straps taken up, and a complex hem as there was a very detailed lace inlayed slit). Not only is she a sweetheart and phenomenal at her job, she is VERY fairly priced especially considering her level of work and her wonderful personality - trust me, I'm that bride that called 5+ salons and she was on par, if not more reasonably priced that any of the other salons I spoke with in the area. Really bad customer service. I walked in to inquire about wedding dress. She acted very offended. I guess she wants people to book appointment but I was actually planning to do that during this meeting. She indicated that they don't do any tailoring and only the wedding dresses in the rack are available. I guess her business is doing well since she can afford to reject new customers. I needed a dress altered and stopped in on my way home to inquire about it. The woman was extremely rude, she was helping someone but acted as though I shouldn't have even walked in. Really needing the dress for a wedding coming up I called in an effort to make an appointment. Again extremely rude customer service, said they were booked that day and were silent. I asked if they had availability later in the week and got a sole "no." I hung up, went to VIP Cleaners and Tailoring and got awesome service. Ally is the best and I'm so thankful I worked with her. I bought a beautiful Christos dress from Lovely Bride and it needed a lot of adjustment to fit me right. The back wasn't sitting right - so she added a bit of wire. The dress was challenging because it was sheer in the back and had some details, but she is a true pro and understood right away how to fix everything. Eh... My experience here wasn't as nice as everyone else's, it seems. I don't know if we started off on the wrong foot because the bride called ahead to say she was running late and that I would be there before the bride. I had to get my bridesmaids dress altered so I showed up and Ally seemed a little irritated and was pretty rude to me the whole time. Plus, another bridesmaid had asked if she could come in that morning as well, but Ally said she was way too busy and booked up so, no, she couldn't take any more appointments and was extremely rude on the phone. I thought that was stupid because my fitting took all of five minutes and she didn't seem swamped at all. My dress fit in the hips but the bust was too small so Ally suggested we turn it into a lace-up back dress, which I thought sounded nice. She said that normally, taking clothes in was $30. Making something bigger would require acquiring more material so she was going to charge $65, fine. I paid and that was that. The bride picked up my dress for me and said that Ally had used material from the dress itself to make the alterations. That annoyed me because she obviously didn't procure additional materials to make the dress. On top of that, because she'd used the inner lining to make a panel for the lace up back, the dress kept riding up. The inner lining barely went past my crotch and it kept bunching up under my dress, which made it look terrible. On top of that, she just used the hanger strings to make the lace up ribbon. Hanger strings aren't exactly the most sturdy material, so I thought that was pretty stupid. Yes, her tailoring skills were great and the dress looked good on the hanger. However, due to her rude attitude and the fact that she made the dress unwearable because of her alteration tactic has made me give her a less than amazing review. Also, if you're looking to shop here, I would say don't bother. I was browsing through the dresses while waiting for the bride to show up and everything looked so 80s, but not in an elegant vintage way. More like, poofy shoulders, too much beading, and oh-my-gosh-is-that-sequins kind of way. read more

I would give Ally's 10 stars if Yelp let me! This lady is an absolute gem and lifesaver. I ordered my wedding gown from Ukraine and when it arrived it didn't fit in my hips (it is a mermaid gown and the narrower area in the hips was just a bit too small and so I couldn't pull it down all the way). I was so disappointed because the gown is absolutely stunning! I then found Ally who assured me that there is JUST enough room in each seam to let out so that it would fit. Nervous, I left it in her care. And what do you know! She was right! When I came back for my second fitting, the dress went right over my hips like intended. It fit like a glove! In addition to that, she also took the armpits up a bit because it was too long in the trunk, she took it in around the sides, she hemmed the bottom, AND added boning to maintain the shape. But that's not all! Because my dress has a side zipper only, it was very tight around the head when getting it on. I knew this would be problematic when I have my hair done and would need to slip my dress on. I spoke with her and asked if she could open the shoulder (which would entail cutting apart the intricate lace and beading) and adding clear buttons so that there was more room for my head. What do you know! She did it again! The seamstress perfectly cut apart the lace and added these beautiful, barely visible buttons to the shoulder which then created a ton more room for my head. On top of that, the buttons shimmered in the light like little gems! It was arguably better with the buttons than without! I also had a detachable train, for which she also added buttons to the back of the dress (the same beautiful shimmery ones). I had about 5 fittings total and she only charged me a one time, up front fee of $400!!! This is unheard of. If I went to the city to do all this work on my gown, a place like Kleinfeld's would've easily charged me a grand. I am now left with he gown of my dreams and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Ally!!! Oh let me also mention that she is super friendly and is very pleasant to work with. Her boutique is beautiful and almost always has classical music playing in the background, giving it a very soothing and whimsical atmosphere. Although my dress did not need much for alterations, it did require some, and I felt very comfortable leaving it with Ally to fix the length and bust. Ally did an incredible job on my dress with a tight timeline. My first dress in came in damaged and they had to replace it last minute. When the new dress came in, it was 4 weeks away from my wedding. I went to her every Friday for 4 weeks until the dress was absolutely perfect. It fit me like a glove. I brought my dress to Ally a little bit more than a month away from my wedding, knowing that the dress was sold to me way too small in the hip area. I was really worried about this, as the dress was pulling in the exact area I was self conscious about. Ally assured to me that there was enough room in the hips to let out. She also brought up the top half of the dress (since it was too large), and agreed to create a custom belt and veil for me. After that initial meeting, Ally worked tirelessly to help bring my vision of the dress to life. She reminded me why I loved the dress so much in the first place. The high marks for this place must be because of the affordable alterations. As for wedding gown selection and customer service, it's seriously lacking. I recently made an appointment to look at gowns based on the reviews here. Not only was the gown selection minimal, (David's Bridal could offer you more for the same price.), you are not allowed to take pictures of yourself in the dress. I tried on several and Ally behaved as if I were taking away from her time. No questions as to when my wedding was, what kind of dress I was looking for, nothing. And no, there weren't other people waiting. Upon trying my last dress on, she went to her back room to steam something and didn't even come back out to answer our questions about bridesmaid dresses. I cannot say enough about Ally and her services. She customized a lot of details on my expensive strapless lace dress and I kept gaining and losing 2lbs every time I came in so I probably drove her crazy haha. She also kept it the dress for months since, I dropped it off so early - that was nice too, glad she had room since my tiny apt didn't! Then, 3 months before my wedding, I surprised her with another detailed (but much lighter in weight) BHLDN dress for my reception. It needed hemming and the straps had to be moved up, which then made the dress fit differently than expected - so she had to fix that too (the store where I bought it from, fit me in it incorrectly, they yanked the straps up too high to look like an empire waist which I loved, but it was unrealistic to get it tailored that way). Anyway, She didn't blink an eye and assured me it would all work out. One week before the wedding, I finally received my "something blue" - a custom monogram to be sewn into one of my dresses. Dropped it off, no problem. 4 days before my wedding, the BHLDN dress had to be taken in at the chest since I lost weight again. She promised it would all get done in 48 hrs and lo and behold she did. It does help to know your own body though - if you are uncomfortable with something, tell her and she will gladly alter it.
