Unfortunately, my experience this time was completely different. I brought in a simple double layered dress that only needed to be hemmed and was quoted $140, more than the dress itself! I was told that because it had two layers, it was essentially like "hemming two dresses." At $70 a layer, I guess every layer counts. I then asked about simply taking in the waist of a pair of jeans. I was initially quoted $25, but after looking at them again, I was told there was suddenly "a lot more work" involved and that I had been quoted incorrectly. At that point, I took both items and left. I went to another alterations shop and was quoted under $100 for BOTH the dress and the jeans. It seems management may have changed since my last visit, which is unfortunate because I was previously very happy with their work. Hopefully the pricing doesn't continue in this direction, because $140 to hem a simple dress is pretty hard to justify.

During a busy wedding season and moving, among other things pulling their attention, they did not show any signs of stress or rush. He WILL make you look better and point out ways to make the clothes better compliment your body that others don't even know about. I have been in there when people are told what they do not want to hear and complain the customer service is bad. They are just really blunt. 2) This kind of bleeds into the first point but the unfortunate reality is just because you spent a lot of money on a dress/clothing it does not make it quality. We want to think that as a consumer but at the end of the day a lot of bridesmaid dresses/ dresses from department stores for weddings are made super cheap and they let you know it because the quality of the garment is what gives them space to work. 3) It looks kind of messy in there and you NEED TO KEEP YOUR TICKET. A lot of us are used to modern computers but they are not functioning like that, this is a local, elder owned business. This is legitimately like going to a business in 1965, it has charm but you need to sort of feed into that and do it their way. 4) Give them time. The modern world is rush rush rush, but like I said this place is old school. I have personally bought multiple dresses here, some cheap, some very expensive. I never had a problem with the fit or service. This is not to say they are perfect but I think if you want a no frills alteration process I love them. Plus, Yvonne is hilarious if that's your humor.

My only beef is that over time, the whites in my laundry have gone dingy, suggesting they have some laundry people on staff who aren't separating the lights from darks. They are also not using whites brighteners, like OxyClean, which i now give them myself with instructions. While this has been frustrating, I could never dock Apple a star as they are truly the kindest people around. Also, they send their laundry out to a service, so I suggested to them that they maybe find a more pro partner. But it's no biggie. I'll just keep giving them my own OxyClean pods until things change. Grateful that they are in the neighborhood!
