My brother-in-law contracted Alma Moving and Storage to move him from North Carolina to Florida. They sent him an inventory sheet, which was filled out, and then both parties signed it. It had a delivery date, which was three days after they picked the furniture up, this was fine. When they arrived with the truck to pick up the furniture, they sent him a contract over PDF and rushed him through it to sign everything. What they didn't tell him is they had moved the delivery date out a whole month. Now he is in Florida, does not have his furniture, won't get it for weeks, and his walker, his CPAP, and some of his medicine are on that truck, and he can't get them. Horrible experience dealing with this company firstly. collected our stuff late evening, ( we were told morning) and gave us no notice we were going to be late. Also the mover stunk of weed and was high when he showed up. Secondly. Our we were told 5 days and our stuff would be with us. The contract said 21 working days maximum. Our stuff didn't arrive until 75 days after pick up! My partner has a neck disability and was sleeping on the floor the entire time! The whole time we were calling nearly every day trying to get information on our stuff to no avail. Thirdly. After finally getting a date of arrival ( the day before) we were quoted a discounted price because they were so late. Where to begin? Plain and simply, this company scams its customers. It shouldn't exist. My roommate moved from Florida to California at the end of April 2026. Alma Moving told her that her expected delivery date was May 2nd, 2026. After lots of back-and-forth, hours on the phone with "customer service," and some truly deplorable treatment from the company, it finally arrived today: July 1st, 2026. She called customer service multiple times a day every day leading up to this, and was brushed off and given misinformation/plenty of excuses. After a lengthy battle, she got verbal confirmation from Ann that the second half of her payment would be significantly discounted on a "per diem" for every day it arrived 30-days after their original arrival projection (5/2/26). Ann also reiterated that the delivery people had been informed of this discount and that there would be no contention regarding the price at the time of payment. She was also told that she could pay by check, and that she'd get a 48-hour notice of her delivery. All lies. Upon arrival today, the SINGLE mover tasked with unloading all of her boxes and heavy furniture informed her that the amount he needed to get from her was a couple of hundred of dollars more than the aforementioned "per diem" discounted amount. He got customer support on the phone (two different women, as Ann was conveniently nowhere to be found) who couldn't find any notes or information regarding the updated price. They told her that if she didn't pay the amount that they were asking, they would drive away with all of her belongings to Texas and charge her per day for storage and that she likely wouldn't see it for at least another month. then when she finally was at her wits end and wrote them a check for their desired amount, she was told that they only accept cash. The driver then got customer service back on the phone, who immediately confirmed that yes, they accept checks, no problem. The driver took the phone back went off and spoke with the customer service lady one on one and then came back and the lady said sorry this guy's boss only accepts cash. Do you want your stuff or not? Perhaps predictably, my roommate didn't have thousands of dollars on cash readily available. She ultimately venmo-ed them in desperation, and was thoroughly taken advantage of. My roommate and I ended up helping the driver (who was very kind) unload the truck, as Alma Moving only had a single person there to unload everything and he couldn't do it by himself. Had to get an attorney to get my refund, and yes, I cancelled within 24 hours- which by the way is buried deep within the contract...Despite repeated requests for a refund, it did not happen until we retained an attorney. Sign nothing as what they quote you isn't the final cost that's just to talk to the person in the salesman. I just want to thank Alma Moving, Inc. from Plantation, FLA for the absolute worst Christmas in my entire 70 years of life. It's been 10 days and still No furniture. What was supposed to be a 2-3 day turn around was a complete lie. We don't have a lot of years left in this life. And what should have been a joyful experience buying our last home of our lives and spending our first Christmas and 30 year anniversary in it has been a complete nightmare because of this company. We've had to sleep on the hardwood floors, sit on outdoor furniture cushions, eat only what can be microwaved due to no furniture, no pots & pans, no anything. increase my estimate by 100 cubic feet "just to be safe." However, when the movers arrived at the storage unit, they suddenly claimed I was over by 400 cubic feet, which nearly doubled my original quote. Unfortunately, they didn't properly explain this to my son, who signed the paperwork before realizing the extra charges. When my belongings were delivered, I was unexpectedly asked to pay almost $1,400 more before unloading could begin. The pickup crew arrived several hours late, and the delivery team rescheduled at the last minute for 9 AM the next day but didn't actually show up until noon. To make matters worse, my items were packed toward the back of the truck, so the movers had to unload another customer's belongings onto our lawn just to reach ours. That process alone took over an hour, and then they had to reload everything back onto the truck afterward. On the positive side, the movers were friendly, respectful, and handled our belongings carefully, which I appreciated. They stayed professional and worked hard despite the situation. The original salesman lied about how much space we were getting just to make us go over on moving day. Later, another salesman claimed he was giving us a "deal" on extra space -- but he actually tried to charge $20 per cubic foot when our contract clearly listed $5 per cubic foot. 2. Hidden and misleading stair fees. We paid in advance for one flight of stairs, but when the movers arrived they demanded payment for five flights because they consider one flight to equal only seven steps. We had 40 steps total -- something that should have been clarified from the beginning. 3. Rude and unprofessional customer service. The customer service representative we dealt with was extremely rude and even yelled at us over the phone multiple times when we tried to ask simple questions or clarify charges. 4. Shady payment practices. You can pay the deposit by credit card, but once the movers arrive, they only accept cash, Zelle, or money order -- and they do not tell you this ahead of time. This feels deliberately deceptive. 5. Damaged items and poor handling. Several of our boxes were damaged upon arrival, showing a lack of care during the move. 6. More hidden fees. They also charge extra if your home is more than 50 feet from the truck, another charge that was never disclosed before moving day. 7. Suspicious online reviews. After our experience, I looked closer at their Google reviews and noticed that a majority appear suspiciously fake -- most reviewers have no profile photo and have only ever posted one review, all giving five stars. Where do I begin!?!? I scheduled two moves a couple days apart through a broker company in which I had a severely awful experience with the first move, they ripped me off and took all my money. However, Mohamad from Alma showed up for my second move. Mohammed had showed up with me in tears due to my previous experience. He showed the utmost concern and kindness! He took the time to listen to me about what happened and why I had very little money to complete my second move. He worked with us diligently to make it happen with the little money I had left. I recommend using this company directly, and stay away from brokers such as Hercules moving solutions, where they will take your money, and stick with alma, they seem honest and affordable, and at least Mohammed cares for people. read more

Why is a response from a "business owner" called Ana K signed Paije Hardy? I initially spoke to someone called Paije over the phone when reporting my concerns, although she said she'd put me in touch with a manager to handle the various issues that occurred during my move. I did not hear from anyone until 3 business days after that and was placed on hold for long periods of time during the call. Also, why am I receiving more information from a "manager" of this company via Yelp instead of during our phone calls? I am still waiting for the delivery of my items that were misdelivered to people who I'm told by the Sheriff's office of the town they relocated to had a similar "nightmare experience" with this company. I only knew the location of my belongings because I placed AirTags in my most valuable possessions. Alma Moving's reply fails to explain the breakdown of the "transparent" fees/tariffs they employed to charge me nearly 40% (over $800) above the binding estimate for my studio apartment move. I'm still awaiting clarity and an itemized receipt since the exorbitant payment was demanded at my doorstep without explanation in order to deliver SOME of my possessions, many of which were damaged, and also claimed the remaining items (like my side table) were too damaged to return to my possession. read more

I did my original contract with Hercules, and I sent them size of the boxes and detailed items list. Alma showed up to do the pick up saying that the contract was for a smaller cubic footage and I had to leave most of my belongings behind. Alma picked up my stuff on July 13, 2025, and every time I called them to get an estimate on delivery date, Jennifer, very rudely, responded that AS PER THE CONTRACT, they have 30 business days, and that was due on August 22, 2025. It is August 25th, and they are not responding my calls, nor messages, I tried to contact them and get their attention by leaving a review on Instagram and they blocked me. I am very frustrated and no idea on how to deal with these terrible company... I recommend anyone to better leave their stuff and buy new ones when moving to a different state; that'd be cheaper and less stressful... now I've been living for more than a month in an empty house and not buying anything because I supposedly have those stuff. read more

I hired Hercules moving. I gave a deposit to Hercules and that is who I spoke with regarding my move from MD to FL . On moving day, Wed Oct. 23rd, a U-HAUL showed up w/ 2 men. They were late and explained they flew in from FL that morning. Both spoke to each other in Russian. They were difficult to understand and work with. I had to tell them I had a 20 hr drive and I'll help pack b/c of how slow things were going. I pre-packed and had 90% of my stuff in the garage. Towards the end of loading the truck, I was told I had more cubic space and needed to pay $1600.00 add'l on top of the $1200 cash and 790.00 deposit, already given. When I spoke to supervisor/ Jennifer, I was told I needed to pay additional money beyond the contract or they can leave my stuff if I don't pay when I already paid add'l money. She was rude and threatening. The supervisor/ Jennifer Valtre, yelled, cursed, didn't give reassurance of when our belongings would arrive and made a bad situation/ experience worse. I was told I didn't read my contract and they have 30 days to deliver. I still have not received my stuff nor have been told by anyone when it will arrive. We had a motorcycle to haul and the 2 guys had no idea how to put on the truck or even handle a Harley. I had to call a neighbor/ friend to drive onto the truck. I was sent a company with terrible reviews, delivery delays, demanded huge amt of money, difficult to reach/not returning calls. Alma moving was contracted by a broker/ Hercules without my knowledge for my greater than 900 mile move to FL. I still have not received our belongings (our life! Photos, furniture, pictures, clothes). This has been a nightmare experience. Please save yourself from an already stressful situation. I don't know how people can be this way. read more

So many hidden fees. Didn't factor in boxes in my initial quote which I vehemently opposed but I was assured my price wouldn't increase. It did - by $3000. Another $750 in packing fees despite me providing everything they told me to provide. I repeatedly told them I had a large piece of exercise equipment that needed to be disassembled. Assured no fee for that then tacked on for that as well as moving my washer and dryer (which they always knew I had.) Lots of confusion between who I pay - the foreman or the office. Foreman was pushy about me tipping his Craigslist crew - basically wanting me to pay their $19/hour rate for him plus tips. My initial quote was $6500 and I ended up spending almost double that. Oh and lots of my furniture is damaged but they got the hell outta dodge the second they finished. No final walkthrough. I had a horrendous moving experience with Alma. As I responded to Ana - I think an owner. My belongings were delivered within 10 days AFTER the promise delivery date, of which she seems quite proud (I understand that, legally, moving companies have a period of time to deliver.) The problem: I was explicitly told that my delivery was a straight through delivery. I asked. The drivers said "see you Monday" (this was on a Thursday load), when they left. At no time was there any suggestion/discussion that my belongings would be unloaded. When I searched for my belongings that Monday the customer service person couldn't find them either. It took 24 hours for Alma/Hercules to find my belongings. Then I was given several windows on when they might be delivered. Since I had been told this was a straight through delivery I had packed with that in mind. So, 10 days after expected delivery the truck shows up at 8:30 pm. The driver opens the back, with packed belongings of which I can only see a little since they are tied in, and says "there's your stuff, pay cash, or I won't unload". I understood that I would have to pay cash (and didn't know later that this is a huge red flag per the Motor Carrier Safety Administration) but thought I would be able to have my things unloaded. But, no, they were 'hostage'. The driver didn't have original paperwork and said he needed mine but would photo and send a copy - he did not. An e-bike was missing for which I filed a claim - radio silence. I tell everyone to NEVER use ALMA and definitely think twice about any moving company.
