The school is awesome but whatever you do DO NOT use CHS housing. They will charge you all together…read moretwo times the worth of the apartment between you and three other students. You'd assume that a business that overcharged you that much would have reasonable accommodations and relaxed rules but you'd be wrong. Not only will you be treated like a child but you get a cozy metal cot to sleep on.

I'm in the oil patch, and travel extensively for work. One, the NLC guys and women are prepared to be tested. If they don't know something, they ask....they don't guess. And they typically pass the National Certification test on the first try. Why? Because you either have to have to background or training to begin at NLC. They don't just take "anyone willing to throw money at them". If you are currently working at a McDonald's, have ZERO field experience of ANY kind (I mean running any kind of equipment with a motor), cannot read well enough to read an entire Operator's Manual, they warn you in great detail not to sign up. But being unwilling to ASK for help....then the answer is NO....going to NLC will not help you or your kid at all. It's more than putting on the gear, showing up, staying awake the entire time, or turning wrenches. You have to be able to learn, and take a very hard test. It's National Certification for cripes sake. And, even if you have a learning issue, the NLC would still help you. But you have to make an effort into the investment. Like driving: it takes more than steering the vehicle.

I can't say enough GREAT things about Heather. If you have the means, a doula is 100% a necessity…read more She is equally as helpful to your support partner as well as mentally preparing us for the labor and delivery. My birth plan did not go as planned (as they always say happens). Heather was there to help us through these obstacles every step of the way. She doesn't push you to make any decisions, she educates you and informs you and prepares you to make the decisions that fit you best. I had complications post delivery and she comforted my husband and made the phone calls and held my baby during this emotional time while I was in the OR. She was so much more help than we could have even dreamed of. She is the full package. She even took our newborn photos when my daughter was two weeks old and we turned it into our Christmas card. We also took Heather's classes to prep us for L&D. She made us feel comfortable about everything. She even braided my hair when I was in labor, so sweet! We made her work over time! Poor Heather. She was with us for hours and hours for two days straight. She was very responsive and willing to do whatever we asked her to do. She was even helping coordinate keeping my placenta and the logistics of that. I even texted her the other day to ask about recommendations for my baby and she answered right away. She's just the best of the best.

She'll be a part of our birth team for any future pregnancies. We also took her birth class which I highly recommend!

I am genuinely heartbroken that I have to write a review like this, but families deserve to know…read moreour experience. We were excited about The Ambrose School. During our tour, they expressed how much they loved our child, how well she would fit, and even told us there was an open spot. All we needed to do was complete the application. We did exactly that. The application asked detailed questions about our specific Christian faith and the church we attend. Within a week of submitting it, we received a cold, impersonal email informing us that our application was being terminated and our fee refunded. No explanation. No conversation. No willingness to clarify anything. Just a closed door. When I reached out and respectfully asked for the reason behind their sudden reversal, we received complete silence. Not even the courtesy of a reply. Based on the timing and the nature of the questions they focused on, it is hard to see this as anything other than religious discrimination. What makes this even more painful is that our child previously attended a nearly identical "Classical Christian" school in another state--with the same curriculum, same values, same books, same structure--and thrived as a straight-A student. She was everything they say they want in a student. Explaining to her why Ambrose had suddenly changed their mind was absolutely heartbreaking. Their academics appear strong, and I am sure many students receive an excellent education. But our experience revealed something far more concerning: a lack of transparency, compassion, and Christlike behavior. The way we were treated was dismissive, exclusionary, and completely out of line with the values they claim to uphold. Families deserve honesty and respect. Sadly, we experienced neither.

We've been attending for 2 years and love it! Definitely a school that desires parent involvement…read morewhich works great for our family!
