While in the process of packing and moving, the kids and I took a break from visiting our library. I didn't want to borrow material and then possibly loose items during the move. The Graubner Library is located just north of 30 Mile Rd, on Van Dyke and was the closest to our new home. On our 1st visit I was throughly impressed. Not only with the size and amenities available at this public library but with the staff, that was more than welcoming, friendly and helpful. They signed me and 3 of my children up for our own library cards. My kids got a kick out of having their own cards, as this was a first for them. Since moving to our new home we have been to this library a half a dozen times, in just 8 weeks. We have borrowed approximately 30 items, including books, magazines and DVDs. Can you tell we really love the library! This library, as with all other libraries I've been to gets 5 Stars from me. How can they not!? This is a FREE service and resource center available to EVERYONE!! Kids and adults should really take advantage and make use of your public library. People "read" too much on their phones/devices. I've been saying, for years, books will soon be extinct, and then what!?! That would be a sad day, to not have anymore documented text/reading material. It will be a hard sought after thing like the Bible in the Book of Eli. (Haven't seen it- go to the library and borrow it! Fantastic movie with Denzel Washington) Pick up a book. Turn real pages. Read to your kids and elders. Read for your own knowledge and take yourself on an adventure of the imagination. Borrow a book on a hobby you want to start or something you want to learn to do. Support your local library and tell the librarians Thank You for all they do! Side note, this library has an amazing kids section, offers MANY free clubs, events, activities for both kids and adults. It also has tons of PC for your use. DVD rentals are FREE and don't have late charges. There is a 24 hour drop box for returns. Oh, and in case you're forgotten what a library is- cuz you haven't stepped foot into one since grade school----" a library is a collection of materials, books or media that are easily accessible for use and not just for display purposes. It is responsible for housing updated information in order to meet the user's needs on a daily basis. A library provides physical (hard copies documents) or digital access (soft copies) materials, and may be a physical location or a virtual space, or both. A library's collection can include printed materials and other physical resources in many formats such as DVD, CD and Cassette as well as access to information, music or other content held on bibliographic databases." Feel like getting away from it all but don't have the time, money to go far away, then step right…read moreinto the Oxford Public Library! This place is gorgeous with a super relaxing vibe. As we drove up I noticed a playground next to the library...how very convenient. You can take your young ones to play and afterwards they can check out the aquarium and explore all the fascinating reads that are inside the library. When I entered the building I was overcome with joy in seeing the huge, clear aquarium; so beautiful! There is a mighty, huge blue fish in the tank. I must admit, I felt bad for such a big fish being in a small tank but it sure was a wonder to admire him. There is a section up front where you can purchase used books and puzzles. Further to the right is the children's area full of fun items to explore. The main area is so pretty, I felt like I might have wandered into a ski lodge with the fireplace going and floor to ceiling windows displaying Michigan winter glory. There is a pretty courtyard for viewing. There is a resource room for using printers and computers. The employees were knowledgeable and friendly.

I have been going to this library for over 10 years, and I can't say I've ever had an issue that…read morewould make me not support them anymore. Being as I don't live in Oxford but had a student at the High School, I knew I wanted to belong to this library. For me, there is a limit on how much I can take out at one time, but that's ok. I still have full access to everything they provide. Back when my daughter was in school, she participated in a lot of the young adult things they had going on, even volunteered during the summer to help with programs. I've always thought the crafts idea was great-they have them for all ages and in more recent years, my step-son has been enjoying the crafts. He also has used the play area where they have puzzles, kid computers, puppets, books, etc. I haven't been able to get him to any fun events-but there seems to have been some good ones.... We mostly over the past year have been checking out books, movies, even music. Of course last year, 2020 was a tough year and everyone had to learn how to do business in a new way, updated ways, or completely different. But libraries seem to have held strong and I certainly appreciate them! They have a summer reading program I try to be a part of where you can win prizes. I've been able to set goals for myself with this as a tool to get some reading done! I THINK they may have a winter program-but have to check on that one.... This year I've been taking advantage of the adult section of the library-it's huge! Lots of books, new book section easy to find, an area with computers-some nooks of quiet spots where you can bring your own computer and work quietly. Lots of sitting areas, some by the big fireplace that gets lit in the afternoons during winter. And-huge windows along the back looking out over the trail & new playground Oxford put up this summer. I have enjoyed spending hours here this fall as I have 2 people working remotely from home and it's a nice break for me. I can get on my computer in silence or read a book! Last thing I want to mention is you must wear a mask when going inside. They do have signs up for that. If you don't have one, they usually have some right when you walk in.

The…read morelibrary is but a few blocks from its' old location where they had outgrown the older, smaller building. The library is situated in a beautiful park setting. They have everything you can think of from a bookstore, outside seating, copy area, computer room, fireplace with cozy seating to children's area. The personnel are knowledgeable and friendly. We purchased books from the Friends of the Library bookstore as well as browsed books that were lining the many rows of shelves of books. I especially enjoy reading the magazines and newspapers. If you are in the area, stop in, relax and read for a bit.

The selection of books is great, especially if you use the online catalog. If they don't have a book you want they will borrow it from another location that does. We were able to load as many books, puzzles, dvd's, etc into one plastic bag for $1.00! I walked away with 3 puzzles, 1 audio book on cd, 1 magazine and 4 books for $1.00, that's amazing. They have a fireplace, which will come in handy in the next few weeks. It is easy to locate any type of book or media material that you are looking for. There is plenty of available parking. If you are driving south on old Van Dyke you might drive right past this gem as the signage is small and dark. They are just North of the Taco Bell, Salvation Army and Tractor store...stop on in if you are in the neighborhood.

I was searching for a book they didn't have, and they kindly pointed me to Hoopla. It's a free online app that lets you read books they don't have in the library. This place is incredibly convenient for anyone who loves books. It's my go-to spot for knowledge and DIY projects. I'm definitely planning to make this my library!

24 Hour Library…read more Kresge has been my dwelling place for late nights of cramming. The library has wonderful amenities that are available for students as well as guests. I love the interlibrary loan and the writing resources for students. The library website can be the best resource a hard-working student can have. Library OneSearch is a new search engine that features everything from the library catalog and other library databases. OneSearch also includes scholarly content publishers and view results ranked by relevance. The library is now open 24/5 for OU Students from Sunday through Thursday and closes at 2 on Fridays and Saturdays.
