I stopped in, spoke to the librarian and obtained a card. I asked him how to get to a desk that was upstairs and he told me. He also told me that there is another area that I could go to if I wanted a more quit area to work from, and I told him I was ok. But boy oh boy. It was really loud. Phones ringing and people talking on the phone in there. I honestly thought that I was being punked. I will go to another location next time.

Beautiful inside and out, this library makes it easy for your imagination to soar. The staff was so gracious. They are probably used to visitors being amazed by the library. Watching two extremely excited grown adults trying not to run, point and exclaim over is probably normal. (We managed to keep quiet: it's a library!) As we drove up I noticed a playground next to the library...how very convenient. You can take your young ones to play and afterwards they can check out the aquarium and explore all the fascinating reads that are inside the library. When I entered the building I was overcome with joy in seeing the huge, clear aquarium; so beautiful! There is a mighty, huge blue fish in the tank. I must admit, I felt bad for such a big fish being in a small tank but it sure was a wonder to admire him. There is a section up front where you can purchase used books and puzzles. Further to the right is the children's area full of fun items to explore. The main area is so pretty, I felt like I might have wandered into a ski lodge with the fireplace going and floor to ceiling windows displaying Michigan winter glory. There is a pretty courtyard for viewing. There is a resource room for using printers and computers. The employees were knowledgeable and friendly.

Being as I don't live in Oxford but had a student at the High School, I knew I wanted to belong to this library. For me, there is a limit on how much I can take out at one time, but that's ok. I still have full access to everything they provide. Back when my daughter was in school, she participated in a lot of the young adult things they had going on, even volunteered during the summer to help with programs. I've always thought the crafts idea was great-they have them for all ages and in more recent years, my step-son has been enjoying the crafts. He also has used the play area where they have puzzles, kid computers, puppets, books, etc. I haven't been able to get him to any fun events-but there seems to have been some good ones.... We mostly over the past year have been checking out books, movies, even music. Of course last year, 2020 was a tough year and everyone had to learn how to do business in a new way, updated ways, or completely different. But libraries seem to have held strong and I certainly appreciate them! They have a summer reading program I try to be a part of where you can win prizes. I've been able to set goals for myself with this as a tool to get some reading done! I THINK they may have a winter program-but have to check on that one.... This year I've been taking advantage of the adult section of the library-it's huge! Lots of books, new book section easy to find, an area with computers-some nooks of quiet spots where you can bring your own computer and work quietly. Lots of sitting areas, some by the big fireplace that gets lit in the afternoons during winter. And-huge windows along the back looking out over the trail & new playground Oxford put up this summer. I have enjoyed spending hours here this fall as I have 2 people working remotely from home and it's a nice break for me. I can get on my computer in silence or read a book! Last thing I want to mention is you must wear a mask when going inside. They do have signs up for that. If you don't have one, they usually have some right when you walk in.

The children's section on the bottom floor is great! They have a play area, eight computers, a plenty of places to relax and read. The selection is great as well! As a teacher, I'm always on the hunt for new children's books and have been pleasantly surprised each time I visit. I've always found something that was on my list! I browsed the little bookstore and purchased a 1000 piece puzzle from Springbok and two cd's all for just $5.00. There is a children's room right at the front of the entrance. Also at the front of the entrance are a nice selection of mobility aids for those that need a little assistance getting around. The entrance itself is full of beautiful plants, trees and scenic decorations, making the entire vibe very welcoming. There is a computer room in the far back, a heft section of nothing but large print books. The front desk people were very knowledgeable and friendly.

The Flint Public Library is one of my favorite gems in the Flint community. Everyone should stop…read moreby, visit and pick up a free library card too! Even if you aren't local, it's a cozy and modern place with comfortable seating, several private rooms and an uplifting environment. I love studying here and like to switch up the room or seating area I choose to study at just for a change of pace. They have private rooms and comfortable seating both on the main floor and upstairs level as well as handicap accessible bathrooms and water dispensers on both the floors too. They also have a few outdoor seating spots for outdoor studying too. The few times I interacted with the staff have always been positive experiences, as they are friendly and quick to greet. I really appreciate how this library has a children's learning center too, that you can see on your right hand side as soon as you pass the main entrance. Side note, I have had no issues with the WiFi not working either--important! So if you're looking for a cozy place to study, or have a meeting, or just relax that has plenty of sunlight and open window access, then definitely visit the Flint Public Library!

24 Hour Library…read more Kresge has been my dwelling place for late nights of cramming. The library has wonderful amenities that are available for students as well as guests. I love the interlibrary loan and the writing resources for students. The library website can be the best resource a hard-working student can have. Library OneSearch is a new search engine that features everything from the library catalog and other library databases. OneSearch also includes scholarly content publishers and view results ranked by relevance. The library is now open 24/5 for OU Students from Sunday through Thursday and closes at 2 on Fridays and Saturdays.
