When I entered the building I was overcome with joy in seeing the huge, clear aquarium; so beautiful! There is a mighty, huge blue fish in the tank. I must admit, I felt bad for such a big fish being in a small tank but it sure was a wonder to admire him. There is a section up front where you can purchase used books and puzzles. Further to the right is the children's area full of fun items to explore. The main area is so pretty, I felt like I might have wandered into a ski lodge with the fireplace going and floor to ceiling windows displaying Michigan winter glory. There is a pretty courtyard for viewing. There is a resource room for using printers and computers. The employees were knowledgeable and friendly.

Being as I don't live in Oxford but had a student at the High School, I knew I wanted to belong to this library. For me, there is a limit on how much I can take out at one time, but that's ok. I still have full access to everything they provide. Back when my daughter was in school, she participated in a lot of the young adult things they had going on, even volunteered during the summer to help with programs. I've always thought the crafts idea was great-they have them for all ages and in more recent years, my step-son has been enjoying the crafts. He also has used the play area where they have puzzles, kid computers, puppets, books, etc. I haven't been able to get him to any fun events-but there seems to have been some good ones.... We mostly over the past year have been checking out books, movies, even music. Of course last year, 2020 was a tough year and everyone had to learn how to do business in a new way, updated ways, or completely different. But libraries seem to have held strong and I certainly appreciate them! They have a summer reading program I try to be a part of where you can win prizes. I've been able to set goals for myself with this as a tool to get some reading done! I THINK they may have a winter program-but have to check on that one.... This year I've been taking advantage of the adult section of the library-it's huge! Lots of books, new book section easy to find, an area with computers-some nooks of quiet spots where you can bring your own computer and work quietly. Lots of sitting areas, some by the big fireplace that gets lit in the afternoons during winter. And-huge windows along the back looking out over the trail & new playground Oxford put up this summer. I have enjoyed spending hours here this fall as I have 2 people working remotely from home and it's a nice break for me. I can get on my computer in silence or read a book! Last thing I want to mention is you must wear a mask when going inside. They do have signs up for that. If you don't have one, they usually have some right when you walk in.

I love the interlibrary loan and the writing resources for students. The library website can be the best resource a hard-working student can have. Library OneSearch is a new search engine that features everything from the library catalog and other library databases. OneSearch also includes scholarly content publishers and view results ranked by relevance. The library is now open 24/5 for OU Students from Sunday through Thursday and closes at 2 on Fridays and Saturdays.

I tried to ignore it, turning my headphones up, but I continued to hear the one talking to customers on the phone (and not using her quiet voice). I waited and tried to talk to her nicely, but she did not get off the phone and I had to go. I did mention my dismay to one of the nice ladies and the book check-out desk. I cannot understand for the life of me, WHY they would put and INFORMATION desk, where people talk, just 20 feet from a quiet reading area????? This makes absolutely no sense to me, and it made me angry! And yes, I did check out the "quiet study rooms", but they were all taken. This library needs to move the information desk (which is right in the middle of the library) to another part of the Library, and also strategically put up some soft partitions, maybe. Just an idea. I browsed the little bookstore and purchased a 1000 piece puzzle from Springbok and two cd's all for just $5.00. There is a children's room right at the front of the entrance. Also at the front of the entrance are a nice selection of mobility aids for those that need a little assistance getting around. The entrance itself is full of beautiful plants, trees and scenic decorations, making the entire vibe very welcoming. There is a computer room in the far back, a heft section of nothing but large print books. The front desk people were very knowledgeable and friendly.

She suggested the Bloomfield Township Public Library and admittedly, I was a bit hesitant at first. However, I was in need of somewhere quiet to connect to video calls and I didn't have much time, so I somewhat begrudgingly headed over. Wow - I was blown away by the beautiful space - both indoor and out. There are plenty of friendly staff members to help answer your questions, obviously tons of books, a large and colorful children's area, an outdoor area, a vending machine area, computer area, plenty of desks, and private rooms for members. I am not a resident or member, so I headed outside to a beautiful terrace and I'm now back for my second day working here because I loved it so much. I haven't looked too deeply, but there also appear to be programs for community members of all ages to partake in - from book clubs and writers groups to knitting groups, summer craft kits, language conversation groups, speed dating with a book, and so much more. I'm literally so impressed with everything this library has to offer. I will be back and this may inspire me to also visit my own library back home. While in the process of packing and moving, the kids and I took a break from visiting our library. I didn't want to borrow material and then possibly loose items during the move. The Graubner Library is located just north of 30 Mile Rd, on Van Dyke and was the closest to our new home. On our 1st visit I was throughly impressed. Not only with the size and amenities available at this public library but with the staff, that was more than welcoming, friendly and helpful. They signed me and 3 of my children up for our own library cards. My kids got a kick out of having their own cards, as this was a first for them. Since moving to our new home we have been to this library a half a dozen times, in just 8 weeks. We have borrowed approximately 30 items, including books, magazines and DVDs. Can you tell we really love the library! This library, as with all other libraries I've been to gets 5 Stars from me. How can they not!? This is a FREE service and resource center available to EVERYONE!! Kids and adults should really take advantage and make use of your public library. People "read" too much on their phones/devices. I've been saying, for years, books will soon be extinct, and then what!?! That would be a sad day, to not have anymore documented text/reading material. It will be a hard sought after thing like the Bible in the Book of Eli. (Haven't seen it- go to the library and borrow it! Fantastic movie with Denzel Washington) Pick up a book. Turn real pages. There's three floors with a separate section for children, teens and adults along with the traditional categories. They hold book readings, used book sales and author talks.
