I recently stayed at Aloft Hotels for a work conference. Overall, it was an okay stay, but I would not want to return. The room itself was clean, but the overall feel of the property seemed a bit worn. The carpet and lobby areas looked dingy, and the decor felt somewhat cheap. While nothing was outright dirty, the atmosphere didn't feel as fresh as I would have wanted or expected. On the positive side, the bed and pillows were comfortable enough, and I slept reasonably well. The location was good in that there were plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance, including sushi, BBQ, seafood, and Mexican options. That aspect made it very convenient during a busy conference schedule. One downside: several of my colleagues experienced no hot water throughout our stay. I personally only had warm water, but it sounds like it was a broader issue. Overall, it was a decent stay for work due to the location, but the property could use some updating and better maintenance to improve the overall experience. read more

I stayed at Aloft Richardson for a work trip. It was my first time at this Aloft location. Admittedly Aloft isn't my favorite of the Marriott chains, but I felt like it was on par with other Alofts I've stayed around the United States. I checked into the hotel around 6pm on a Sunday. The reception area was not busy at all, so I quickly got checked in by the friendly front desk staff member. Appreciate when my room preferences listed on my Marriott Bonvoy profile are honored. Bonus points for getting a considerably big room especially when I was staying 4 nights. I also had a nice view of the CityLine plaza below, which offered a decent selection of eateries. In general I had no issues with the room. The bed and pillows were comfy, so I had restful sleep each night. I was surprised by how many channels the TV had, including premium networks, so I didn't miss out on any shows. HOT WATER IS A PROBLEM! My shower was incredibly finicky. I would have to turn the handle all the way to hot, which didn't feel very hot. Then when I hopped into the shower the water would be scalding. I would have to turn the handle the slightest to cold to maintain lukewarm. On one day, the water wouldn't heat up at all and I had to take cold showers. On another day, the warm water turned to cold in the middle of the shower. I found that this was not only a problem for me, but also for my coworkers. The fitness room was tiny and had limited equipment. There were a couple of cross trainers, treadmills, and stationary bikes; one weight rack; one multi-functional power rack, and a couple of medicine balls. They had padded pilates mats, which was good for floor work if you could find the space. I used the gym around 6:15am and was the first person there. All the equipment quickly filled up. read more

This is my first time staying at an aLoft and it came as a suggestion from someone else traveling with us. I will say for the price point is was nice and had a good location. We came in for a family baby shower and the location couldn't have been closer. When we checked in we were told the following day we would have no running water from 10am - 6pm. This changed the entire plan of the day since everyone had to shower and be ready before 10am. That was really annoying. Once we got back from the baby shower we had to go to a local bar or restaurant to use the restroom and have anything to drink/eat. Luckily, the place is surrounded by businesses however all were pretty pricey for something as simple as a beer. We thought about enjoying a drink at the hotel bar XYZ but at night the place seems to turn in to nightclub basically, which isn't our vibe. It was okay, but doubt I will stay there again. Hopefully other aLofts are better than this. read more

This place has the best customer service and everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to help us. When we got there they were extremely friendly and when we needed to switch rooms and had to call three times to coordinate which room to move to, they were very accommodating and very patient with us. They upgraded us to a super nice room. They also let us go to the pool whenever we wanted. At breakfast they were very generous towards us. This hotel has the most wonderful customer service and I would definitely stay here again. read more

While this place is clean and modern we had water issues. We arrived later in the evening and had no warm water and subpar water pressure. We went to let the front desk know and they said they'd recently had someone working on it and try again in the morning. After looking at some reviews, this is apparently not a new thing. While this location is convenient to where I needed to bed there were a few hiccups that kept this from being a fantastic stay. The staff was friendly. The drinks at the bar were decent but at a higher price of course. Limited food options to purchase for breakfast. On the first day there they had a leak in their plumbing which left me without any water pressure on my bathroom . I was only informed of this because I called to check on what was going on. There was a timeframe provided that they were aware of the situation and have been working on it since last night, it was 10:30AM when I called. The next morning the water wouldn't get warm, so it was a quick shower day! When I created the reservation I requested a late check out since the conference I was in town for was ending later than noon. They accommodated and pushed it back by one hour. My room was cleaned daily however the last day there I didn't notice until I went to take a shower that I didn't have any washcloths. When I called down the gentleman did apologize for the mishap and advised he was the only one at the front desk and asked if I could come down stairs to get them , he would have them waiting for me. There is a pool at this location however I didn't have an opportunity to use it. They however board games and computer space in the lobby/bar area and lawn games outside. There is a parking lot located behind the hotel and there is also an event space there which I personally didn't see. read more

I agree with one of the recent reviews....the hotel is clean and modern (a little too modern for my taste, but that's just personal preference). Parking is easy and free (huge bonus). The location is wonderful and close to so many things. Be advised that there is NO HOT WATER in the showers, luke warm at best, and minimal water pressure. From reading past reviews, this is an ongoing problem. The thermostat is another issue. It is not possible to really control the temperature in the room. Marriott puts governors on the thermostats. You can put in a temperature over 65 degrees. At that point, you are at the mercy of the HVAC system if you get heat or cold air. I don't like hot air blowing on me when I sleep, and I was up and down all night due to being too hot or cold. The room is on the smaller side, so it also gets stuffy easily. If you are warm natured, be aware of this. Also, Marriott is trying to be "green" and conserve water, so the toilet won't flush down solid mater (poop) unless you flush THREE times at a minimum. And I'm not talking about a 500 lb man that just ate at the all you can eat buffet size of poop....just normal poop. This is the fourth Marriott owned hotel that I've recently stayed at that had these issues, so I'm thinking it's a Marriott corporation thing. I will prefer to stick w/ Hyatt and Hilton if at all possible. It is a shame, because Marriott has some beautiful properties, but if you can't sleep and can't take a hot shower, it doesn't matter how pretty the decor is. The AC Marriott in Washington DC and the Marriott in Grand Cayman have similar problems. The desk clerk at check out was kind. When I told her I was excited to get home to take a hot shower she told me that this was a problem with a lot of the rooms and asked if I wanted to be put on "the compensation list" for my inconvenience. I said, "yes maam, please put me on that list". So we will see what compensation Marriott offers...... read more

This is my 3rd visit at this particular hotel. I've been satisfied with each visit. The rooms are always clean and welcoming. The staff is great also the views. There is a lot of eateries in the area and also a Whole Foods. This locations is on the outskirts of Dallas. Very clean area and there's a dog park. read more

*HISPANICS/LATINOS WE ARE NOT WELCOME* I have stayed at this property before with no issues as a PLATINUM MEMBER. However this was my first encounter with the manager Cameron who blatantly discriminated and abused his power. What happened: 5am flight to Dallas, called the night before for an early check in I work an all night event. Was informed they could not honor that so I asked if i could cancel and stay at another Marriott Property. "Sorry buddy that will be a cancellation fee" my response wasn't the best but at no time did I raise my voice or call them names. CAMERON DECIDED TO CANCEL WITHOUT MY CONSENT and refuses to waive the cancellation fee. I am a traveling sales rep I will not be able to expense this and it personally cost me $200. From the minute he saw the name Hector I could tell I wasn't his preferred guest. Marriott you can do better, Hilton I hope you enjoy my 70 nights a year. Again if you're LATINO, expect to have some looks given to you by staff Pro tip: loyalty members AVOID this hotel like the plague, if Cameron throws a tantrum and decides to cancel and charge you, Marriott support has no way to reverse charge after the fact. read more

Breakfast buffet was decent. It's seems to be a newer hotel, but built at a discount price (towel and toilet paper bars crooked). Totally my fault, but I left my phone charger plugged into the wall and it was a nice one. At first they said they had it and they would mail it to me (I told them I would pay for shipping), then when I called back to check on it the charger had mysteriously disappeared. This place at first glance looks nice. But under the covers there are issues While here only one elevator was working The pillows on the beds are laughable. We really needed double what was provided as they are essentially flat by morning But the real issue we experienced is the insane amount of noise created by the array of metal ac units right outage our window in 206. They were loud even though someone thought putting a pony wall between them and the room windows. The real noise issue became apparent at 3am when it started raining and those metal ac units became an orchestra of ping ping ping....all night. It was so loud we originally thought it was hail. But no, just rain. For hours For potential guests...REFUSE rooms 202,204,206,2"8 and 210 if rain ia in the forecast until management mitigates the sound issues. For management...these rooms really should not be in service. You have been warned read more

Update- We stay here all the time and love it. Their front desk staff is outstanding especially Cade. He always has a smile on his face and makes hotel guests feel welcome. What a great guy and employee! There pool is small but very nice. The outdoor plaza always is filled with people and sometimes they have music or a festival. Great hotel! -- We really like the Aloft. Great location and can walk to so many terrific restaurants. They allow dogs to stay at no additional cost which is a huge plus! Very close to DART so can go anywhere along the rail line quickly. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Rooms have great views - north side has the courtyard/plaza view and the south side has the dog park view. We book direct through Marriott with the AAA membership discount which saves a lot of money. read more

Called down at 4pm and they said they had the water heater repaired the day before and would send someone down to check. 11am the following morning problem is still not fixed. Employee I spoke to seemed to not care at all and couldn't tell me if or when the problem would ever be fixed. No idea if the issue was ever resolved as we decided to find a new hotel. read more

I would give this -10 stars if I could. I had the most awful experience here I checked in on 12 December and had no hot water. On 13 December having utilized the gym to work out for my workday, I returned and there was still no hot water, it was freezing cold. I notified the manager that there was two days of cold water and the manager Cameron not accommodating, in fact, he was rude. He would not let me check out stating that there was a plumber fixing the hot water. I had to go to a friend's house shower and prepare for my day. Cameron promised that the water would be fixed by end of day. Saturday as I was exiting the elevator I ran into a lady who said that there was no hot water since that Monday. This hotel allowed me to check in under false pretenses, knowing full well that there was no hot water and did not give me the option to make a decision whether maintain my reservation. We pay for the basic human necessities staying at hotels. This is completely unacceptable. After much debate with Cameron, he finally promised to refund me for the next day +25% off for the two previous days and Marriott credits. Well, we can guess how that goes. I did call my credit card company and they called Cameron and he promised to refund me $197, and the 25% off which I still haven't received. He was very reluctant and rude to even give that knowing full well he was deceptive and what was going on with the hotel. I would never recommend anyone checking into this hotel. Had a good experience here. Despite a few things. Mainly being covid. Hotel! It's great! Location is in a nice business center area with walking distance to donuts, restaurants, and cookies. The hotel is a little confusing if you're just trying to park your car and walk in. No clear directions to the parking lot (which is in the rear of the hotel). Parked on the side street and checked in. The little hotel bar is closed, bummer. The restaurants around all close around 9. Second bummer. Got checked in, super good experience here. Polite. Inviting. Friendly. Hooked me up with a 8th floor park view. The room: smelled clean. You know when you walk in and everything smells like freshness. Ah it was nice. Room was a nice size, TV was big! Faced the bed so no awkward watching angles. One thing I hated was the window. Loved how you had a nice view right outside but there was only a blackout shade. No privacy veil. So it was either pitch black or open. No in-between. Deal breaker? No way. Mild annoyance? Yep. Water was hot in the shower and had nice lighting. Read before you get a room. I stayed here about a year ago for a conference. Rooms were clean, smelled nice. Love the live music at night. So I decided to stay here again a few weeks ago. The first room smelled so bad I had to ask for a different room he apologized and said the new cleaning products were making a lot of people sick. The second room still smelled but I decided to stay. I tried the pool but it was green and very dirty. I woke up in the middle of the night super itchy. I had bites all over my back. I was so frustrated I got up and left. I tried to reach out to customer service and tell them there are bugs in the room. He was so rude and said no one else cared. I recommend This amazing hotel ! We used this hotel for our daughters wedding . We blocked the room for out of town guests . Becky was absolutely amazing !! She took good care of us and made sure everything ran smoothly . Everyone just loved this area that the hotel is located in . They work with cross creek ranch where we had the venue, and they had a shuttle to and from the reception for our drinking guests. It was just perfect . They were right on time. Booked this hotel for two nights while in town for business. Never stayed at an Aloft, so thought I'd give it a try. This one visit had turned me off to the brand completely. When I arrived for check-in noticed the bar and pool table (in lobby??) were packed full of people, the employee of the front desk being one of them. Checked in, went to my room and was disappointed by the stark, empty room. Beds are terrible, slipping and sliding all over the polished wood base. Tried to sleep at night with strange banging sound all night in hallway. Woke up the next morning to take a shower. Turned on the water, scalding hot. Turned it down slightly, freezing cold. There is no in-between. Came back to room both days, no cleaning of room. Trash can is still full, coffee machine empty. Oh, and the HBO "streaming" is out of order. Avoid at all costs. I've been here for two nights out of an 8 night stay and I'm dreading the other 6. My company booked me here. I don't believe this hotel is not intended for people staying more than 48 hours. There have been minor issues that I overlooked but this morning takes the cake. I ordered a plant based sandwich with all vegan fixings. I was served a non vegan sandwich. I informed the person that made it and she looked perplexed and walked away. I then informed the front desk, ordered it again and requested not to be charged for it because as a vegan...my sensibilities and all that were wronged. We can fight about that later. Request was granted. I waited for roughly 10 minutes for the next sandwich and was approached by the employee at the front desk who helped me reorder and was asked if I was waiting for something. The person says "oh. I thought you canceled that." Me- "you thought I canceled something I didn't want you to charge me for? I gave the cook back my sandwich and asked you for another." "Oh. Okay. Let me tell her." I left in a huff. The Wi-Fi is also nonexistent!! I don't know which one of the two is worse. Whatever your doing in Dallas, don't stay here. You'll be disappointed. read more

We had a wedding party and reserved rooms over a month in advance. Spent 2 hours on the phone requesting connecting rooms because we have 3 small children. Was told to call the hotel the week before to confirm they can accommodate us. Did that and was told Yes plus early check in between 10:00 and 11:00. Called again the evening before to confirm again. Was told yes everything is good. Get there to check in and was told can't check in plus done have connecting rooms available. I told them I had called 3 times , to which the manager replied that's just a request. We can't guaranty anything. Will never recommend or do business with them or Marriott again!! This hotel is in an up and coming mixed use development in Richardson. The hotel it's self was nice, clean, and new. The room was spotless and I could see sweeper marks on the carpet! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Reason for 3 stars then? I originally reserved a room with a balcony with the highest rate ($194-ish). When I went to check in they didn't have this room style ready so I settled for a king suite (next size room down from my understanding and no balcony) but they charged me the same rate? It was for work and I was being refunded, so whatever but it's just the point. Once I get in the room, I realize there is only one AC unit... in the living room. It could be the fact that I was in dallas on 100* plus days but the bedroom portion of the room NEVER cooled down. I like to sleep around 65* and with one AC unit the room just never cooled down. It couldn't keep up. Lastly, the shower set up is dysfunctional. The door swings in and not out. So when you turn the shower on and close the door your arm will get soaked. Also, getting in the shower is difficult as you have to go through the water to get in and be able to shut the door. They should have made it so they swing out, I have stayed at plenty of aloft hotels and this was a first. Oh, and parking is limited! Try to get back early so you can snag a spot out back - otherwise you're fighting the general public for parallel parking or the public garage. But no knocks to the staff, they were great and the things I disliked about this hotel isn't anything in their power. read more

Great room, nice surrounding area, and a very pet friendly policy including no pet fee. At only $84 a night I was really impressed. I've paid double for worse rooms. I really did my research before booking Aloft, and it really paid off. Everywhere else was the same price with dated, dusty looking rooms, along with $50-100 pet fees. There's also currently a large grassy lot next door that many dogs use as a temporary dog park. Really couldn't have been a better place to stay as a dog owner. Even without a dog it was a great hotel that was very clean and had a modern flair. I've already been recommending it to anyone asking where I'm staying. read more

Hotel is in a lively faux city square in walking distance of several restaurants. As with aloft concepts it's modern and streamlined with a friendly well appointed staff. Lobby has a good size bar and pool table. Work out facility is small but has all of the basics you need to get swoll. It overlooks the pool and the courtyard. The room was clean with nice crisp linens on the bed. Front desk was very responsive to my noise complaint regarding an adjacent room. Some jerk felt it necessary to play his guitar from 9 pm to midnight. read more

We chose this hotel to accommodate our family coming in for our daughters wedding this past weekend, April 22, 2023 and let me tell you, from the very beginning... to the very end- they made sure all my family members felt welcomed! 23 rooms booked and NOT one family member had an issue. The bridal suite was amazing and HUGE!! Our daughter, her bridal party and myself were able to have our makeup artist and hair stylist do our hair and makeup in there. Besides that, Cameron was an excellent shuttle driver to our venue!! Thankful for the back and forth shuttles!!! The lobby kept our family entertained.. pool table, bar, lots of room to catch up with family... Omg not to mention the grapefruit water in the lobby!! My family LOVE THAT STUFF! I just really appreciated everything!!! Also thank you to Ellen Wiley & Becky Milkie for the first initial contact to the last updated head count! If I could give zero stars, that would be my rating. My in-laws stayed here over Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving Day, there was no housekeeping! The manager said that they don't have housekeeping on holidays because they were not a "service hotel." This morning, there was no breakfast to speak of. What they had was still on the counters this afternoon at 5:30. That's not safe to eat. To be fair, the room was nice. But it's not worth the aggravation. read more

If you are a smoker you may have an issue. When I checked out I was charged with a "smoking fee" even though I was 8 months pregnant and no one smoked inside the room. My partner smoked outside of the hotel as he ALWAYS does and because the smell of "smoke" doesn't just go away when you walk into a room, it was assumed someone had smoked in the room. The manager was VERY unaccommodating and had no interest in hearing me out. I travel frequently for work, and will no longer be staying at Marriot hotels because of this experience. read more

I still wish it was better: Location is its only advantage. But cheap, scarce everything. Even their breakfast voucher offered to us at no cost for their very serious error at my check-in (about that below) was so slow in coming & incorrect that it was not useable. Room for a week with supplies for a day. 1970s level storage & shelving. And my check-in: Tho their system had approved my payment (confirmed by my bank), they denied it had done so, possibly because of their old fashioned credit card terminal, and they repeatedly tried to charge again over multiple days, resulting in my credit card being permanently cancelled due to suspected fraud by the hotel. Their GM refused to help find an alternative way to Pay Them & told me to ask my bank which had already confirmed the hotel had my payment. It was their front desk supervisor Cameron who ultimately was able to let me Pay Them at checkout without using their card terminal. Ultimately a stressful week's stay at Aloft Richardson TX not knowing for all those days if they would finally do what was right. read more

I've stayed here twice in a year and was hoping it would stay elite but....... First time was good no real issues except parking not enough. Second time first room had smell changed rooms and second room still wasn't fresh and clean like you would expect from this chain that motel smell instead of hotel clean. And of course parking again wasn't issue if you come back late very small lot and back and not enough street parking especially when surrounded by apartments and office buildings. read more
