I will preface that I retired from the medical community after 20 years of service. I'm disappointed to see that patient care and customer service are not a priority in this office. I scheduled an appointment two weeks ago. I had to take 4 hours off to come to my dental appointment and to put it in perspective my wage for 4 hours is $160. First off, I did not receive an appointment reminder. I looked on the website an hour and a half before my appointment time to confirm my own appointment because the website lists they are closed on Friday's. Receptionist states they were open and I let her know that the website says differently. Secondly, I arrive at the dentist office "on time." Finally, Surprise. Surprise. Door locked. I called the office --once again -- because I did not realize there are two locations in Waipahu. It would be nice if there was a note on the door or the appointment clerk directed new patients to the correct office in advance. I will not be using this office for my families dental care needs.

This review is strictly base on my office experience, or lack thereof, on my last visit. Let me…read morestart by saying I've been seeing Dr. Okihiro for almost 20 years, that should give you an idea about how I feel about his level of service and expertise as a dentist. That being said I would hate to have to find another dentist because the office fails to communicate proactively and productively. Prior to my last visit I was given a quote for a crown, which would have been a two part visit, one visit to prep, the next visit to solidify the crown. Upon the completion of my first visit I made a payment which was higher than I expected it to be. Curious, I asked what would my final payment be after my second visit and I was told an amount which was about 4 times more than what I was expecting. It was explained to me that my insurance wouldn't be covering the service so I would be responsible for the full amount. To say I was shocked was an understatement, I wanted to cancel my next appointment. The office admin encouraged me to keep the next appointment and maybe work out a payment plan with the office manager. I waited for a call from the office manager that never came, instead a received a text message that reads as follows: "Hi XXX, due to circumstances, we are unable to keep your appointment on (insert date here), if you were planning on going through with the crown. We will be cancelling that appointment until you are ready to reschedule it or if you ever want to reschedule it. Thank you and have a great day!" I called the office twice and received their voicemail. I did not leave a message. I replied to the text asking to have their office manager call me. I have not received a call back. A simple phone call to let me know the price had changed, when they found out my insurance wouldn't cover the appointment, would have been extremely helpful. Instead they wait until my first appointment was completed to tell me the price had changed and they didn't volunteer the information, I had to ask. Very poor communication on their part and no accountability. I'm very disappointed.
