I trust Dr. Mori with all my pets! 3 cats and 3 dogs. I have two cavaliers that have been coming here since they were old enough to eat solid food. Also, our new puppy, an Irish wolfhound, has recently started seeing her. The whole staff is always so attentive and friendly. Treats are always on hand. Our cats get their annual catnip fix while getting checked out. And it's not just the scheduled appointments! It's very unfortunate having to make this review. I started taking my dog here in 2023 around when they first opened and I got my first dog. For the first few years they were great, but I'm not entirely sure what happened. Everything was fine when it was just my dog, but then I started owning cats as well. Most notable experience was when my husband found an abandoned kitten (no mother, neighbors said she was dumped). I brought her in immediately for testing and she had mites and tested positive for worms. The problem is, no one communicated to me that she had the worms. No one called me after the test results were in, no one called me to pick up medication, I only found out after I took her in for another checkup around a week later and the vet asked how she was doing with the medicine. Also to mention the decline of phone availability. I remember multiple times I left a message/text asking for a call back, but no one ever did. I had to repeatedly call and leave messages until they did. I then switched vets, in doing so, they didn't send me the full and complete records for my animals. The new vet had to call, and even then, notes and information were missing so I've had to fill in missing pieces from memory. It's really unfortunate, I loved this office at first, but I've had one too many negative experiences to be able to confidently bring my pets back. read more

Just took our new Rottie puppy to see Dr. Mori, since she had taken care of our previous one who passed away. They were all GREAT with making Coco feel comfortable with her first visit there and with getting shots and exam, which is not how she was treated when we took her for her first shots from another vet over in Iron Station. If zero was an option then that would be my score. Worst vet I've ever been to. Took my kitty here for first visit since we were new to the area. They did bloodwork and labs BUT never ever showed me any results. Never. Even when I asked for them. They never sent them to me. I'm not convinced they even did them. Put my cat on new medicine and a week and a half later she is dead. No one ever answers the phone when you call. I don't know how they stay in business. Beware of this place. If I had never taken my cat here then she would probably still be alive. read more

brought my dog to Dr. Mori after she ingested plastic at the end of May. I sent the clinic her full medical records and a two-page list of allergies -- we have been managing her severe allergies for years. Per specialists' recommendations, she is on a long-term, low-dose prednisone regimen (a couple days a week) because she is allergic to so many things. When she gets a hold of plastic, she typically vomits bile once or twice and then has explosive diarrhea for the next couple of days. At the initial visit the clinic prescribed probiotics, anti-diarrheal medication, and switched her to a gastrointestinal (GI) diet. That treatment would resolve things for about 3-4 weeks, then the same pattern returned. I had leftover medication at home, ordered new probiotics and probiotic paste, and continued the GI food, but the episodes recurred about a month later. Because I was out of town, I called the clinic to arrange bringing her in. The conversation with the veterinarian was upsetting and unhelpful. Key points from that interaction: * I was questioned in an accusatory tone about why I hadn't brought her back since May, even though I had been following the clinic's prior instructions. Staff even snickered and said they "highly doubt" I had any meds left, despite the fact that I did. * The vet told me there was "absolutely no way" plastic could still be in her stomach because "she'd be vomiting daily." I explained that soft plastic can remain in the stomach, intermittently irritate the lining, and cause episodic vomiting and diarrhea -- exactly the pattern we've observed -- but my concerns were dismissed. * At one point, she asked me if there was a way we could "just prevent her from getting plastic." Of course, we do everything possible to keep her safe, but as any dog owner knows, accidents can still happen. We cannot literally hold her and monitor her every second of the day -- she is a dog, and these things sometimes happen despite best efforts. * The vet said she would prefer to refer us out for an ultrasound and recommended a GI panel, yet instead of arranging timely imaging she ultimately gave my dog the same medications I already had at home and scolded me for not bringing her in sooner. I had requested imaging (x-ray or ultrasound) back in May and never received it. * I later received an estimate that did not disclose the ultrasound would be performed by a mobile third-party service (this was never explained). At checkout my son -- who handled the visit while I was away -- had my card charged even though I had emailed clear instructions to use CareCredit if the total exceeded a certain amount. Additional issues across visits: * Staff repeatedly attempt to give my dog treats despite my explicit instructions not to, because she is allergic to nearly everything. * I informed Dr. Mori that the GI food she recommended contains ingredients my dog is allergic to; her response was essentially, "just keep her on it for life," which is unsafe and dismissive given her documented allergies. * I was lectured about prednisone (liver risks, dermatology referrals, etc.) even though specialists had already evaluated and recommended this regimen, and I had already pursued dermatology and other options. The vet also suggested diets that include ingredients my dog is allergic to, ignoring the allergy list I provided. * Most concerning, Dr. Mori insinuated that we do not let our dog out to relieve herself and that she "can't be locked up that long," saying something along the lines of "somebody's gotta take her out -- she can't hold it that long." This implication was both offensive and inaccurate. When my son is in town, he takes care of the dogs. When he is not, we have a pet sitter who comes daily. To suggest otherwise was unprofessional and dismissive of the care we clearly provide. Given the combination of dismissive communication, failure to follow allergy instructions, lack of transparency about who would perform diagnostic testing, and mishandling of payment, I will not be returning to this clinic. read more

This is a very attractive facility rivaling in appearance any other vet in this area. The staff is good, some great and a few almost good. The vet/owner is compassionate and a good listener. She is heads above the two other vets I experienced but because of demand is sometimes difficult to get on her schedule or get a prompt call back. A little more expensive then some other facility but it's worth it if you can afford it. read more

Dr. Rouco has made such a positive impact on my life. She has been there for me through all the highs and lows of owning pets. She has taken care of my pugs since 2017. Dr. Rouco is an outstanding veterinarian. She's the one who helped me get through Mr. Bojangles' dying of aggressive cancer. She is also the veterinarian helping me learn how to handle dog seizures. I trust Dr. Rouco and Aloha, they're always there for me. What an amazing team! (The facility is pretty rad too) Oh, and just wait until you hear Dr. Rouco laugh. My dog is part chihuahua and very nervous and anxious away from home. She is very relaxed and calm when I take her here . The environment reminds you of a nice Doctor's office not a vet place. I would highly recommend this place. Our 17 yr old Rosie couldn't breath. After driving to the emergency at Denver and they turned us away during the snow storm weekend. We happen to fine this place and they squeezed us in. They were so kind and caring. Unfortunately we had to put Rosie down but it was with care and in my wife's arms. I cannot say enough about this place. We had just moved here and didn't have a regular vet. But if we do get another family member I will certainly go here. read more

We moved from out of state to Troutman in late September and the move was very stressful for my elderly cat. He began losing weight and not eating his prescription food. I researched vets in the area and was fortunate to find Aloha. Everyone there was kind and welcoming. Dr. Mori is an exceptional vet, caring, knowledgeable and thorough. After diagnosing my cat the prognosis was not good and we discussed ways to make his remaining time as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I was told they would be there when I needed them and they kept that promise.
