What a wonderful caring doctor's office visit I've had. Came in yesterday, the receptionist did such a fantastic job getting me in with my frantic schedule. Dr. Megan Monroe did a procedure for me and highly exceeded my expectations for coming there, the procedure was quick and easy, she had wonderful beside manner, with just amount of talk to wish away the pain from a couple of pain killer shots. The most amazing thing - results looks great. A procedure that I've had done before. After Dr Monroe's visit a whole completely different look on the amount of pain I should have had in the past and on this visit I was amazed how pain-free the procedure could be, when putting care in the right hands. On July 19 of this year, my 18 year old daughter went to see Dr. Delilah Alonso for the first time because her dermatologist was booked and had no appointments. She was concerned about a pink spot on her nose that appeared in March. She was seen by the doctor herself, not the PA. She spent a rushed amount of time with her. She pointed out her concern to her and her diagnosis was acne vulgaris. She prescribed Ximino and Aczone for her face. She squeezed it and mentioned that it was now irritated and recommended she return for a chemical peel. She tried to get her to buy some products from her office that cost around $300. Since she is only 18 she called me and I told her to hold off on the products and the chemical peel. In August, she went away to college and this month she followed up with a dermatologist in New Orleans because the pink spot would not go away. She right away suggested doing a biopsy. Last week I was called and told that she has Basal Cell Carcinoma and she needs to have surgery. In other words, Dr. Alonso MISDIAGNOSED my daughter. Dr. Alonso charged BCBS $462 for her consult and I was responsible for $131 out of my pocket. I called Dr Alonso and spoke with the PA. She was extremely apologetic and compassionate when she spoke to me. Unfortunately, when I spoke with Dr. Alonso she was the total opposite. She was arrogant and defensive. She targeted me and my daughter by stating "IF SHE WAS SO CONCERNED ABOUT THE SPOT WHY DIDNT SHE OR I ASK HER TO DO A BIOPSY" I told her because we did not go to medical school! I requested my out of pocket of $131 be returned. Dr. Alonso had her payroll department call me to advise that she would not refund any money. I would never recommend Dr. Delilah Alonso to anyone and I am notifying BCBS to advise them of what happened. I agree with the negative reviews if you take some time to scroll and read them which all mirror each other. Very pushy about the products she sells and talks in a very rushed way. She's not very receptive to questions you may have about the treatment she is suggesting, instead she will answer you with what her credentials and years in the field have been to justify what she is saying. She comes off with an annoyed disposition that you would even have maybe some hesitation on maybe a part of the treatment she is suggesting or when asking for an alternative, ESPECIALLY if it comes to the products she is trying to personally sell you in her office. Neither Alfonso nor her assistants know what they are doing and to make it worse they refuse responsibility for their ignorance. I called in the morning to make sure "doctor" Alonso office accepted my insurance. They put me on hold while they checked (double checked, as the receptionist stated) and said yes, I was covered. They gave me an appointment for 2 PM the same day. I cancelled my work day so I could go. When I arrived they told me they had to "double check again". To make this sad story short- after a long while, they concluded that they did not know. Thus they could not help me. Then Alonso told me she was doing me a favor as if she took care of me and the insurance refused to pay I would be responsible. These are the people that make us all "Latinos" look bad. Dr. Alonso is quick, she is no-nonsense, and some may consider her rude. But the bottom line is she will change your skin. She wants to help as many people as she can possibly help in an 8 hour day, and so you may feel a little shuttled around, but she will fix any skin problem you have! I have been to her for two major problems and she has changed my skin like no other. My story: I have been to countless dermatologists and aestheticians. I have tried two different birth controls, 5 different oral antibiotics, 6 different topical antibiotics, spirolactone (for 6 years), retinol, hundreds of different face washes, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic glycolic and lactic acids, sulfur, toners, scrubs, you name it. I had been fighting my acne and losing the battle for 8 years. I met Dr. Alonso during a skin emergency (detailed below). She took me in for an emergency appointment the same day I called, saw me for 10 minutes and said "when you come back we will fix your acne". I didn't know what to believe because I had heard this so many times. But when you have a persistent problem like acne, and you go around Miami seeing girls with flawless skin everywhere, you never lose hope. I'm so glad I trusted her. When I went for my acne appointment, she saw me for about 10 minutes and prescribed me an entirely new routine that was affordable! In two weeks my skin had massively cleared up and in about a month and a half my scars were gone! A year later and skin remains clear, even on my time of the month, and I haven't even had to go back for follow up. Every few months I go to her aesthetician Carolina for a face peel and dermaplane (to keep my skin glowing), and it is honestly the most effective facial I've ever had. She treated my roommate's acne too and changed her skin for life as well! Now for the more medical side of her practice. I had been using retinol and went to my favorite spa for a facial. I didn't tell my facialist about the treatment (stupid) so I had a nasty reaction to extractions that essentially took off several layers of skin on my chin. I looked like a zombie. I couldn't go out in public. I called Dr Alonso's office and they made me a same day appointment. She prescribed the most amazing healing lotion, antibiotic, and face wash. After TWO DAYS my skin grew back and there was only a faint pink reminder of the past. This was a miracle. Skin does not grow that fast. I waited my turn , ppl walked in after me as they were called in before me. I approach the desk and told then nicely I needed to be out by 4 since someone was waiting for me at my store . They told me to give them a few minutes . I waited at 3:45 I approches the desk again and told them that I was sorry and had to leave if they could extend the special since it was not my faults . The answer was we will call you tomorrow to see if we can re schedule you and to see if we can extend the special. Wow !!! Dr. Alonso is the best dermatologist I've seen in Miami (and I've seen a lot!) I had a life-long skin condition that she cleared up in, I'm not kidding, 3 days. She is always there for you if you need to come in on short notice with a skin emergency. Her staff is so kind and friendly. You feel like part of the family as soon as you're there. Dr. Alonso is incredibly knowledgeable and no nonsense. She wants to get to the root of your issue without over charging you for unnecessary procedures, creams and ointments. Amazing doctor! Dr. Alonso is extremely knowledgeable! I went to see her for redness on my face and she expertly diagnosed me and placed me on treatments that have made my face look perfect. I just turned 50, but her treatments are turning back the years! She takes time and asks a lot of questions but what I like the most about her is that she truly sits and explains all of the creams and how I am suppose to use them. She provides an INDIVIDUALIZED handout so you can remember what to do in the morning and at night. I've been to so many dermatologists - but she is the only one that has actually cleared up my face. Basically I went here back two years ago, I was 18 and I knew nothing about skincare. My acne was flaring up again (which I now know: Tretinoin would have cleared it up in .2 seconds) first of all, the workers were arguing with the doctor in front of me which Was very uncomfortable. And even though the doctor denies pressuring clients to buy the unnecessary expensive products. I remember being pressured to buying a whole line of skincare by the doctor and an assistant. It felt like they were working against me. I know I was naive and shy and easy to manipulate back then... but jeez it was taken too far. We waited almost 2 hours to be seen and when she came in the room she spent very little time and told us she couldn't remove more than one mole at a time because our insurance would not cover it. My daughter saw the doctor 3 weeks ago. She said she was sending the prescription to the pharmacy. 3 weeks later we still don't have a prescription and my daughter, husband and myself have all tried multiple times each day to get ahold of the office. Dr. Delilah Alonso is the best Dermatologist my family and I has ever had since moving to Miami. My husband, daughters and I see her on a regular basis, due to my daughter eczema that she has completely cleared up after months of other doctors not treating the eczema properly! My husband sees her for his acne, which she has also really helped him with and keeps very controlled with the products she has given him to use. I've seen him much more happy since he has been seeing her and really taking care of his skin now. Before he had no hope and almost just gave up on his face- but now his acne is cleared up and he is happier and more confident! One reason I love her approach is because it's not ALL aesthetics! She suggests vitamins as well. She teaches me "why" why Omega-3's will help my skin, why Glutathione will help brighten my skin, and why Helicore helps my skin from free radicals! I thought I was getting facials from the dermatologist and even requested at my second appointment to see the dermatologist (I'm a physician myself). I only got to see a PA (who was very skilled but slightly abrasive), and apparently the doctor was consulted via iPad (I hope). The facials are also done by a tech. The only time I have seen Dr Alonso is at the initial visit and in her ads. Her staff is skilled and trained well, however they incorrectly sent me a bill and it is hard to get a call back from the office. If I had known I was going to pay cash for a facial from a tech to the tune of $100, I would have opted for a spa. read more

Lazy and rude staff, terribly long wait, and when Dr. Alonso finally arrives she is in a rush. She talks so fast you'll think she must be on meth-amphetamines. Needless to say the doctor makes you feel as if you and your time are not important to her: it is clear that she does not schedules any time to simply sit and speak with you during your visit, she fails to show any empathy for your concerns, and she won't answer any questions you might have. Your pocketbook on the other hand does matter very much to the doctor and her staff. Be prepared for a one-one-one with a staff member before you can leave the office, when you'll be made to listen to a long spiel about the doctor's personal, and expensive line of skincare products. Dr. Alonso has trained her staff very well to peddle product on her behalf. What a horrid experience, nothing of which can be considered professional. Bottom line: Dr. Alonso and her staff are disrespectful of you and your time, lack any sense of integrity, and border on being medically unethical as well. Dr. Alonso saved me! When I first visited her office, she immediately detected a few skin marks that were suspicious for skin cancer. She wasted no time performing biopsies and found a couple that could have become cancerous. She's a no nonsense physician with noticeable expertise in her specialty. I really enjoyed coming here and Delilah and her staff are great but I had to cancel my appointment last minute and they said they would have to charge me $90 cancellation fee. I think that's ridiculous! I understand a $30 cancellation fee but $90! I would never be going back there because of this and won't be referring anyone to her anymore. I'm an on call nurse and and was called to go to work which is why I could not make that appointment, I think this is a policy they need to change! Dr.Alonso is very professional, charismatic, and works wonders! She is also very patient and accommodating to your personal needs. I had my Voluma XC injections done by Dr.Alonso, as some Doctor in NY did a very poor job and she had to fix them. I am very scared of needles and get anxiety before doing any of this type of work done. Dr.Alonso made me feel at ease, was very patient with me, and made my lips beautiful again. I barely felt discomfort during the procedure and she was surprisingly able to calm me down. Furthermore, I have cystic acne from a condition known as PCOS - Dr. Alonso was kind enough to cure one of my cysts in a matter of seconds by injecting the site with medicine and removing the liquid inside of it. Usually this would take 2-3 weeks of living with pain and discomfort on my face for the cyst to naturally go down on its own. I was a bit skeptical to come here because of some of the reviews but after my second visit I say if you have a skin problem, check the doctor out! I had a horrible sunburn on my back that I scratched and it left me uneven pigmentation and a scar on my back. After the doctor prescribed me some hydroquinone it's slowly (but surely) fading! It's still there but it's only been my second follow up. It has been noticeably better but the doctor still wants to keep following up until your problem is gone. She is really quick and very straight forward but she does care for her patients! Heard about this Doctor from my buddy Gisell. Dr. Alonso is funny she talks really fast and is super direct and sort of overbearing at first but its just her personality, she knows her stuff and takes a genuine interest in her patients. She showed me a before and after picture of someone she treated for hyperpigmentation and I was sold. The office is fabulous and the staff, especially the esthetician is amazing. Then I went back and saw the esthetician for extractions and a red carpet peel and my face was glowing.
