The last three years it has been a pack of four of us, and we usually go get a photo with Santa beforehand, then make our way out here with minutes to spare to chop down our tree. I like this place because it's so close to Fort Langley, and afterwards you can go into the small town and browse the antique shops. Dogwood Tree Farms provides you with saws to cut down the trees, so all you have to do is bring your muscles. They have a large field full of different trees, and I have no idea how they tell them all apart. Each tree is priced per foot, so the taller the tree, the more expensive it gets. The tree we ended up picking is about 7 feet tall and cost about $40. It gets a little pricey when you compare it with just getting a tree at Home Depot or something, but I don't mind paying a little extra for the experience, and enduring the car ride filled with terrbile Xmas songs. If you work up a hunger cutting down your tree, they also sell hot dogs, and hot chocolate, so you can put your feet up by the fire and relax. the staff are always very helpful and super nice, and they usually have Xmas songs playing to help spread the holiday cheer. My only wish was that it had actually snowed this year, since every other year when we have gone to get our tree it has. I think this is probably because we had to get our tree so early this year since some of our housemates are heading home for the holidays. Even without the snow, it is definitely an experience you should indulge in to help you feel the Xmas spirit!

One might think that they're going to get a wimpy, low quality tree, but no way. Our cultured Douglas Fir was $7 a foot and more full and perky than any trees I've purchased in years past from "for-profit" lots. It's a frosty project made toasty warm by the volunteer staff who were all really sweet, helpful and humbled by the fact that people buy trees from them. And our beautiful tree? Well I have a feeling it will take us straight through Christmas and right on into the New Year. Oh, and one big merry shout out to yelper Pennylane S who tipped me off to this awesome lot in the first place! PS. They're open until Christmas Eve, everyday from 10am.

Yay! Shout out from celeb Yelper Crystal H!…read more After passing by this lot year after year it was about time to give back in what little way I could. 5 feet of giving back to be specific. All profits from Aunt Leahs' trees go towards housing for women and children as well as education for low income families. They make sure you leave fully informed on where your money is going and there is plenty of take away literature as well. The staffers are extremely friendly and will help prune your tree to your heart's content and load it into your car. There are 4 locations: Vancouver, burnaby, coquitlam, north van. And most years they sell out. Pricing by foot results in it being a little more than your average Superstore or Ikea tree but it's well worth it to be able to give back, even a little.

I am addicted to gardening and have been to many nurseries (especially south of the Fraser) and was very pleased when I finally ventured to this absolute gem on Easter Sunday. The selection and variety is absolutely top notch and the staff are very kind and extremely knowledgeable (take advantage of their expertise!). I really can't say enough about them. They are a little more pricy on some items than some of the nurseries I've gone/go to, but their stock is far superior than anywhere else that I frequent. I have now got my entire family travelling from all over the lower mainland to visit them! Do yourself a big favour and go see for yourself. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised. Happy gardening!

My Mom has also fallen in love with this plant store and insists on coming all the way from White Rock as she likes the varied selection and the quality of the plants. The best part of this store is the customer service. My elderly Mom was already near the check-out and wanted some petunias which were located in the garden centre (way at the back of the store). The lady who helped my Mom did not make her feel bad that she didn't know the name of the flower she wanted and brought her a few colors of the petunias to choose from. Then she needed some potting soil and another clerk went to get her a bag so she didn't have to move from the check-out area. Stellar customer service and products. Will keep on telling people all about this gem in Pitt Meadows!
