My steak dish was so good that I I had nothing to take home for the next day. The person I came with had the half chicken and that was so overdone and dry. It is my fault (she is too shy) that I did not speak up because the people who worked there were so warm and friendly I know they would apologize and change the dish. That's why I give it the extra star. The prices were reasonable and the place was immaculate - so clean, they would have gotten an A rating here in NY. I will go back again. My wife and I were lucky enough to stumble across this gem while attending a wedding weekend nearby. We ditched the welcome dinner and instead had a great meal at Alpamayo. I had never had Peruvian food, but I was happy to finally have a chance to try it. The steak was awesome, as was my wife's chicken. The sangria was awesome. We were on our way home from Albany to Eastern Mass and looking for a place to grab lunch. We thought the Berkshires would be a nice area, so we decided to look around Lee. There were many eateries in the downtown area but we wanted something different. Then we spotted Alpamayo. We had never tried Peruvian food and thought it sounded interesting. More than interesting, it was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The value at lunchtime was fantastic. Our server, Zac, was friendly and informative. This was a great experience from start to finish. We were seated promptly and were given a small container of roasted corn kernels to snack on. They were salty, tasty and different from the run-of-the-mill bread basket. I ordered the Arroz con Camarones (Rice with Shrimp). It was simple and delicious. My wife, who is a bit less adventurous, ordered the quarter chicken dinner. It too was delicious and at $6.99 was a real bargain. My 17-year-old son ordered Aguadito de Pollo (Chicken Soup) and found it to be tasty and diferent. It was green and had a hint of cilantro and contained rice and chopped vegetables. It was a large bowl and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We shared the Tres Leches cake for dessert. I was moist and tasty. Don't let the unassuming exterior dissuade you. We were looking for something different to eat as we were passing through Lee and found this little Peruvian restaurant. Nothing special to look at, but the food was delicious and authentic. We started with the Ceviche de Pescado (fresh and tasty) which was served with a side of fried corn kernels. This was not popcorn, but large corn kernels that remain in tact after frying with just a little salt on them...YUM...these were addictive! We could not stop eating them. For our meals we tried the Pescado en salsa de Camarones and the Bisteck Encebollado - both fresh and delicious. We would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in Lee...and ask for a side of those corn kernels! read more

Authentic Peruvian cuisine is a rare find and Alpamayo did not disappoint! Totally worth the drive from Albany NY (1 1/2hr approx). We had ceviche, choros a la chalaca, anticuchos, jalea, and lomo saltado. Everything was delicious and reminiscent of my time in Lima. Pisco sours were on point. Treat yourself to lucuma ice cream for dessert. Unless you've been to Peru you've never tasted this flavor before - unique and delicious. Our server Maribel was wonderful and although her English is perfect it was really nice to speak Spanish with her too! *Final secret* - After you eat the ceviche, save the juice and pour it into like half a cuzqueña beer and drink it. We're hungry and driving back to CT from visiting Williams College and we are in Lee, Massachusetts. Main Street is adorable with an old-timey, New England feel to it, but I am doubting that you can really find some tasty grub in these parts. I spot a restaurant selling Peruvian food, and since I've enjoyed some Peruvian dishes in the past we decided to give it a try. Mom wasn't hungry, so she got the mussels appetizer, which turned out to be served cold with pico de gallo on top. They were not a hit. Sis and dad ordered the Tallarin Verde con Bisteck which was ok, but slightly disappointing. But the reason I have given this place four stars is for their Lomo Saltado which is simply the best I've ever had. It is my go-to dish when I'm trying a new Peruvian place and I can't gush enough about Alpamayo's version. I commented to our very sweet server how much I enjoyed my dish and she seemed genuinely pleased and said she would pass the compliment on to the chef. I can't wait for out next trip to Williamstown just so that I can stop in Lee to enjoy the Lomo Saltado again. read more

I have only eaten here three times, but each time I was very happy with what I ordered. They have a seafood soup that is gorgeous served with rice on the side. It is enough for a meal. The amazing green sauce they serve with the roasted chicken is to die for. The salad was simple but good as were the fries, with the green sauce making both delicious. I have not ordered anything else except those two things (roasted chicken and seafood soup) because I cannot help but keep ordering them! Went to Alpamayo last night after reading some good reviews - very glad that we went to try it out! We ordered a pitcher of sangria and ceviche de pescado to start. The ceviche was fresh, delicious and tangy with a medium spice. For our entrees, I ordered pescado a lo macho, which was a lightly breaded fish topped with shrimp, calamari, mussels and a creamy sauce. It was served with a helping of rice and was a wonderful meal! My boyfriend order the lomo saltado with a side of plantains. The steak was tender and flavorful and the plantains were cooked perfectly. We definitely plan to return for dinner soon! read more

This used to be one of my favorite places. Yesterday I took my parents for the first time to try Peruvian cuisine. The service was great, however the food was awful - flavorless and greasy. We ordered paella, mussels, and bisteck encebollado. Paella was mostly rice and two shrimps, the meat was poor quality and overcooked. I've eaten in many Peruvian restaurants in NY and other places, this small restaurant compares quite favorably. I probably would have given it 4.5 stars if that was an option, since the selection of ceviche is small, but I'll bump it up to five just because they do manage to have fresh and tasty ceviche in a small Berkshire town. I had shrimp ceviche, my husband had rotisserie chicken and our kids had rice and beans and fried fish. Everything was well presented and delicious. A side order of fried plantains was literally the best ones I'd ever had. (And I order these anywhere I can.). We decided to go to Alpamayo and were disappointed in a few things.. Positive was the service was very good, prompt and accommodating. The margarita was excellent. We had two rice dishes that were eh - one was seafood paella which, for the price had very little seafood: 2 shrimp, 5 small muscles and one clam. I have never seen paella served this way with minimal seafood. The other rice dish with chicken had more rice than chicken. Don't think we will go back. read more

On a busy Saturday night on a holiday weekend there was a bit of a wait but staff was friendly and the food was great. The ceviche is a particular standout. My chicken dish was tasty but I was jealous of the steak that was being eaten at the next table over. I'm getting that the next time I go!
