The accountant chose the Refund by Check option for my tax refund without asking me. He told me he would try to change it and send me an update, but he never did. I called the IRS yesterday, and they told me they sent the check two weeks ago--I didn't receive it! Now I have to chase it, and I'm leaving for a year in less than a week. They did my Taxes, and charged reasonably, but were rude, dismissive, accusatory and filed my taxes late because they prioritized other customers. It was a week and a half full of stress of trying to get Yoram on the phone, or to reply to emails, which then ended with a few rude emails and phone calls. My favorite was when I was in the shower and did not answer the phone about the payment link that they sent, and so Yoram emailed me saying that if I don't pay they won't submit my report. I have always found paying taxes to be pain staking and anxiety provoking. So much is already taken out of my check, it's simply painful. I am glad that others have had a good experience but I unfortunately have not. I became Yoram's client in 2014 and have not had a satisfactory experience. He filed an incomplete return and I have been trying for 5 MONTHS to have these returns amended with no success. Each time I receive the amendment from him it is still incomplete even though I have supplied him with the correct information since day 1 and again since I received the audit. I am employed, single, don't own a home, no kids, no property, no businesses, etc. My taxes are very basic. I am not sure why I cannot receive the services I paid for. He even completed a tax year that I did not ask for instead of completing work that I did ask and pay for. Emails have gone unanswered and phone calls never returned. I also trusted Yoram to help with past tax issues and paid him for the work. After having my documents for over a year he mailed them back to me with no explanation or resolution besides a few vague sticky notes. When it comes to important matters such as taxes, his shortcomings and mistakes have a major negative impact on people's lives as my wages are now being garnished for taxes that I do not owe. I got a letter from the IRS 9 months ago. THey wanted to review my tax returns from 4 years ago. I was scared, felt vulnerable and I could not sleep at night. I was living in Los Angeles at the time and I had gone to H&R block to do my taxes for my business and personal taxes. Now the IRS says that mistakes were made. And they think I owe them $15,000 with all the interest and penalties. WTF? I don't have that kinda money. So I called all my Israeli friends because they know how to handle taxes and everyone told me Yoram is the man. I called Alphatax and Yoram was in a meeting. I told the receptionist that I needed to talk to someone on the phone right away. She put Jennifer on the phone and she was the kindest, sweetest most caring accountant I have ever talked to. She setup a plan to meet, review the tax forms from years ago and contact the IRS. Ok so jumping ahead a few months later, I'm at their office, the IRS gestapo agent shows up and they start reviewing what happened on my tax forms. He starts grilling me with questions and I'm scared. But then Yoram walks in the room and he and Jennifer tag team this IRS guy and start grilling him about that previous tax returns for a bunch of years that I paid. THey found mistakes that the IRS and HR Block made. He was starting to sweat and I started feeling really good. By the end of the meeting, they found out that I actually overpaid and they owed me $3000. Yoram immediately created ammended returns, handed them to me to sign, gave a copy to the IRS thug and sent him packing. I got a refund check from the IRS. I was shocked! I jumped up in the air when I got that letter. What a relief. From now on, I'm going to Alphatax to do my scorp and 1040 taxes. This year, I'm faxing him all my tax documents from New York and he is handling everything. read more

Short version: Hands down, no bs, so glad I found Alpha Tax. Yoram is the man. Long version: It's so difficult to find a good CPA that I've changed mine almost every year for the past few years. Being in a high tax bracket, I was absolutely screwed the last couple of years by my CPAs. I kept asking for advice on what I can deduct and all they ever said was "buy a house". I knew that couldn't be it. Thanks to Yelp, I contacted Alpha tax for my way overdue 2012 returns and me with Yoram. Yoram didn't just plug numbers into a machine and say I owed $10k like the others. He actually asked me relevant questions about my spending, etc. and it turns out I had a fair amount of eligible expenses to deduct that I would certainly have been overlooked by any of my former CPAs. Yoram is a straight shooter. He doesn't waste time with gibberish or beat around the bush, he just gets things done and saves everyone time.
