I can't say enough good things about Alpha Driving School. First off, everyone is really nice. Every single person who answered the phone, scheduled my lessons, and called to confirm every week was lovely - and I've been taking lessons every week since January, after never having driven a car in my life! I had most of my lessons with Vik. He's a great teacher, he'll keep you laughing but also won't let you get away with staying in your comfort zone. He gives practice tests as well, leading up to the real thing, which was very useful. I had a few lessons with Julio as well and he was great. Upbeat, relaxed, and will show you a lot of tricks that make driving so much easier. I passed my test today with only 10 points! I had to start from scratch, a couple years back. Yes, from scratch, five hour class and all. I paid for the road test and five hour class and usage of the car. I got tied up with work and life and didn't take the road test. A couple years later, which brings me to today, I went in to see about the previous package that I paid for, but was told the money was gone, since a year has elapsed. I'll pay a different school for the five hour certificate instead of giving them another dime. read more

By far one of the worst if not the worst schools I ever dealt with. We signed up for a package of 5 lessons along with an appointment and test. We had to wait very long time to get a driving test date because they only take you to Staten Island test location. Staten Island location is convenient for them because it is the closest and and the tolls is passed to the client. We failed the first test so we asked for a different location as Staten Island street are very difficult as it is. Once again they refused and convinced us once again that this time will be different and my wife will pass. so We had to pay for another package of 5 classes since the one class with the appointment is 205.00 which pretty close to the package of 5 classes. When we failed the second time, I determine to go to a different school and requested a refund only to receive partial refund as they refused to acknowledge any fault of their own as their insistence of Staten Island location. So this the story. Aside from the story, this took place over a month period where classes were delayed several times, instructors were not available several times. Time has no value at this school as not many driving instructors available. All in all, we have spent a month and $600 and we don't have a driver license. I don't recommend this school to my worst enemies. I gave one start because there is no lower than that. read more

I had a really hard time finding a decent driving school until my friend recommended Alpha, and so I wanna pay it forward by recommending this school to anyone looking for a driving school. It was a little out of my way, but totally worth it. I had two instructors, Vic and Maria. They were so warm and friendly and patient, also very encouraging. And the other staff is pretty professional as well. The cars are in great condition and easy to manage. They take you out to Staten Island for the road test because it's a really calm and easy going testing site compared to Brooklyn, I even had a great experience with the Staten Island examiners. 10/10 highly recommend! read more

I've been taking five classes with Vik with a driver's test appointment and I've really enjoyed all my lessons with him, especially the last few when we were preparing for the drivers test and we spent the last 15 minutes of each lesson doing practice tests, in which he would tell me what I did right and wrong and how I could correct it. Vik is super funny, always has candy and snacks in the car, and is always open to questions and gives good answers if you're confused about anything. I just took the test with him after my last lesson (you always do your test with a lesson that morning so you can practice), and passed with 0 mistakes (perfect score baby!!). This is after having taken the test 2x with DYD Driving School and failing both times with a terrible stoic instructor who would sometimes smoke in the car while giving you his lessons. I am 100% vouching for Alpha Driving school. My sister has also come here and has been with Ziad, who she also really likes. I came here a few months ago and thought this place was alright. Two days before my road test, I cancelled a double lesson. When I had called to see if I could squeeze in another road lesson before my test, the owner rudely says to me on the phone, "We are running a business here. Either you come for your road test or not. Thanks. Goodbye." Then hangs up. Excuse me? That's not even what I asked! Furthermore EVERY SINGLE TIME I came to do my road lessons with this school; the instructors NEVER failed to be over 10 to 15 minutes late. Each time they were late, I was hardly reimbursed for my time in full. I went to this place because of cheaper package prices, but the customer service does need some work. The driving instructors for what is worth do try to keep a conversation going. Anyways, I passed my driving test and that's what I wanted. read more

Having never driven a day in my life before and finding out we are moving to Florida in 5 weeks I knew I needed to learn to drive and fast! Alpha Driving School is AMAZING!!! Both my husband and I bought a package of 10 lessons each. I was petrified during my first lesson. Poor Ricky kept telling me to give him gas and I refused to go more than 15mph! He was so nice and so patient with me. Alpha has a few different instructors and I can honestly say I didn't have a single bad experience with any of them and they all have their own style of teaching. Ricky is absolutely wonderful! He will push far, far outside of your comfort zone but I needed that in order to learn. Plus, driving with him is a party so get ready to have fun. Both my husband and I had the most lessons with Vik and we are both so, so grateful to him. Vik really loves what he does and he's so good at it! He too will push you far outside your comfort zone and will give you sample road tests before your actual test. I couldn't have passed my test (and with only 10 points) without Vik! Henry is a ball of super calm energy which is so, so helpful with someone like me who's super nervous and scared about driving. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with Alpha. If one instructor isn't your cup of tea then you can ask for someone else. And it's good to have different experiences because you can learn different tips from each instructor. Someone mentioned in previous comments that the owner of the school is rude. I had driven some with my parents before and I came to Alpha to schedule an appointment for a road test and use their car. With this I had one lesson with Henry right before the road test. The lesson was outstanding and although my chances at success seemed slim at first, Henry got me through throwing in jokes from time to time to create a great atmosphere which led to my passing the road test on the first try. Henry was very helpful and does a great job of preparing you for what the DMV looks for in your driving test. Alpha Driving School was more than helpful, pleasant and had exactly what I needed with the $125 package (1 lesson, appointment and car for road test). I would definitely recommend this place. Great place to learn! They are your no frills, teach you right kind of place. I was not an experience driver when I purchased my 10 class pack, which included the test. I search around and their prices are affordable, which helped sealed my decision. Also, they were so warm and helpful. Girls at the front desk we sweet, efficient and very professional. I took the 5 hour class with Vic and it was a whole lot better than I thought it would be. Vic really focus on the people at the class and connected us to the material. I also was lucky enough to have Vic as my instructor. He is very laid back and likes to make things very comfortable. He will not make you do anything that you are not ready for. While I let my nerves get the better of me on the first try, I did pass on my second shot. And could not have been happier with the results. They say timing is everything and I completely agree. I have known the wonderful staff here at Alpha Driving School for many years as I once came here when I was sixteen to take my five hour and lessons. At that time I felt I didn't need to continue for silly reasons. Do I regret it? Of course, because driving today is much harder with everyone on a cell phone or being distracted somehow. I decided for the beginning of 2019 that I would start tackling my goals (resolutions) for the new year and this time..I will follow through!! I am excited and proud to announce that I as of June 7th 2019 am now a Licensed Driver thanks to Alpha Driving School!! The entire staff is amazing and they made me feel like family. I had three instructors during my time here., Vic, Nicole and Maria. Each one is amazing and I thank them for their patience. I started my lessons with Vic who is tough but very knowledgeable and provides honest feedback, and then I had Nicole who was super sweet and helpful with letting you know what you need to work on while still making you feel comfortable while driving. I highly recommend this school. Instructors Vic and Antonio/Toni are the best. They are very friendly, relaxed and very helpful. If you have never driven before, or have little experience or confidence parallel parking, ask for these drivers. The school has the best packages around, and they wont charge you standard prices for any additional lessons. They also pick you up and drop you off. You will get a lot of practice with driving, parking, and K-turns on small two way streets/hills/schools/parks etc... Before coming here I NEVER parallel parked, but with 8 lessons I was a pro. I passed my road test within 30 days of my first lesson!!! During the road test I saw quite a few people fail (from other schools or with family) by making careless mistakes. Sure you can drive with family and friends, but these instructors know exactly what the DMV is looking for. As for the 5 hour class, it went by very quickly. The teacher was funny and relaxed, which made it go by faster. You can bring something to snack on during the class, but be courteous. They allow a 20 min lunch break and a 15min break(if everyone agrees). read more

I took the subway and cabs everywhere and then recently, my husband and I bought a home in a suburban part of NYC. It was finally time for me to get my license and I'm so happy I came to this school. I just passed the road test today on my first try! Woo hoo! I took the 5 hour course here a few months ago and completed 5 lessons before taking the test. Great deals and learning experience! The instructors were very friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions and offered great tips! Passed the road test my first try! The secretaries were also super friendly and made sure to call me a day before my lessons/test to remind me! I wasn't aware of a restriction on my permit, they let me know as soon as they saw it and gave me instructions how to fix it! The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the facilities could use an update. Also there were delays a couple of times when the instructor had to pick me up from my house. read more

I am so glad that I found this school and decided to come here for lessons! Although I had some experience driving already because I took lessons at another school last year, I felt very unprepared so I decided to sign up for the 5 classes package (even though I added an extra two lessons later on). The receptionists were very nice and always helped me schedule my lessons. One great thing was that they would call me a day in advance to remind me that I will have a lesson the next day. Took the 5-hour pre-licensing course today. I was expecting a boring class with mostly videos but instead I had attended a lively interactive lecture. Mr. Vic presented himself with the utmost professionalism, is an excellent communicator and teacher, and educated us on various topics of driving including but not limited to laws, DUIs, distracted driving, safety, etc. he asked us questions individually and kept the class interactive, fun, and sprinkled in some humor as well. The videos we watched were an old school classic driving safety video and another one on distracted phone/texting while driving, extremely important in this day and age. I took my lessons this past summer hoping I could get my drivers license before the summer ended since I was moving. That did not happen because this place is quite busy. The front desk lady was nice and helpful but I made the mistake of not scheduling all my lessons together as that would have been smarter. As for my driving instructor, Maria, from what I can remember was very unprofessional. When I came into the office I waited 10-15 minutes for her to finish eating, and that's cool since she didn't have time to eat, but it would have been an inconvenience for anyone trying to leave straight after the lesson for any errands. During my lesson, she would talk to her family and half pay attention to my driving, I would be driving straight for long periods of time and would get little feedback on my turns. When she did give me feedback it was not helpful at all. On top of that my lessons would be once a week because they were so booked so I wasn't getting the most out of my driving experience. In the end I couldn't even finish up the road test part of my package because I had to move, the front desk lady didn't ever ask me if I wanted to schedule my road test when I was down to my last few lessons since I didn't know when you book the road test you won't get one at an early time. For my five hour class, I had Vic and he sorta made it bearable to sit through and was giving helpful tips. I took a lesson with him for my last lesson and he was alright, when I was parking he was little help because he "didn't want to mess up how I already learned" which is understandable I guess. Overall, this establishment didn't teach me how to drive well, took my money and I didn't even get a license out of it because they couldn't even schedule my road test. read more

The teacher was very comprehensive with his lesson. We repeated parallel parking and 3 point turns upto 6 times. He was sensitive enough to provide me with sufficient morale boost. I'm a real New Yorker, and as every New Yorker, the taxi had gave me the impression that driving in NY became terrifying. However, Alpha had provided me with a great staff and teachers who helped me divinely to pass the test. I had all the teachers provided to me and I must say every teacher was great.
