When I inquired as to why, they said that payment plans are subject to a 10% penalty for total amount of the 6 month policy less the 9 days of coverage. A simple heads up would have been a minimal courtesy. Instead of a simple apology or anything...they send me an email the in summary was: "We sent you a brochure thricely, you should have read it. Have a blessed day." Terry Morgan stated that they wished they could take the time to explain a policy to every policy holder and then took the time to condescend and gaslight me all the same. They said it was NC law that they could overcharge and charge this penalty. I have a string of emails. I guess I should have read the brochures that were printed "in black and white and it is YOUR responsibility to read and understand the policy." Yes the YOUR was in all caps. Absolutely unacceptable in every way. I will happily post the email for clarity.

we were so naive to stay with Farm Bureau for years. they overcharged us…read more they heavily overinsured us. they did not help when i was rear ended at a red light. at State Farm here in leland, nc kelly saved us hundreds of dollars. she lowered the amounts (like personal property) of insurance. and we feel they help us with any issues. i just wish we did this many years ago. the average person- like us- simply knows very little about insurance. companies like Farm Bureau take advantage of this and smooth talk you. we're much happier now. by the way, AAA demanded we buy expensive wind and hail which we don't want or need.

Believe it or not, SECU is the 2nd largest Credit Union in the U.S., that's in Assets and Memberships. They have less and lower fees than commercial banks. They really care about your financial wellbeing. They also have low lending rates. At the credit union lending decisions are made in-house by that loan officer at that branch, not by an underwriter that lives across the country like the big banks. It's not intimidating when you walk into the branch the people are very inviting and acknowledgeable. I know people that moved out of NC to another state and they still keep their SECU accounts open. They will still service you and your accounts, even though there branches operate only in NC. If you are eligible to become a member I would open an account immediately. You will not regret it.
