Today our roof replacement job has started. I decided to go with Alpha Roofing out of Round Rock. A couple of years ago I called them after a storm chaser came to my house and told me my roof needed to be replaced. They came out and were honest and showed up on time. Ultimately they said my roof didn't need to be replaced and they fixed a piece of bad flashing while they inspected at no cost. This spoke volumes to me and made me remember who they were and saved their card. They told me they'd be at my house this morning at 7am so I went and moved the cars around 6:45 and the crew was waiting for in their trucks to get started. If anyone needs a roof I'd strongly recommend this company. They are local, honest, reliable and show up early to start a job. The communication leading up to this point was also amazing. Our roof is about 15 years old and we haven't had it inspected in many years. So I called alpha roofing to get it checked out for its current status ahead of any storms coming in 2024 or future. Darryl came over, and briskly proceeded to walk thru the roof, took pictures, and even helped dislodge a frisbee that had gotten up there from my neighbor. He assessed the roof to be ok for now. Roof inspection was free of charge and I was informed about general replacement costs and insurance options in case of hail damage . One year later to the month, an issue was discovered with one of the solar tubes (skylight with tube to bring light into the house). We had the issue repaired. I called Alpha Roofing to explain the situation and that it could only have happened during the roofing job. The owner listened carefully to the situation, acknowledged that it must have occurred during the project, and re-imbursed us for the cost of the repair. Only a reputable company would own up to the issue. And beyond that, the owner said he would add this issue to their checklist to ensure it does not happen again. I needed a 3rd opinion after a door-to-door corporation told me my roof was destroyed from the recent hail storm, and my insurance adjuster said he couldn't find any damage at all. I'm no roofing expert, so I called Alpha. Michael arrived on time and was very friendly and understanding of the situation. I joined him on the roof this time and he was very thorough at explaining. Basically, there is some evidence of the hail, but no significant damage. He was open to the option of me continuing with my insurance claim if I really wanted a new roof (as some people do), but he was honest about letting me know that the current roof will be fine for another several years. Michael's honesty saved me $3800 from the deductible! And there was no charge for the inspection. A lot of roofing companies don't want to deal with repairs on a roof. They ALL want to replace the WHOLE roof. Most people can't afford to or want their insurance premium going up. After noticing a few shingles had blown off our roof, I nervously started to put feelers out for a roof repair quote. I heard back from Daryl at Alpha Roofing within probably an hour, and he scheduled time to come by 2 days later. After checking out the roof, Daryl determined it to be a very simple fix, went ahead and found the shingles that had blown off, retacked them down and sealed it on the spot. I couldn't believe a) it was done so quickly, without multiple scheduling back-and-forths, and b) he did not charge me a dime! He said it was such a simple fix, and he was in the area for another job anyway, so it was no sweat to just get it done. I am blown away! Beyond this, communication with Daryl felt like working with an old friend. tl;dr: would definitely call these guys again with any roofing issues. I had a very small job involving a roof vent that several roofers in the area didn't seem to want to bother with -- mainly they just hemmed and hawed and dithered in providing information about cost and time frame, giving the clear impression that the job wasn't worth their time. (Hey, probably it wasn't, but still not a good look to future customers.) But Darryl with Alpha Roofing called me back within 10 minutes and took my "insignificant" job seriously. He took the time to explain to me over the phone what he thought the issue was and explained exactly what he thought fixing it would entail, with a lot more explanation than any of 4-5 other highly rated roofing companies on Yelp had bothered to give. He scheduled a visit just two days later. We both thought he'd need to do a quick inspection and schedule a follow-up visit to get a small crew to do the work. But when he saw the issue, he went to the truck to get his roofing boots and just climbed up on the roof himself to fix my vent in less than 5 minutes. Moreover, he also did a quick look at all my other vents to see if they had issues, and reported they all looked good. And he charged me a song, refusing the full amount we'd agreed, on the grounds that the job hadn't been even as involved as he'd thought it would be. So a massive thanks to Darryl and to Alpha Roofing. It was a tiny job, but these guys certainly earned my business on the next big job I might have, over all those other "five-star" Austin roofers on Yelp that wouldn't take me seriously. read more

I took several bids. Michael Coffman came in last and was the lowest bid. We had an unusual problem claim wise and he negotiated us through the whole process. He actually saved us money. He has all his own in house workers, so no outside contractors. His trim carpenter had to remove two expensive "roll out" sky lights in our spa room. We put in permanent ones that don't roll out and were smaller. His trim carpenter did an excellent job of making the new smaller sky lights fit by sizing down the hole with matching wood they provided. It looks so good. We were very happy. It has been a year and the roof still is great. He just came out to inspect the roof after the ice storm and found no problems. He trimmed some limbs back for us and even cleaned our gutter. Pros: 1) did not charge a estimate fee 2) responded quickly and took the time to explain the repair in depth. 3) friendly and knowledgeable estimator was Insurance adjuster for a time . 4) texted me pictures of the repair of leaky problem area before and after. 5) made me aware of other roof areas that needed repair that he took care of at no additional charge. 6) invoices are done by email and you can pay online or mail a check in . 7) they warranty repairs for a year Cons: 1) they charge a processing fee of 3.5 percent if you pay with a credit card. 75 percent of people pay for repair by some type of card and not cash or check I gladly recommend them to you and they will do a fine job on your roof . More great service from the folks at Alpha. One of my skylights developed a leak in the last big rainstorm and since skylights were part of last year's repairs, I asked Alpha to send someone out. Ryan did the inspection, cleared out the accumulated oak tree detritus (which he said was interfering with the water diverters), and re-sealed all three skylights, not just the one with the leak. I called them late afternoon and they arrived the next morning to inspect my roof. It turned out I had a plumbing problem where water wasn't clearing properly from an upstairs patio drain. Even though it wasn't their issue, Darryl still did a complete roof inspection and found it in good shape. He sealed a few nails that might give us a problem in the future and was on his way. While I can't speak to their quality of work on an actual roof repair, I give them top scores for responsiveness and customer service.
