This provider only seems to exist to extract money from her customers. Regardless of what your issues are, she will prescribe you brand specific treatments with companies that she's partnered with regardless of whether or not those treatments work for your individual case. I was prescribed a topical corticosteroid *from a company that she partners with* for scalp issues that I was experiencing, and after a few days of feeling amazing, I fell into a myriad of horrible issues that are indicative of systemic corticosteroid use. When I brought this to her attention, she was as flippant and dismissive as a person could be, telling me it was not possible, and directly told me to my face that I am a crazy person. I've attached a picture of a malar rash that appeared a week into that steroid use and has progressively gotten worse since. This is only one of many symptoms that I developed through the use of that topical corticosteroid that had a molecular weight significantly less than what is capable of being absorbed transdermally into the bloodstream. And listen, I don't even mind that things went awry, because I went along with the treatment. I wanted to try something to help my seborrheic dermatitis, and I was ready to suffer any side effects of the medication. My contention comes from the fact that the dermatologist denied that the corticosteroid was the cause of my litany of side effects, and it also comes from the fact that her prescriptions are influenced by her pharmaceutical partnerships. I went in for the removal of a very painful mole. While in the office, I also brought up a few other derm issues I was having. But stressed the point that the mole was the most important to take care of today. I got brushed off on that and they focused on another issue. Told me that they couldn't address the mole due to insurance. I called my insurance as soon as I got out to figure out what was going on. They said there was no restrictions/ wait periods/ requirement of previous treatments and that the doctor could have removed that same day, fully covered. So why wouldn't they? Because they want me to come back multiple times so they can keep billing insurance. Needless to say, I will NEVER be back there. Found another derm who was happy to take care of all of my concerns in one visit. Guess which office has a return client?! read more

Avoid this office. Went in for a specific item to be addressed. (removed a growth, yikes) 1 visit, paid cash. Now they have added additional 'office/outpatient visit' charge which I was not informed about and have no recourse to settle. Hidden fees, be weary. One time customer only for sure which is a pity. I've been seeing Dr. Martin-Wimmer for years. She helped me with acne and got it under control when I was younger, and removed a precancer from my back in a single appointment. Always pleasant and actually takes the time to explain treatment options. Unlike many doctors appointments, I don't feel rushed or disregarded. I had a mole that has been changing out scaring me. I called Alpine about an appointment next week and they were able to get me in the next day! Dr. Darnell was absolutely amazing and made me feel so safe. I have a history of skin cancer in my family so ANYTHING with my skin scares the crap out of me. Went in because I had a growth on my chin, explained that I had some dental work done and a cleaning that morning. I was in a lot of pain and was referred to this dermatologist waited almost an hour to be told she couldn't help me and that I needed to see an Oral/Facial surgeon after she spoke with my dentist luckily I was able to get into said oral/facial surgery place as an emergency case to get the growth removed how ever the facial/oral surgeon said that the dermatologist I saw could've easily removed the growth. Do not recommend. Save your self some time and if you have a facial growth go to a facial surgeon right away don't bother with this dermatologist. read more

Dr. Darnell is really knowledgeable and takes the time to listen to patients' thoughts and concerns, while addressing every point you have one by one. She and her staff truly care about you, and they'll make sure to answer all questions you may have. The wait times can be a little long, waiting about 30 minutes past your appointment time. This was the worst medical experience I've ever had. I waited 45 minutes to see the doctor, and despite having all my paperwork in order, the nurse came in 3 times with forms unrelated to my issue, asking me to fill them out and then saying I wouldn't need them. I called ahead (several days prior to my appointment) to ask what I would be charged, and was then billed 50% more than what I was told over the phone. My prescriptions and care plan were so poorly explained to me that I've had to call the office twice to ask about it, and never gotten a call back. I was chewed out by the receptionist though for asking to speak with the nurse: she has been short and impatient with me each time we've interacted. Cannot say this strongly enough: go ANYWHERE else. Based on the horrific experience I had at this practice, I would not recommend Alpine Dermatology or Dr. Martin-Wimmer to ANYONE I began seeing Dr. Martin-Wimmer for hand dermatitis in June. The Dr. dismissed my ideas and observations, and continually reiterated that I was not following her instructions which I have followed for 6 months without fail. My hands have itched continually since I began seeing Dr. Wimmer, and the dermatitis and rash has continued to spread. I have just left another dermatology office, where I learned that the amount of steroid ointment that was being prescribed to me for one month at Alpine Dermatology was actually only enough for 7 days. This is unacceptable to me. I would like to say that my experience with Audra the office manager was the only pleasant experience I had with this office, and I hope that she continues to be a bright light in what I found to be an otherwise dark, dismal, disappointing excuse for a practice. Horrible customer service! Aside from waiting 45 minutes for the doctor to enter the exam room, a billing issue was poorly handled. I was not informed of any out of pocket expense prior to doing a 'zap', a 5 second 'spot test' as the doctor called it, and ultimately charged a ridiculous amount AFTER the fact. The front desk then proceeded to hand me a waiver to sign, stating I understood that it was not covered by insurance. HELLO, you provide that to the patient BEFORE the procedure, not AFTER. I would have declined the 'zap', as it was an outrageous fee! What a con! The office manager (who showed minimal interest in getting back with me) admitted the situation was not handled properly, but refused to reverse the charge, rectify or take responsibility (she claimed the doctor thought it was fair). I went to see doctor wimmer after suffering from a rash I had for 2 months. She didn't listen to me , suggesting that it maybe my dog. The problem with this theory is my rash started a month before I got the dog. She prescribed a steroid cream. Used the cream and after 4 days my rash worsened. I called the office told them what was happening and was totally ignored. Won't be going back. I guess you have to be a champion skier to get a call back. read more

Do NOT go here! The doctor MIS-diagnosed me, gave me cream that made my entire face break out. I rushed back to the doctor TWO DAYS LATER and the doctor refused to even come out and look at my face until I PAID FOR ANOTHER VISIT !!! I refused to pay for another visit, since the doctor had caused me harm and should come out and fix the situation, and she would not!!!!!! I left and went to the urgent care clinic, where I had to pay $75, but they immediately knew how to calm down my skin and they took care of me. They diagnosed my condition corectly and tried to treat it all in the first vist. However, they didn't get all the cancer in the first biopsy. So, they called me back saying that they would be able to conduct 2 out of 3 of the possible follow-up procedures in their office; the other procedure could be done at another close-by clinic. I went in anticipating getting it taken care of immediately but they instead charged me $70 and said you will need to go to the other clinic instead. I felt as though they wasted my time and found a way to charge me even though they could not provide any value. I will not be going back. read more

I have been a patient here for several years. I really appreciate the way they deal with me. Dr. Martin-Wimmer is so kind and competent. She took care of a squamous carcinoma and has seen several other problems that she took care of to avoid more cancer. She checks me every 6 months to make sure I avoid more problems. I was scheduled for a 9:15 appointment for a neck & face rash , but arrived half an hour early to ensure I had time to complete my paper work. I was taken to an exam room well after 9:30 where I waited until a student intern came in to ask some questions. When she was done asking questions, she told me to change into a gown (weird for a neck rash) and when I questioned this she said that the doctor would want to do a full body screening. I declined the full body screening as they were already 40 minutes behind schedule and I hadn't budgeted for it. Once the student intern left, I waited another half hour with people coming in & out of the room to grab supplies, but nobody bothered to update me as to how much longer I would have to wait. When I finally asked someone, they told me the doctor was with another patient and it shouldn't be much longer. At this point it was over an hour past my scheduled appointment. I told them I needed to leave so I could get to work and they sent in the office manager. She apologized, but had no idea how much longer the doctor would be. I left without seeing the doctor and declined to reschedule. Two most important takeaway's...They can't keep a schedule and they will try to get you to pay for unwanted services. When I first called, I asked if Dr. Darnel saw children at all. They told me yes. There was a 2 month wait for CU Pediatric Dermatology and we just couldn't wait that long. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Nurses are fine and caring as well. All three visits we arrived on time and waited in the waiting room and then again in the patient room (30 min) - way too long! At our 3rd visit today, which the Dr. requested I come in asap after prescribing a cream that we used for a week that made my daughter's face even worse and we were told to stop over the phone last week, I was charged to be seen to see what was going on. When she saw us she said that everything looked fine and that my daughter's face was looking better! I showed her a picture and disagreed. I expressed my concerns and I asked for other options that were not steroidal medicines and if there was anything natural to try. Her response was to get un-petroleum jelly and to go get a 2nd opinion from CU Pediatric. She blamed me for being upset with this treatment saying I was not supporting my daughter's healing. Then she walked out of the room. Rude and unprofessional. So I did make an appt. with CU Pediatric. I will always be an advocate for my daughter and her health and well-being! read more

I am SO thankful for having Dr. Wimmer as my dermatologist. She has diagnosed more than one problem I have had in a VERY caring, compassionate way. She has done well solving my problems. I went to have a cyst looked at or removed and the "Doctor" told me to get a $1000 MRI and come back in 3 months, then sent me out the door with a $50 prescription that made my face break out as well. She then set up an appointment 3 months out. I cancelled the appointment after I had the cyst removed a month later without a MRI in a 30 minute procedure. 2 months later I started receiving a bill for $99.00 for a no show, they will not admit there mistake nor will they remove the $99.00 fee. Terrible experience! I can not say how disappointed and ripped off I feel about my experience with Alpine Dermatology. My first Appt I sat and waited for over an hour before seeing the doctor. No one ever apologized for the inconvenience. I understand that it is hard to keep a schedule and doctors are notorious for running behind but over an Hour!!!! After having one mole removed, grand total of about 20 minutes of actual doctors time, I was charged $440.00. I paid it myself not having health insurance, which by the way many doctors actually give a discount for being self pay, and scheduled my "follow up" appt. I went to the "follow up" appt today and sat this time for 35 minutes before the doctor came. She put some ointment and a band-aid on my wound and we said our good byes, again not having apologized for the inconvenience of my long wait. I was then told I was being charged $67.00!! I couldn't believe it; they charge for follow up appts and never even told me there would be a charge. If I had known I wouldn't even have gone. I explained this to the so called office manager who told me there was nothing she could do but she understood. Yeah right way to show it! So if you have nothing but time and are interested in supporting a total rip off insurance scam doctor than by all means this is the one for you!!!!
