I knew something was going on near my upper left molars, but I couldn't pinpoint which tooth it was. I went to my dentist, who took x-rays and told me he was pretty sure it was a particular molar, suggested I needed a root canal, and referred me to Dr. Pratt at Prescott Endodontic Associates. They were able to get me an appointment the next day. I arrived for my midday appointment. Dr. Pratt did extensive testing to ensure that we pinpointed the correct tooth, then told me he could do the root canal immediately. What? RIGHT NOW? It doesn't take two or three visits? I was astonished. To be fair, I was "in the chair" for a solid three hours. But Dr. Pratt and his able assistant, Jess, made sure I was 100% comfortable and kept me pain free the entire time. I was also impressed with the high-tech equipment they used, including Dr. Pratt using a microscope to locate my hard-to-find roots and Jess taking in-progress X-rays that instantly appeared on the monitor before me. I already had a crown on that tooth. I was afraid I might have to get a new one. But Dr. Pratt drilled a hole through the crown to get to the root(s) and remove them, then filled the hole. I had no idea that was even a possibility. Dentistry has come a long, long way from my childhood in the early 60s! My tooth was a bit sensitive for a couple of weeks afterward, but that was to be expected. I had no post-trauma infection pop up, which was my biggest concern. The icing on the cake was when a check arrived in the mail a few weeks later as a result of my insurance having covered more than had been estimated - a nice bonus! 10/10 would recommend every member of Dr. Pratt's team - from the front office staff to the accounting staff to his assistant Jess - to anyone needing endodontic care. I would go back to her, I just hope I never have to!

For the past 6 days, I have been dealing with one of the worst pain episodes in my life. One of my upper left tooth started to give me immense trouble while I was flying to Austin (I did go to an ER in Austin for a temporary solution) and being that it was Memorial Day weekend (translates to FML), I had to wait 5 days pumped full of pain meds and antibiotics before I finally got a diagnosis and some treatment. I did manage to go to another dentist in town, but that wasn't very helpful. I actually then called Dr. Crane's office and they suggested I visited Dr. Leiendecker's office. I called her office yesterday morning and they were able to get me in today. The office sent me an email to fill out forms beforehand (easy process) and today when I came for the appointment, I just had to sign a few forms. Dr. Leiendecker (and her assistant) were great with me! She explained everything to me and told me also that she didn't think a root canal was actually necessary and wanted to make sure I was doing the best thing for my teeth and also didn't want me to spend so much money. Wow, I was really so shocked how caring she was with me. Its been a long time since I met a doctor like her. I highly recommend her if you need an endodontist. I wish I could make her my general dentist because she gives such good care. I'm so grateful that she helped me today, made the pain go away and made sure my tooth would be ok. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. It was obvious from my first meeting with Dr. Walker that he is very knowledgeable, explains the procedures thoroughly and why he determines they are necessary. He also does a CT scan before the procedure so he can see exactly what's going on with the affected area, preventing a lot of unnecessary probing during the actual procedure. He even found cavities in the crown area that were not visible with x-ray. With regard to the root canal procedure itself, seriously, I've had more pain and discomfort from a dental cleaning than I had with those two root canals. Painless. The numbing procedure was done exactly where the work was going to be done so I didn't go home with "rubber jaw" I was given an itemized invoice of exact costs at the first exam. It was more than reasonable when compared to current area costs. There is also a finance plan available. An added plus - the assistants and office staff are efficient and welcoming. It appears to me that they like being there which isn't always the case in dental and medical offices.
