It took Apline over a month to tell me that they wouldn't do my job. I contacted alpine for mini split system installation and several calls and several weeks later, they sent someone to look at the job, a very simple installation of one outdoor unit with two interior air handlers. Easy. After two more weeks wasted and no estimate I finally called again , they tell me that they 'don't have the bandwidth' to do the job. Thanks for wasting weeks of my time. And that miserable SOB that answers the phone is in the wrong job. This guy should not be dealing with customers. He has a terrible attitude. It would have been great if you called me or the office to report the findings, instead of trying to further disparage us on Yelp. It's too bad you didn't give us a 5 star review on Yelp back in April we came to your home (just 7 days after your very negative reviews) to fix your air conditioner within 12 hours." Let's address each of these points: "I am glad you seemed to have solved your problem." I had explained how to solve my problem (clear the pilot burner orifice) when I placed the very first request for service on my furnace. Where is my apology for the multiple false representations that were made and the abusive way I was treated during the interaction I described? Where's my refund for the worthless service call? My repair proves that I was 100% correct in all respects, and Alpine was 100% wrong. This can no longer be debated. "It would have been great if you called me or the office to report the findings, instead of trying to further disparage us on Yelp." My update was for the readers of my previous posts on Yelp so that they would have vital additional facts that proved my earlier representations were correct and Alpine's were not. Given the abusive manner in which I was addressed by the service manager in my last phone call with Alpine about this problem (after which I was hung up on), is it any surprise that I was not eager to call and further discuss this same issue? "It's too bad you didn't give us a 5 star review on Yelp back in April [when] we came to your home (just 7 days after your very negative reviews) to fix your air conditioner within 12 hours." This statement is both false and omits crucial information. I was forced to call Alpine for a warranty repair because the new air conditioner you had installed had failed, and furthermore, you did not fix it within 12 hours; that's simply false, as a check of your records will show. Why would you expect me to leave a five-star review for a required warranty repair that took multiple visits to fix a defective air conditioner you sold and installed? The bottom line is that I had had a long and positive relationship with Alpine until they destroyed it with an absolutely abominable handling of an extremely simple service call and its follow-up (and, I repeat, Robin has always been polite and has attempted to be helpful). Alpine has still not apologized and acknowledged its grievous mistakes and misrepresentations, which are now indisputable, and I'm very disappointed in the owner for allowing this situation to get to this point when the path for making this right was clear -- and now is even clearer. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED with ALPINE REFRIGERATION CO On a Wednesday in August a unit at my rental property experienced a central AC failure. The unit stopped working. I called Alpine Refrigeration and was told the blower motor needed replacing. I accepted the estimate. The AC motor was replaced at a cost of over $500 and the unit started working again. Within 48 hours, the unit froze up with ice built up on the pipe and inside the unit. SEE PHOTOS BELOW. I had a different repairman come to inspect the unit. This new repairman checked the refrigerant level and THE REFRIGERANT WAS LOW... a common cause of such freeze ups. He said the refrigerant level was obviously NOT checked by the Alpine repairman... and further stated the blower motor was possibly not the original problem and may have been replaced unnecessarily or that melting ice from a prior freeze may have entered the motor and damaged it. This repairman stated refrigerant levels should always be one of the first things checked on any AC service call. I contacted Alpine by email and discussed the problem and requested a partial refund of the bill, specifically a refund of the labor portion of the bill. They did not agree to that resolution and disagreed that the refrigerant should have been checked. Via email Alpine stated: "...the complaint was no AC. His original diagnosis was the blower motor and run capacitor. Once replaced, the unit was operating normally. There was never a complaint of freezing or warm air, which indicate a refrigerant leak..." I responded by email: "The refrigerant level was NOT checked by your technician.... There is no excuse for not checking the refrigerant level. In a follow up email the Alpine representative stated : "A motor failure is not magic and is a very clear item; bad bearings or winding problems are self-evident. Troy confirmed that the unit was up and ruining as soon as he made the repairs and all indications were that the system was working properly. The proper lines were cold and the system was cooling." I responded: "... checking the refrigerant is 'AC Repair 101.' Your repairman should have checked it. He failed to do so." THE BOTTOM LINE: It is stunning that Alpine would NOT admit that they should have checked the refrigerant level. Once Alpine's representative suggested that checking the refrigerant was not called for in this situation...I ended the communication as further discussion would have been pointless. read more

I cant begin to express my disappointment. We used Alpine several years ago to install a new AC unit in our house. At that time they were very responsive. We've since moved to a new house and have been having inadequate cooling issues with one of our AC units. They were quick to send someone out to diagnose the problem in early July, recommending a baffle be installed to better channel the cooling to the upstairs Primary bedroom. I was promised an estimate in a few days. no estimate a week later. We contacted again - again no estimate and no date. Third time wasn't the charm. I guess the job was too small and not worth their time. They should have said as much. My husband has heart failure and cannot sleep in an 87 degree bedroom So he's spent half the summer in the downstairs guest room. Shame on this company. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. It's now September. We might as well just wait until next year at this point. By the time we get someone out here again and then get the job scheduled, it will be Fall. read more

Positive AC Service experience to share... I'll make this short... last year, after competitive comparisons, I had Alpine Refrigeration replace my upstairs unit. I was very happy with the service and fair price. Last week I got a new WiFi enabled downstairs thermostat... installed it myself, couldn't get power to it. AC is too important, so I called up Alpine...they were just here... within minutes of them being here, they got the new thermostat running, then gave me an AC health check and charged me the basic service call charge. My issue with Alpine isn't the service it's the woman who answers the phone to make appointments. I have dealt with this company a few times in the past and I always get the technician Brian who is phenomenal, trustworthy and professional. I recently called to get an appointment to have my AC repaired and the person answering the phone was RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I told her that I wanted the appointment with Brian and she refused to give me an appointment with him and wanted to give me who she wanted me to have. I explained that I have dealt with Brian before and as a single woman I feel safe with him coming into my home doing repairs and I never feel that he's trying to rip me off in addition he does excellent work. She again refused my request for Brian and I told her if I couldn't get him I wouldn't make the appointment and she said fine...so this woman preferred that the company lost a potential customer rather than schedule the appointment with the customer's preference. Wow Alpine you have yourself a winner receptionist... if Brian ever opens his own business he'll get all my business and that of everyone I know but until then if that woman is still there Alpine will never see me again!!!! read more

My company has worked with Art and Brian at Alpine for several years. Let's face it, 99% of the time, when you need an HVAC guy, it is because there is a problem. And we have had our share of them! Heat doesn't work, AC isn't blowing cold air... Anything we are faced with, we just want it fixed ASAP! Brian (technician) is always prompt and punctual. He is very thorough in his research and assessment of the issue we are dealing with. Most recently, I had an issue at my house with our AC. The tech that came out, Jay, was fantastic. We have used Alpine several times over the past few years for AC issues, and they are always prompt, courteous and reasonable with pricing. Our most recent experience was on Saturday, when it was 96 degrees and expected to hit 100 on Sunday. Of course, that is when the AC goes out. We called Saturday night about 8pm, received a call back early Sunday, and by Sunday afternoon they had not only come to analyze the problem, but fixed it on the spot, all for a very reasonable cost. I think this is too good not to share basic information like this. My water heater broke and turns out I needed a chimney liner, gas valves and two other additives according to the sub-contractors that work for my energy provider in NJ (I use the big one). This brought my bill to a whopping $3258. Luckily I went to work the Monday and complained to a fellow coworker about the situation. A former Alpine customer overheard me and told me to call the company he used a couple months ago Alpine Refrigeration. I spoke to the owner and got an estimate for $1435. Please note that the PSEG sub-contractors was going to charge me $1700 just to install the liner. Of course I immediately cancelled the energy provider and accepted these guys offer to do the install immediately to prevent any further damage to my basement area. They did the install, including adding two gas valves, added a connector to some PVC piping that is around my heater (this allows the pipe to be removed easily for inspection and changing the heater in the future), all that no extra charge. I saved almost $1726 going with this company over the other one, that is an incredible savings. FYI, the same installers as the energy provider work for our favorite home improvement giant and their price would only be about $100 cheaper off the price of the heater. Alpine also takes care of the permits, I have to pay those fees separate like the others. I get a better warrantee on the labor than the energy provide 2yrs compared to 1 yr. I did call other companies and got really high quotes just to replace my liner. I feel so lucky to have been told about Alpine. they did such a great Job too, Clean up was good, the two guys that came were incredibly pleasant. I have absolutely nothing to complain about. I would recommend this company this company at the drop of a hat. If they perform the service, contact them. read more

Our AC broke on a Sunday night during a heat wave. Less than 24 hours later it was fixed and serviced. They are prompt, professional and very skilled and knowledgeable. The office staff is polite and responsive. Turned out the unit, which they had installed 12 years ago, needed some parts and refrigerant, which had leaked.
