But here, there's no hype, just honest-to-goodness amazingness. First of all, there is the utterly unique factor. This house was once in Kansas. Kansas! How did it get here, in the Colorado ski center of Steamboat Springs? That's a good story. And then there are the owners. From Melbourne. In Australia. How are they connected to a Kansas Victorian in Colorado ski country? That's a good story, too. And the amenities. Billiards, anyone? Eggs benedict and granola and house-made apple jelly on freshly baked bread? Sunrises and sunsets worthy of Ansel Adams? The world's coolest third-story game room? Complimentary sunscreen and lip balm in addition to the usual hair and body products? An amazing fireplace, an antique piano, stained glass windows, spiral staircases, a hot tub, heated sidewalks (when it snows ...), an outdoor patio, rooms upon rooms filled with special things, comfy beds and drop-dead gorgeous bathrooms (yes, it's true), and very nice people, too? Oh, it's also in Steamboat Springs. A cool part of Colorado, and not all that Aspeny at all. Sure, it's a ski mecca. But it's got a great Victorian B&B hidden amidst all those cookie-cutter condos and timeshares, too. If this doesn't deserve to be called luxury, then nothing does.

Every morning they make you a home cooked breakfast and freshly brewed coffee and when you return after a long day out skiing or hiking they leave out wine & snacks for you to enjoy. They have an outdoor spa, pool table and cinema room. This is my home away from home.

There was free parking available, and could have driven anywhere in the area within a couple of minutes including the resort. It was also steps away from a free bus route that took you right to the ski base area. It was way less walking to use the bus from this hotel to get to the gondola, than it would have been from a parking lot. And took the same amount of time with no parking cost. There was also a joint ski storage room here which was very convenient. Outside of that, some of the other reviews hold true - it was definitely a slightly dated hotel. The rooms are small but not that small, and it wasn't a big deal. But the bathrooms and shower were definitely tight, and a little makeshift with the shower curtains. The walls were thin and I could hear anything going on in the hallway or neighbors rooms. Used radiator heating, and was woken up by popping from this outside of my room on both nights. The hot tub was nice but also wasn't very hot with no way to adjust, and there were a few flies, and the TV in that common area wasn't connected. Overall it was a fine place to stay. It is an old hotel and one of those places that if you just need a place to stay while enjoying the mountains is fine, but if you look too closely at some of the fine details will probably find more and more that isn't perfect. I would stay here again no problem. I would just wish it was either $100 less, or a little bit more updated for the price.

The bed was comfortable and they gave you plenty of pillows. The walls were pretty thin, so you could hear people walking around in the hall. Overall, though it was exactly what I expected for the price point and I would come again. Though only annoying thing was that parking was packed at night was packed! We drove all around, and even on the side of the road was full, so we ended up parking in the dirt field nearby.

We stayed at the Steamboat Hotel given its great location and affordable price. This hotel has some great amenities. Tea and coffee are offered in the small lobby area, it has a well-maintained pool and hot tub, it has a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator in the room, and it's located really close to town. Most importantly for this trip, I needed to get a good night sleep before my race. Luckily, the beds were really comfortable and the room was quiet. There was also an AC unit in the room that I could fully control, so I didn't wake up to it cycling on and off. These are all thumbs up in by book. I'd recommend the Steamboat Hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay while visiting the best town in Colorado!

Our bedsheets were not cleaned between guests, we had genital hair scattered between the bedsheet and top sheet. I don't expect top tier service when I stay here, but I do expect at the bare minimum clean sheets and a working shower.
