Stayed here for the Steamboat Marathon because of location. But just a heads-up, the "continental breakfast" is pretty minimal, don't expect much more than coffee and a few basic items. Exactly what I'd hoped for. My sister and I stayed here as part of a girl's get away weekend. Steamboat Springs was a perfect overnight after our flights from the east coast into Denver, then the drive into the Rockies. Rabbit Ears Motel really is just across the road from the Hot Springs. After we'd wandered town and had a bit of dinner, the front desk folks were able to set us up with information, towels, and reduced price tickets to the Springs. We were staying in a river front room which offered a variety of beds. A bit too cold to spend much time on the balcony, but there was a wonderful view of the stars and the sound of the river. Stayed here for three nights and 4 days. Everyone up front in the office was amazingly friendly and always ready to help with anything . Room was great and clean. The biggest difference that made me love going back to our room was the key weird enough. Almost every hotel you have to hold it and hope it will work but it worked every time and took less than a second to unlock. It's the small things you notice that make the trip easier. read more

Great location next to river walk. Our room had patio which butted up to fast flowing river. Can't say enough about friendly staff. We got to park car outside in front of room on first level which helped making unloading and loading luggage unlike newer larger bog box hotels. We are coming back. read more

Room was clean and affordable, and we slept under cozy blankets with the sound of the Yampa River rushing outside our balcony. Location was great; we walked to dinner downtown both nights, to the rodeo, and to the hot springs. Downsides: room was pretty tight and both beds and the couch thing were too soft for comfort (you'll sink in about a foot). Breakfast was pretty weak (toast and bagels, boiled eggs, cereal), and coffee was weaker still. Fortunately not too far a walk to Big Iron downtown. Kids loved it, and dog-friendly. read more

The staff here is so friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a room with 2 queens and slept beautifully! The shower is updated and the water pressure was perfect. I did pick this place for location and the rooms that had a patio facing the Yampa river. 5 minute walk to Old Town Hot Springs (don't forget to save some $$ and ask the front desk for their voucher), right on the main street, walking distance to practically any place you wanted to go on main. Check-in was easy, continental breakfast was decent given covid times and staff was friendly. Almost 5 stars, like 4.5. I made it 4 because the room wasn't as clean as I would have liked (Lightly dirty comforter with sand/dirt, someone's old washcloth in the bathroom). read more

During check in, the front desk person was incredibly friendly & gave us a FREE UPGRADE for booking direct! This is a Motel everyone passes on the way to the village to their resorts and predictably, some say , I should stay there sometime, it looks so cool and "classic" Well, after checking out of our resort and attempting to fly GA out of Bob Adams field, much to our dismay, the weather refused us . It just wasn't safe to fly. Guess what? We had the opportunity to stay at the fabulous Rabbit Ears Motel! This Motel is exactly what you would presume it to be, a MOTEL!! I'm about to give this hotel a fantastic rating for cleanliness , great updated , albeit no frills , but balconies and a FANTASTIC view of the rushing river . Definately ask for a river view . The Rabbit Ears is near and dear to my heart. It's not a very glamorous motel but I've stayed here several times and it's clean and in a great location. I love that they allow dogs. I stayed here in mid-September in 2023. the rooms are fine, but it is clear the staff focuses on operational efficiency over customer experience. also while waiting to check in I noted a variety of price differences being shared by other guests so I think booking direct is not wise. you can do better with Expedia or other online services, but if you read on you will likely see i recommend you look elsewhere. My reason for such a poor review is on my checkout day the staff entered my room without permission on multiple occasions before 9am! checkout is 11am so no reason for them to come in that early. the 1st time I was half-naked in bathroom. I did not have security latch enabled because I was in/out of my room that morning moving some of my belonging to my RV. about 8:30 am, While in the bathroom there was a knock on the door. I yelled "hello. room occupied" but they did not wait for my verbal reply, the cleaning staff just entered the room and then laughed when they saw me half naked. I yelled get out and they left. When I stepped outside I saw the cleaning person but she did not apologized or acknowledged her misstep. 15 minutes later I am back outside at my camper and when I return the same cleaning person was back in my room. she said she thought I left even though clearly on the main counter top I was charging about 6 different electronics including my laptop, Bluetooth speaker, iWatch, iPhone and tooth brush. when I pointed to those items she just simply said I thought you left those items behind. like I would leave nearly $5K of electronics behind. I then confronted her about the repeated episodes of unauthorized entry. she deflected all blame to the front office. when I asked her is the front office was responsible for not listening to my calling out "room occupied...", she just rolled her eyes. I told her she needs to slow down and listen before entering paid-for rooms, she did not care and only got animated when I confronted her laughing at at half-naked guest bt falsely denying that part of events. I told her to get out and not return till 11 am or until I return my keys to front office. I then called the front office, actually expecting them to be responsive to this violation of privacy. they could not have cared less. I got a half-a**ed apology and no assurance that they would speak with the staff and seek to improve I am completely dissatisfied with their response to this terrible experience and will never stay at this location again. there are other options nearby and would recommend you consider alternatives read more

The Rabbit Ears Motel came highly recommended to us by a friend. Our family absolutely loved it there and cannot wait to go back. The front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room was dog friendly and clean. The mattresses and pillows were so soft and cozy. Our room looked out over the river and it was a short walk down for a swim. The location is perfect and you can easily walk to stores and restaurants. We are already planning our next trip back and have no interest in staying anywhere else. Worth every penny! read more

I am going to try to keep this as short as possible but I literally have 1,000,001 positive things to say about this hotel. Is it the Ritz? No. Do they have the most outstanding customer service and people at their front desk? Hell to the yes they do!!! After a horrible experience at another hotel in town and ultimately having my reservation canceled after speaking with a manager at this other hotel my family and I came over to rabbit ears. Lindsey at the front desk was an absolute angel so kind so compassionate and gave us a beautiful room overlooking the river. The process was so smooth and she was so kind I seriously can't say enough good things about her. On her second night that we stayed there Derek at the front desk who we had never met before was beyond courteous and kind. It really doesn't matter who you catch at the front desk this hotel does an excellent job at staffing the right kind of compassionate people. And the views are undeniable! The bus stop to the resort is right in front of the lobby (6-7min to the mountain resort. The staff is super friendly, Beth and Cherish are sooo nice. We got in town last night and after looking at some reviews, settled on this place to spend the night. Luckily it is right next to the river access park where we like to go swimming. A nice guy at the reception personally escorted us to view the room where we would stay and we liked it immediately. The room was immaculately pristine and it even had a comfy two piece sectional couch on which to lounge. (Hint, it is room 209). The rate was reasonable and the stay was very cozy. This motel is iconic and we've passed by it many times but never stayed, always staying in a condo on the mountain. However we ended up staying here when our flight was cancelled and the condo we were staying in was already booked. It is not the Ritz but the room was clean with renovated bathrooms and a beautiful view from the balcony of the yampa river. It's in downtown so you can explore all the shops and restaurants without having to catch a resort shuttle. We even made it to the old town springs. For the convenience and cost savings, It's definitely worth staying here and shuttling back to the mountain for skiing. read more

Breakfast was free and plentiful, waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels , etc. showers were hot, beds were decent, good for the price. Not recommended. The guestrooms are very close to the main highway through town, and traffic noise is an issue. Except of course, when the train comes by. At night, traffic noise abates, But with wafer thin walls in the guestrooms you hear your neighbor's telephone conversations, TV, and every noise they make. Of course, you can turn on the air conditioner which effectively drowns out everything. Difficult to get a good nights sleep. Because of this I checked out one day early, having prepaid two nights via Expedia. I asked for a refund for the one night, and was told they couldn't do it because "Expedia has your money, we don't." Yeah, right. Try somewhere else. read more

The man child Derek at the front desk has a VERY bad attitude. I can ignore most peoples snarkiness but he was waaaay over the top rude and aggressive. I simply asked about cancelling my reservation when I arrived and the tone and words out of his mouth were full of attitude and immaturity. The young lady who helped me check in was very nice and as she was getting my keys programmed I was casually tapping my nails on the counter as this calms me down when people are confrontational and he says "Oh are we not going fast enough for you". Wow just wow. This guy was so just looking for a fight...maybe he is miserable at home. Me tapping my nail had nothing to do with him. I have never had someone treat me so badly over a question and comment about cancelling last minute. He needs a lesson in customer service and professionalism. I asked him if he was this rude to everyone or just me and he ignored me. The lady at the front kept apologizing for him and said he had a lot of cancellations so I guess that was why he was acting a fool. Not okay Derek...do better. this pet - friendly motel on steamboat's main drag is clean, comfortable and quiet with helpful and friendly staff. the Yampa river and trails/parks run right behind the property. and, heck, they have a retro neon rabbit sign! it's a little old - school, so don't expect luxury, but the room furnishings are modern and user-friendly. many rooms overlook the river and the sound of the water drowns out the very minimal road noise. there is a fridge and a microwave in each room for late night warm up of your leftovers from dinner. being here with the fur kid was great - they thoughtfully accommodated our need to be on ground level (turns out that Stella didn't care for the grated snow stairs) with easy access to the open space behind the motel. lastly, you are within walking distance to the shops and restaurants on Lincoln (the main street) and surrounding areas. there is a natural grocery store across the street, as well as the recreation center which houses hot spring pools. (note - the strawberry park hot springs about 15 minutes away via a partially steep 4-wheel drive road are rustic, natural and well worth the trip) read more
