I had such a great experience at the Alpine Shop in downtown Sandpoint! I've been riding in a pair of snowboard boots that turned out to be just a bit too small and my circulation was getting cut off. Someone on Schweitzer recommended I stop by the Alpine Shop and I'm so glad I did (side note: we were heading into town anyway or we would've just gone to the Alpine Shop location on the mountain). Susan in the retail department was absolutely wonderful and immediately set me up with Zach, the owner, on the equipment side. He was incredibly professional, attentive, and clearly knows his stuff. He asked thoughtful, detailed questions to really understand what was going on with my boots. Then he warmed them up and had me wear toe caps to stretch out the liners. While we waited, he even did a full assessment of my bindings and straps. Their attention to detail and genuine desire to help made such a difference. I left feeling so much more comfortable and confident about my setup. I highly recommend this shop, they will take great care of you! read more

Everyone at Alpine ski shop was extremely helpful and very friendly. A couple of weeks ago I flew from Los Angeles to Spokane on Alaska Airlines. TSA opened my ski bag and obviously didn't close it properly, because when it arrived at the airport in Spokane, my ski bag was shredded the ski clothes I had wrapped around my skis were destroyed and my bindings look like they've been dragged half a mile across concrete. My first morning at Schweitzer, I took my skis with damaged bindings into Alpine Shop and Gary helped me out. He selected the Marker bindings that were comparable to what I had, removed my damaged bindings and installed the new ones at only half the install cost after hearing my story. Thankfully, this was a Tuesday morning and Gary was able to get them done for me in just over an hour, so I could get out and enjoy the beautiful mountain and snow. While I was waiting, I asked one of the sales guys where I could find a drinking fountain. He walked me to the front of the store, went into a storage room. When he came out, he said they didn't have any water, but did have a cold beer and Asked if I wanted that instead. It was only about 9:40 in the morning, but hey, I was on vacation. He handed me a cold Rainier and didn't charge me anything for it. When my skis were ready, Gary had warned me that he suspected the skis may have also sustained some damage caused by TSA and Alaska Airlines. Three days later, a high-speed crash on Upper G3, caused one of my skis to literally break in half just in front of the toe piece. I took the ski into Alpine shop to have the new bindings removed. The Schweitzer Alpine Shop didn't have the Volkl M7 in the length I wanted, so they referred me to their Sandpoint location, where Zach Vollmer was awesome in helping me purchase a new pair of Volkl M7's and get my bindings mounted. It was a Friday and they were a bit busy, but they still got it done in less than an hour and 45 minutes. While I was looking around the shop, everyone else that worked there was super friendly and helpful. Along with my new skis and mounting, I purchased a new ski bag. I purchased ski boots from Alpine Shop this fall. With liners, the total came to over $600. After three days of skiing, the boots were killing my feet, so I went to the shop to request adjustments. The technician made me feel like an *** for coming in and returned my boots with a severely damaged buckle. When I went back to the shop to request that the buckle be replaced, I was told they would contact the manufacturer and would call me when they heard something. After three weeks of being blown off by the Alpine Shop, I called the manufacturer myself and a new buckle was in the mail the next day. I'll have my new technician at one of the many other area ski shops install it. read more

I was visiting family and skiing for several days. I had new ski boots that were making my feet hurt very bad. After one day I wasn't sure I could ski the rest of the trip. I went and saw Joe Hilber at the alpine shop at Schweitzer and he carefully listened to me. He made some recommendations for customer footbeds and said he could punch my boots out. The process didn't take too long and the difference was amazing. My feet were now comfortable and cozy. Joe said take some runs and come back if anything doesn't feel right, guaranteeing his work. I ended up coming back twice for minor adjustments. Joe is a Top notch boot fitter and I could not be happier. The boot fitting was a good value at $100 and the custom footbeds while a little pricey were worth the investment. I ended up needing a new pair of goggles as well. Everyone in the shop was super polite and helpful. If you have sore feet and poorly fitting boots go see Joe at the Alpine shop. read more

Purchased new ski gear from the downtown location from Joe. Great selection and great service. Went to Schweitzer and got set up to hit the slopes. Boots felt a little tight and stopped in at the mountain shop and Joe was working. Joe was able to fine tune the boot fit and they felt amazing. Will buy all gear from here again. I LOVE Alpine Shop! We stop in every time we come to Sandpoint, no matter what season. This Saturday, we checked out their 20% off sale. The lady working (I think her name was Judy) was SO kind and helpful. She helped me find a long dress-vest I had been looking for. She also helped me find a fleece to try on so I could be sure it fit over a different top. Every time we come in, the customer service is top-notch. I was in need of new snowboarding boots and since I was in my hometown for Christmas I wanted to shop locally. I went to the other ski/snowboard shop in town and immediately felt uncomfortable at the lack of mask on the employee there. Also wasn't greeted by them, and come to think of it I never have had a friendly welcome in that shop. Anyway, I headed to Alpine Shop where they've always been friendly and follow covid safety guidelines/mandate with masks and hand sanitizer. A friendly guy (Aiden maybe? Sorry if I didn't catch your name right) helped me out right away. I got the exact boots I wanted and was in and out in about 5 minutes time. I will continue to patronize local shops like this that show they care for their customers. Highly recommend this shop or their Schweitzer location. Thought Id just pop in and drop a review of a local business THE ALPINE SHOP... Back story is my son has raised pigs for 4h and saved every dime from odd jobs with the intention of purchasing a new Specialized Mountain bike. He did his research picking the color and exact model months in advance. Kid lives for riding. Big deal to the little man. When he finally gets the money put together we head down to the local Specialized dealer and pay for it and get the order in. Then along comes COVID. Then comes the massive freeze in Texas which crippled the plastic textiles market and slows everything down. Shortages on bikes across the country is the norm. We were told by Alpine that they were waiting to hear from the manufacture but not to get our hopes up. I then explained the lengths my son went to to purchase his own mountain bike and the owner and employees made it their mission to find one. And low and behold they did. It was from another dealer in another state but they handled the shipping and everything. I cant say enough about these guys and gals, they really made a young mans dream come possible and I know it wasnt easy. Thanks ALPINE! You have made lifelong customers. Keep up the good work.
