I went into Discount Tire on Alpine after work. I had gotten tires at another location in a different city 5 days prior. They installed my tires but did not balance them. I went back to that same location the following day to request they check the tires and balance them for me because I was bouncing all over the road. Well, they gave me my car back and didn't balance the tires. When I went into the Alpine location I wasn't sure if I would be received or sent away. The manager asked how he could help. I explained my issue and that I didn't want to go back to where I got the tires installed because my trust was violated twice. He worked me in and made sure he checked with me and the technician before I left. I was able to get on the road and drive without fear of my vehicle being out of control. Humbled because he could have sent me back to where I got the tires but he chose to take the opportunity for the betterment of the whole company and issue he got a driver back out of the road safely. Ive had many issues with their inability to do the job right. I again had issues with my starter that they say they replaced twice although it happened aginfpr the 3rd time ina few weeks. It wouldn't start again so once again I had to hace it towed this time to Lenz auto repair and they discovered they hadn't tightened the wires leading to the starter. Just a week ago I had to have it towed to alpine tire once again for the starter not working for the 2nd time in 2 weeks at the cost of $167 and then again I had to hace it towed this time to Lenz at $100. They finally fixed it i believe alpine tire owes me $267 for both towing costs which shouldn't have happened if they did it right the 1st time read more

I had to quick fit in fixing a flat. Unfortunately my tire was too bald to patch. Double unfortunately, they were "out" of used tires, so I had to get a brand new tire. BUT the price (for a single tire...) was not bad (compared to my last flat tire to new tire replacement at a different shop, I was in the same ball park). I didn't have much interaction with the mechanics, but when I was curious as to why the tire couldn't be patched and needed to be completely replaced, the mechanic walked me over to my car and explained "bald" tire/what is patchable and what isn't. For me - a car-illiterate - this was necessary and appreciated. As soon as we figured out that I needed a new tire, they quickly replaced it and had me on my way. Great customer service and I got the opportunity to chat with the owner a little. He was a super nice guy. As with business, there is always going to be someone who had a bad experience and these people are just people, occasional mistakes are made. Alpine Tire 2 These guys are completely incompetent mechanics and even incompetent to perform a simple tire change. First trip got in my car to leave and the entire front mat was completely covered in black oil and grease. Not just a shoe print but the entire mat. Thought ok, mistake noted, give them another chance. This is a TIRE STORE, If you have have factory chrome lug nuts (hum, most everyone) you'll see Will taking them off using a SLUDGE HAMMER to bang the English sockets onto the Metric lug nuts. So beware of them destroying all of your chrome lug nuts because as Paul stated and I quote that "ALL THEM OEM LUG NUTS SWELL UP!" Well, that's very true, but only when you're taking a sludge hammer to them! Them OEM dealers don't use sludge hammers. All my lugs were destroyed but just put back on. Great for changing a tire on the side of the road as others have mentioned! Main reason for visit was to install a simple $35 wheel bearing at a cost of $300. Instead of correctly installing the wire harness properly on the factory mounting points they zip-tied it down all over the place causing it to pull out a day later They used a non water-proof spin cap to connect 1/32" length of exposed wires together. When it failed next day they claimed it must need a new wire harness vs. admitting their mistakes. Unfortunately they just retied the original wire harness down again the same exact way. Next failure 1 day later. So my wife is driving a car in winter weather w/o ABS brakes or Traction Control. Wondering if their wives and kids are? Third trip in still trying to resolve a simple issue. So they redid the old wire needed replacement, claimed they did it. Fell apart again, same oxidized black copper wire still on car, lied about replacing it and that being the problem. I tried working with them to fix the situation. Took FIVE repeated trips, (one to a dealer to verify their screw ups) minimal 3-4+ hours each time for a 1 hour job in any shop or in my own garage. Dealer explained they DID NOT REPLACE the wheel dust cover because it took less time to throw it the trash! He also decided to toss the rubber seals for brake guide pins in trash at the time. Had to explain to them how to order a new one the following week. They put it on, only to discover it's the wrong part with no bracket for the ABS wire to clip onto. 5th. Time in that resulted in another disconnected wire a couple days later again! I gave up these guys and doubt anyone there has a valid mechanic's license that's actually working on cars, not Will for sure. Lied about verifying wheel bearing was bad and I again quote Paul that "they knew it was bad because they tore it apart to verify it was bad," right! Nobody tears a bearing apart to verify it's bad, another flat out lie period. My wife is driving a car with no traction control or ABS. MVSRA authorities will gbe paying their shops a visit. I'm speaking on behalf of my co-worker. He's too classy to not leave a negative review. But I cannot sit by knowing what they did to him. He went in to get a new tire on his car 3 weeks ago. They put on the wrong size tire. He thought "okay no big deal, just fix it". Wrong. Just a couple days later he went in and they asked "do you have a receipt?" He didn't. He had a bank statement and they had an invoice for their records. He asked to speak with the manager. He got the same answer from the manager - essentially, no receipt, not our problem. They drug him through the mud for about two weeks trying to upcharge him $58 for the correct tire (which remember they put on the wrong size tire). They tried to say "well how do we know you didn't tell us to put that size on there?" Showing that even if he had a receipt, then what good would that have done? They showed their hand, not caring about their customers. Finally, my coworker decided to just pay it. So he gets the tire replaced. They call him to let him know the car is ready. Get this, they tell him "we broke your tire pressure sensor while replacing the tire. It'll be ~$80 to fix that." They we're going to charge him for their mistake - AGAIN! So finally, after getting to talk to the OWNER, this guy tells my coworker - "we'll give you a free alignment". Oh wow! Great job! What is that? An hour of your tech's time? Not what he asked for! Again, my coworker was too classy to say anything online. Do not go here. He gave them 3 weeks of his time and hundreds of dollars to them. The whole time he tried to work with them, he was polite, professional and tried to work something out. They drug him through the mud and showed that they do not care about their customers. All over one single $58 upcharge. read more

Had my snows changed to my regular tires....when I got home two tires were ten lbs higher then the other two and a cap from one of the stems was missing. Called and was told, in a strong unpleasant voice,that it is impossible as they use precise equipment. I used my $1.19 tire gage and did check it 3X. They did offer to "fix" the issue, but I easily went to a gas station and put air in myself. BE FOREWARNED:..they do NOT MASK and are very proud of it. I will never go there again. read more

I bought a car off of my roommate that she was taking into this shop. She had bought new tires but they leaked to the point where the inside of one tire was shredded so she had to buy a new tire. Fast forward one year and I get the car only to have the tires still leaking. I took it back to these guys to give them a chance to fix their mistake (they say they cleaned the rims and resealed the tires) only to have a tire leak 9psi in a week. So I took it to another shop where it eventually got fixed. When the other shop told me what they did (they had to clean the rims) I realize I paid $15 a tire for what? So I called alpine tire and alignment to ask and address the situation and I get asked if I could bring it in because Paul wanted to look at my car. He looked at it and found a valve stem leak no one mentioned and repaired the valve stem leak without charging me. When I got home though I learned a whole new problem. I wasn't handed my key when I left the shop but I figured it was in my cup holder. I got home and went to lion for the key only to find it on my windshield. I could have very easily lost my key and not been able to drive my car due to the guy who backed it out of the bay not paying full attention to where the key was. Definitely DO NOT recommend going to this shop even if you think "oh they're prices are lower". Take my advice and please pay the little bit extra to take it somewhere else because it took three weeks to get one small problem fixed to have a new problem arise. read more

It started out great, quick and easy. Only took about 30 minutes for two tire changes and a rotation. Tires looked great. Then we had to drive home, about 20 minutes and in that time, my car was making a horrible noise and the car was starting to shake a little. We made it home, terrified but safely, and we get out to look at the tires.. this is where I wish we could give zero stars. THEY FORGOT TO TIGHTEN THE LUGNUTS ON ONE OF THE TIRES!!! They were so loose, I could move them with ease. The tire iron couldn't even tighten them until I finger tightened them. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. It was the most terrifying experience and I can't help but think what if? What if our tire came off? Or what if it happens to someone else and nothing was done to prevent it? I will never go to Brewer's Tires again. Period. read more

I am very pleased with this business. This is my second time coming here this year after hitting pot holes in our beloved state if Michigan. I have a demanding work schedule and do not have the time to sit and wait for hours like I would at other competing tire shops. Called and Received a quote from a nice lady That told me if I bought four Cooper tires that they were running a promotion and the alignment was free. Went in the next day the guy told me she was just covering for a minute and didn't know what she was talking about they didn't offer the free alignment. But it was still posted on their sign outside. I was trying to do business locally instead of the big box store so I bought four tires. Two weeks later I get a staple in my tire somehow in the sidewall. They won't do anything for me. $139 for a brand new tire that wasn't even two weeks old still charged me for mounting and balancing And tire disposal. Bad business!! NEVER AGAIN read more

Best Tire Store In Grand Rapids. I have been using Brewer's tire for a little over a year now and they continue to impress every time I go in. Their prices are fair and competitive, they have a newly remodeled clean facility, but bust of all they have an extremely friendly staff. They will bend over backwards to make sure that their customer is happy. My experience at the "big box" tire places has always been less than desirable. Only place I take my vehicles now to get alignments. Have a 1995 bmw 325i that other shops either could not do because of the equipment needed to do a bmw or places that could do it but wanted to charge a crazy amount for doing. This place did it at a fraction of the cost of other shops. Also have a lifted Jeep that has spacers on it and no other shop I could fine would do an alignment with the spacers on the vehicle. This place did it with no hesitation and no problems. Both vehicles were perfectly aligned. I just bought a Lexus off of craigslist and going to replace some front end parts so after I'm done it's a no brainer where I'm taking it to get aligned. Every time I've been there it's professional service at a great price. Thank goodness for this place otherwise I'd be stuck paying an arm and a leg else where. read more

Not a fan of this place. I live close by so I thought it would be convenient but it turned out to be an unpleasant experience. I brought my truck in to get new brakes. They fixed it fast, which I thought was nice at the time, and they told me they had given it a test run. I bring it in to work the next day and notice a burning smell. Thinking it was just kind of a new brake smell I brought it to work the next day, and that is when it went haywire. The front brakes seized up and started smoking terribly. I immediately call brewers to see what they can do, and the guy says "ya just drive it and it should come loose". And I'm like "are you sure!?" He's like "ya happens all the time". I took truck maybe another half mile to a gas station and the engine was just struggling to keep up with the brake seizure. I pulled over and called them again and he said "ya get it towed and we'll cover your bill." I thought ok that's not bad I'll just lose some time and some mild inconvience for being stranded for an hour. 3 hours later after I had towed it to brewers the same guy tells me it's all fixed and since it was my fault they they couldn't do anything about the $150 tow bill I just stacked up. He claims since we have Michigan weather that the parts he put on the outside of my brakes somehow alter the inside parts of my emergency brake (which I don't even use and never have touched.) After some bickering he made an offer of covering half the tow and handed me $75 cash. Thinking that was the best I was gonna get I accepted his offer and will now never return to this store again. If you're seriously considering this place because of the price I would strongly urge you to shop elsewhere. This isn't how a business should be run read more
