Absolutely happy with my sons haircut. He is 3 years old and can be a bit fidgety. The barber -Daniel was very patient and relaxed. He did a amazing job, every single time I thought he was done, he went back in and made it absolutely picture perfect. I normally go to a barbershop in Hoboken for him. Worst barber shop in the history of ever! Went there last week. The barber continued to spin me away from the mirror. I kept asking him to spin me back so I could see the mirror. He kept spinning me in the wrong direction. He didn't listen. He finally turned me around and totally took off all my hair. It was so bad I got up out of the chair and walked out in the middle of a hair cut. THIS IS A BUTCHER SHOP! The state of NJ should check the license of the barbers working here. I wish I knew the name of the barber who cut my hair and trimmed my beard. He's the built muscular Latino man in the corner window on Baldwin side of the shop. He did an incredible job! I don't have a lot of faith in jersey City barber shops but this guy cuts like a high end hair professional. His attention to detail is immaculate, his technique is super refined, and I like that he asked me exactly what I wanted and then repeated it back to me for clarity instead of assuming what I wanted. Appreciate that a lot. You could tell he has a lot of experience and respect for his craft and customers. His skills and professionalism makes him stand out. This is a straight up barbershop that pays attention to detail. I have been going to Olali for a few reasons, but mostly for his professionalism. He is true to his word, and is pretty accurate with his time. When you're in his chair he puts all his attention on you. The thing that impresses me most about each of the half-dozen, or so, barbers here is how consumed they all are with attention to detail. The shop's ambiance is geared toward guys. It's a fun, comfortable environment with couches to relax on while you wait and cold drinks in the fridge. There's usually a game on the TVs or a music video of some sort, so it's like you're in your own living room. I've been coming here once or twice a month for about a year now and always get my hair cut by Giovanni. He's a true artist! He's a great guy, too: friendly, professional, and always remembers the last conversation you had with him from your previous visit. He pays attention and treats you like a friend, not like a paycheck. Do not go here! Giovanni who was my barber was absolutely horrible. He literally called a bookie and organized a bet on a baseball game while cutting my hair. I can't make that up. My haircut took literally an hour for a high fade and he spent the entire time buzzing the side of my head and completely neglected to touch the top. I guess you get what you pay for. I would have given negative review if there was an option. They spoiled my hair cut. They guy who cut the hair had no clue what he was doing and he doesn't know english, he spoiled my beard, so i switched to french beard option, he spoiled that as well, and he cut my face thrice but never even apologized. I just moved here so was looking for a good barber shop. I saw the reviews, they were pretty good so I decided to make an appointment for 11 am on sunday morning. First of when I got there I told one of the guys I have an appointment for 11. he tells me to take a seat and wait. at this point there is only me and one other guy waiting. 5 minutes later two more guys come in. it looked like they knew everyone there as they were saying hello to everyone. now here I am waiting with 11 am appointment but they take their buddies first for a haircut. I was like ok you know what may be they had the same 11 am appointment. now it's 11:45 i'm still waiting for my haircut while half the staff is sitting there talking to each other. finally at 12:05 I get my turn. I tell the guy how I want my haircut. 3 minutes into cutting my haircut he tells me he will be right back. he went to the bathroom. comes back like 3-4 minutes later n starts cutting my hair again. few min later they get a phone call, he picks it up and now he is just standing there talking on the phone with someone for like another 5 minutes. then he goes in the back to give the phone to some girl who is working in the back room. he comes back and finishes my cut and tells me to pay at the register. worst freaking haircut and even worse customer service. never coming back here again. I would not recommend this place unless you want to wait while they cut their friends haircut first while you sit there with an appointment and at the end get a horrible cut anyway. read more

They take their time, listen to what you want, and execute it masterfully. You can tell just sitting there; they do shape-ups, designs, scissor cuts, everything with precision and care, like true artists. Clean spot, good crowd, down to earth and chill barbers, not too expensive, not to mention they're funny as anything - always an entertaining conversation going on somewhere around the shop.
