I moved to NJ recently and had no idea where to go get my haircut. I typically go to a chain called Floyd's Barbershop, but they don't exist here. Found this place on a quick yelp search and made an appointment with Sharise. I was late, but she was understanding and kind and truth be told- I got the best haircut in a very long time. This place is clean, everyone is very professional and I look forward to going back for my next haircut! A word of advice to those visiting - take an Uber or a Lyft. Been going here for a couple years and they generally do a good job with the haircut, but their prices keep going up up up. It was $30 just a year ago or so which was reasonable enough. $40+ for a men's haircut plus a tip now is far too much for a basic barber shop cut with no wash, no shave, etc. They also have introduced some kind of wacky tiered pricing based on who cuts your hair so it could cost you more than $40. So what, if I end up in the chair with a higher risk of a bad haircut I don't pay the extra? Do you not expect consistent quality in every chair in the place? Stumbled into this place after my barber down the street raised his price to $100 per cut. I tried Kris my first time and never looked back. He gives awesome cuts. He also listens to your request and pays attention to detail while still holding great conversation. Solid price too. This place has great stylists, but the management really needs a lesson in customer service. I used to be a regular, but no longer. I made a reservation for a haircut 2 weeks in advance, but the stylist had a personal emergency, which is understandable. However, instead of trying to make it right and bending over backward to help me, the management decided to nickel and dime me to try and get me to make an appointment with a more expensive stylist. I understand that in business things happen, but when they do, there is an empathy that you should be showing your customers, not taking advantage of them. Goodbye Hoboken hair! read more

My husband recently got a haircut and there were cuts all over his back neck as you can see in the picture. He also mentioned that they did not change the razor blades before using. I believe that the barbers should ask beforehand whether the customers want to clean the back neck with trimmer or a razor blade, which they did not! I don't think I'm going to let my husband visit this place next time because who knows what he might get infected to. read more

I was able to make a last minute appointment online, which I loved, they sent me a text asking a few COVID questions which I appreciate with what's currently going on. When I got there I was greeted with a smile and the girl in the front walked me through the check in process. My sons barber was Yen and he did a magnificent job! My son loved his cut and so did I. Never thought I would see the day where I felt I had no choice but to make a yelp account to warn others about a local business but here I am. I got a completely unsalvageable haircut from Hoboken Hair for Men, and the craziest part about it is what I requested is the most basic haircut a man can ask for. Buzz on the sides, trim the top. For almost $50 like they charge somehow this was too large of a request. And this is not the first time they've butchered my hair on such a simple request. I've been here multiple times now, to multiple people, and consistently they have managed to completely butcher the most basic request a man can possibly ask for. And what drives me up a wall about it is, the part my person butchered this time, they did not even show me. They specifically avoided using their mirror to show it and it was only later that night when my roommate pointed it out that I realized this. You could not pay me to return here at this point. I would take the train into the city to get a cut there before going back here. read more

Hoboken hair in general is a great quality spot with good people and good ownership. I generally enjoy my time there and the offering of products other than the cuts themselves are also very good. I would be remiss if I did not give a shout out to Peter, who's been cutting my hair for over seven years (how have I not left him a review yet?). I can say that I've never left an appointment not feeling confident. The attention to detail and the overall customer experience are what keep me coming back. He also listens when you speak to him about what you're looking for and always checks with you to make sure you're comfortable with the cut. I can't say enough good things about him. The continual price increases this place pulls are outrageous, and out of line for the average, run of the mill haircuts that they offer. Now over $50+ with tip, from what was mid-upper $20s pre pandemic ? Come on. Let me be clear: we're all well aware that prices are going up everywhere . . on just about everything. No question about it. But at some point it becomes excessive, particularly for a business whose costs probably haven't gone up much at the same time. You're not selling lumber here, where you might be forced to pass on the added cost to your customers. To drive this point home: when I called about the new prices, the girl that answers responds: "Yeah, the barbers got a raise". Got a raise ?? Paid for by the customers ?? Last I checked we're not the employer - the one that can or should be "giving raises". Well you lost this customer, and I'm sure many others. So much for the "raise", I guess ? read more

For $30 you get a premium hair cut here that is at the same level of quality as Marc Daniels ($40+) in my opinion. I get my haircuts from both Peter and Kris and they are both amazing! I've been going to Hoboken Hair for at least a year and a half now. I was really glad when they opened this location because I actually come from outside Hoboken and this is far better than walking all the way to 14th. I visit this location roughly every 4-5 weeks and while I do see new faces from time to time, there is a core group of stylists that I recognize every time. I'm usually looking to get in and out fast so I've done 'first available' virtually every time I've visited. Due to this I've probably had my haircut at least once by almost every stylist. Regardless, I've never had a bad hair cut and as the true judge, my fiancée agrees. I'm giving this place five stars because I've had consistently good service, never had a bad cut, the price is reasonable, the straight razor shaves are a great bonus and I wouldn't bother going to Hoboken just for a hair cut at a place less than five stars. read more

Have been to most other places (buzzcuts, 1st st barber, supercuts, Imago, Regis, Hudson Square Salon, etc) but this place is the best cut considering the $19 price tag. Destroyed my hair. He just ran the machine and made me near bald. He just did not want to listen - I am not sure if he was high on something or what! I just moved to Hoboken, and it was the first time I went to this place. I showed him a photograph of what I wanted, gave him clear cut instructions from my previous barber. He ignored all of that and just ran the machine across the top of my head. I was shocked - I was looking at a streak of bald patch across my head. They are not professional barbers instead they are sheep shearers - it does not look like they have worked on human hair before. I don't know how is this place still in business. He argued with me endlessly, trying to justify what he did. I wish I had picked a different place this morning for my haircut - now I am stuck looking like a bald man for next month or so. They do not understand how profound an effect a haircut can have on a person's life and they just take it lightly. I have to meet people colleagues, my clients, my friends - and I will have to endlessly justify to them why I suddenly went bald!! How is this fair - I wish someone would make them bald for a month and ask them to justify it to anyone whom they meet. Unless they do this, they will not understand the effect their neglectful behavior and mindless sheep shearing technique has on their customers. read more

I go out of my way to get my hair cut here and you should too! They've been cutting my hair for about two years and while I live around here, I won't go anywhere else. It's not super cheap (~$25 plus a tip) for a standard scissor haircut but my experience with Yen has been really great. Whereas in many other places I've felt barbers or hair stylists rush to get you off the chair quickly, he takes pride in his craft and really tries to get it right. He's also quite friendly and encouraging (when talking about work and life) but not overly chatty. They recently started accepting more credit cards (which is nice) but tips are expected in cash -- which is understandable. read more

I am very pleased with Hoboken Hair's new location. I called the 14th St location to get a haircut with Yoselin, and was told she was at the new location, which has been open for only 3 weeks. I have fairly simple desires when I get a haircut, but few people do a satisfactory job. I was pleased that Yoselin explained to the others on staff what she was doing at the outset, so there's a good chance they can learn to do this simple cut well.
