Definitely my new favorite go-to barbershop. Nino is very friendly and conversational, they play shows on the TV to keep you entertained, and the haircut looks great. One thing to note is that they only accept cash, so be sure you're prepared in advanced! They have couches for people waiting, but the wait time is fairly short. You know the classic hairstyle with a part? I just wanted it to be shortened. Instead, Nino shaved off the smaller half. SHAVED IT OFF! I couldn't believe it. I now have two options: a mohawk or shaving my head. I'm in my mid 30's and this is THE WORST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE! That speaks volumes. Avoid this place at all costs. Seriously. P.S. This guy truly will cut your hair exactly the way you want it without thinking halfway through, "Shit I don't like it like this but it's too late to say anything." Best fade I've gotten around the JC/Hoboken area and he doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Simple barbershop, but he takes time to make sure he cuts your hair right. Ok. I have to be honest writing a bad review sucks. But I also have to be honest to others. I live in Jersey City, Paulus Hook and this barbershop is NOT up to my expectations. First is a décor of this place, it looks very worn down, but not in a way that this is what the idea is, worn down in a sense, owner does not take care of the place. Cleanliness of this place and tools is a major concern. Barber and the haircut itself were really bad. At the end of the haircut I spoke to the barber and explained that this is not acceptable and I didn't see that that person cared for a second. If YOUR EXPECTATIONS are to be in a barbershop where they would have a nice décor, barber will speak with you politely and carefully take your directions on what haircut you would prefer - this is CERTAINLY NOT THE BARBERSHOP you want to go to. If you want to be cut unprofessionally with "questionable on how clean" tools - this is the barbershop. I always say that it is the after taste that matters and when I left this place - I felt like I wanted to rush home and write a review to let others know. Because when I looked online to read reviews about this place - they all were great reviews (I really don't understand then). And yeah - if you ask to get your hair washed - they don't even have an operable sink for that. and if you ask your hair to be hair dried - barber's answer to that was - it will dry by itself. (this is in Dec). So for sure - I do not recommend this place. And spend extra $10-$20 and you will get a much better experience. I wish I did that, but other barbershop in the area did not have available spots for me today. Learned my lesson the hard way. And I really hope owner of this place cares about reviews and I wish him to change it for better or close down the place, because business like that should not be in JC. Happy Holidays. read more

Friendly barber, average price, excessive wait, terrible haircut. I have short hair in a simple side part that I was looking to have tightened up a bit. During the cut the barber kept dousing my hair in some liquid so much that it was matted down when he finished. By the time I got home and dried my hair, it was very obviously lopsided. He left the side below the part longer than the top by nearly an inch and cut the hair just above the part shorter than the side. I rarely write reviews for bad service, but I would not recommend this business. read more

Guys, this is no frills, simple place to trim your hair (and beard) for under $20. The shop looks Old-World Jersey City but Nino (the owner and barber and one-time boxer) is a young expert, quick, attentive and friendly. It's on the corner of Coles and C. Columbus and you might miss the place since it doesn't have much of a sign, but if you see a pair of boxing gloves hanging over a mirror, you're there. read more
