AL'S Grill & Concession - Front of AL'S - American Near Me - Lemmon, South Dakota

When driving through on US12, I always drive into Lemmon to see the unique petrified wood park - an entire block on sculptures and buildings made from petrified wood. Last year I noticed a new business near the park - Al's Grill. So I stopped in and enjoyed a wonderful hamburger and fries... what a treat! Al is a friendly guy and a joy to talk with. Note that in the fall (I drive through in September), the place is closed on weekends. Check hours before going out of your way. And - an ultra clean bathroom. Bonus points! My cousin & I couldn't decide where to eat when we visited Lemmon last week. She saw this bright yellow garage looking place right by the Kokomo Studio of John Lopez. Let me tell ya: BEST place ever! The guy running the joint was so personable he could've been family. He was super accomodating: I wanted soft serve but he only had hard ice cream, "...but I have a shake machine!" My favorite kind! When he handed us the bag of food (a patty melt and a pulled pork), we almost dropped the thing, it weighed so much! Prices were excellent, we would've gladly paid half again as much for what we received. I wish him all the luck and good fortune in his business. He is truly a gem in Lemmon!
