I am tired of paying 4 times the price for plants at other nurseries, where you are paying for the extremely high overhead. Al's was a wonderful find, and I will return regularly. Terrible and everything was dead. The most unhealthy plants I have ever seen. The only thing that could survive that place were the cactus and even some of those were in rough shape. It may be seasonal and they do better with plant starts in the spring, but this time of year I would not recommend. read more

I love little nurseries like this. Plants that are just starting for very reasonable prices. I was looking for a specific annual (zinnias) and the employee gruffly told me she didn't grow them. That's okay but it was her attitude. I was trying to exit and she was blocking the aisle while telling her coworkers about the cop that cut off her and an entire line of cars. I quietly said he was probably going to a call. No, she said he didn't have his lights on. I said it might've been a burglary. Well, she stood there and argued with me. The irony is she is going to be the first one to scream if they need the cops and they don't show up quickly. I'll probably go back but will avoid her. read more

Bad service. Wasn't greeted, so I greeted them and then was stared at. The workers are not helpful or attentive. The selection is abysmal. Plants were shriveled. Prices are very cheap but most plant look like they'll die early bc they just don't look healthy. Quite possibly the worst "garden center" I've ever seen. read more

Large garden with tons of plants! You can find anything here. Forewarning, it's cash only! We perused the aisles until we found a few small plants we were looking to add to the house. There's lot of larger ones towards the back and on the ground. There's a super friendly black cat that followed us around and just wanted some pets! I was so happy to see that there is not a single negative review for this place. I grew up going here with my dad and loved it! It still has that same feel now as an adult and I absolutely love this place still. Such a great range of all kinds of plants, but I specifically love their end cap with their baby succulents and cacti. Great prices and the owner is super friendly. I do most of my plant shopping here and they have a great selection for being an independent nursery. Could not have more great things to say about this place. I finally stopped in Al's after driving by with curiosity many times. I was pleasantly surprised with the options for veggie seedlings! The prices were lower than most other places I had looked this season, so I was glad I waited. We left with tomatoes, peppers, squash, cantaloupe, and herbs...oh and marigolds too. Customer service was great. The very helpful woman running the cash register helped answer our questions about strawberries. As another review mentioned, they do have many kinds of heirloom tomatoes if that is your thing (it's mine!). Make sure you bring cash or check, as this is a no credit card establishment. read more

Friendly, family nursery that I willingly drive from Parker (75 mile round-trip) to visit 2-3 times a year. On any given day, there are $0.99 "starter" perennials, $1.99 tomato plants and $2.49 four-packs. I can buy two boxes of mixed annuals, perennials and maybe a small houseplant for around $40. Love the atmosphere and the attentive advice and service from the owners. TIP: Try to avoid the weekends, especially Saturdays, if you can. It's a pretty small place, but plan on spending 30-45 minutes there; there are plants hidden under benches, in corners, and all over the greenhouse. read more

Oh, super friendly staff and a good family-run business vibe. I walked into this place with a dying plant, and the owner's daughter dropped everything to help me find out what was wrong with it. She looked up things just to make sure she was right and was very friendly and helpful. When she didn't have th potting soil I needed, she suggested some other place. Not a lot of places will do that now days. I can't wait to go back as spring kicks into high gear-it sounds like they have a little of everything, and I want some perennials! read more

They know all there is about plants! The staff is super friendly, they don't even interrupt you while advising a fellow shopper, unless my info is wrong, of course. Their spring selection is awesome for someone looking to do potted plants. Everything starts from seed! What a great find! I was at another nursery that had run out of some tomato varieties I wanted and saw this place nearby on Yelp with 5 stars. Wish I'd stopped here first! Really interesting and extensive variety of vegetables and flowers. I haven't seen prices so reasonable in 20 years. Owners were super friendly. I plan to go back on a weekday when it is less crowded so I can look carefully at the perennial selection. It is cash or check only, and don't expect any little plastic signs telling you what you bought and how to plant it -- the name is hand written on the pot, so you can make your own sign when you get home. I came away with several tomato plants, an unusual eggplant variety, squash, two 9 packs of petunias, and some lovely Martha Washington geraniums, all for less than $18 (that's two tomato plants at Echter's). Al's is celebrating their 44th anniversary- I believe today!- and I absolutely love this family run store. They grow everything from seed at the location, not organically certified but only because the certification is so expensive for a small nursery like this. They use organic fertilizer, compost, and soil, have a wide variety of perennials, annuals, succulents, and edible plants for your home garden. They are super helpful with first time gardeners and experts alike, and their plants are crazy affordable. My first round finding this nursery I got two tomato plants, patty pan squash, Tuscan kale, and a couple others, and even with our depleted soil and my barely green thumb they flourished. I spent about $18 for everything. When the season's ripe they also sell corn and other vegetables. Seriously, it's our job as consumers to vote with our wallets and this place needs to be around for generations to come! It's truly a Denver gem. read more

She raved about their container recycling/discount program and their large selection, and explained that she has had much success, year after year shopping here. I visited Al's Pine Garden myself last week for the first time and was very impressed. First, it is a CASH ONLY establishment, but that was ok with me. I am a business owner myself and I understand their desire to avoid extra fees. This is how they keep their costs down. Speaking of cost. My friend was right. I have never seen better prices. They are selling San Marzano tomatoes that are 10" tall for $.99 and Hostas for $3.49! They had a huge selection with thousands of options. Wow! I stocked up on seedling trays and containers for my own starters at home. I bought 3 hostas which netted me with 9 total because each container had 3 nice shoots growing. While I was browsing there were 4 customers that came in and made purchases. Two of them had pretty specific questions about an issue they were having with a plant/garden and each one was given very thorough and correct advice to help solve their problem by the gentlemen at the register. He was very friendly, polite and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place. I will be back this fall for sure. : ) read more

This is a great little plant shop. Lots of native and xeriscape plants, and the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful when helping me decide what to plant where in my yard. The prices are lower than other plant shops I've checked, and everything I've bought here has flourished when planted at home. The initial presentation of the plants in the shop is not as flashy as at some places, but they're healthy, well-cared for plants that survive well and look great once planted and given some time to grow, which is most important to me.
