Pizza too greasy. I like the sandwiches & salads but the pizza has become way to greasy. Used to order there all the time but my stomach cant take it. The ppl are great & ambiance is too.A lot of ppl complain about the grease but still eat it bc the flavor is good but I dont have a gallbladder so cant. read more

Ordered a pizza for takeout from Al's a couple of weeks ago. It was a solid pizza. Not much for ambiance, busy takeout restaurant with a lot of staff working. The pizza was overall decent, well cooked and no issues. It didn't make my favorites list yet but it hit the spot! Looking forward to trying a specialty pizza in the near future. Thank you to Brian and the awesome team at Al's Pizza. I moved away with my family in 2001 and when I came home in 2014 I brought some Dagwoods back home on the plane. Needless to say they were soggy but still delicious. I have asked my family to overnight me some Dagwoods down here to Florida so we could have some comfort food that we always enjoyed. Well I got tired of asking so this past week I drove to Maine for the week and put an order in of 10 deconstructed Dagwoods to bring back to Florida. Let me tell you, I wish I bought more. After a splendid Christmas, I made plans to spend new years in Maine! My flight landed last night, and boy was I hungry when i got off that airliner! I found myself at this establishment, I ordered a classic cheese pizza just for me! it was absolutely magnificent. I had room for dessert so I went for a whoopie pie..... OH ... MY ... F**KING.... GOD! It was possibly the greatest cake dessert that i've ever consumed. I ordered more to-go and I am currently binge eating them.. (on my 9th) Wow... Thank you Al's Pizza! Solid place for pizzas and a variety of sandwiches. Great options for desserts with their whoopie pies and cookies. One downside is the veggie options for pizza seem to come frozen. We just stick with meat/cheese. read more

A family favorite! My wife grew up nearby and every time we're in the area we order from Al's and are never disappointed. We recently ordered their hamburger pizza and ate it in the restaurant, instead of our normal takeout, and it was even better when eaten fresh. The staff is always friendly, the food is always quick and good, the menu is huge, and it's an excellent value. We also tried the raspberry turnovers and they were excellent. Unfortunately, by the time we stopped by on Saturday morning most of the breakfast pastries were gone. However, we'll be back the next time we're in town. I grew up in Skowhegan, eating Al's pizza and Italians. In fact, when I crave a pizza or Italian, it's specifically Al's that I crave (or Cappza's). The food is always great, fresh, and made to order. When you ask for extra black olives on your Italian, they actually put extra, when so many people skimp. I haven't been to this establishment in awhile this is probably my third time here since they have changed owners. Their are still some familiar faces here, but it seems the quality may have dropped. I think their may be a change in some of the ingredients which has caused the quality to lapse. Very very clean place, I had a slice and a 6inch chicken parm sandwich. Both were very very good! Grilled chicken not breaded, tasty sauce on a small toasted sub roll. Everybody there had smiles and again very clean and orderly. They care about their place and what they serve. Menu was very simple, basically it was pizza, hot and cold subs, salads and some gluten free stuff. Next time I'm passing through Skowegan this is my go to stop. read more

Third Time's a Flop. Go to Fonzo's instead. Called in my order at 728pm, was told 20 minutes. Got there at 755, paid and am told 'It'll be a few more minutes'. OK, No problem. They start asking who made what order and realize mine's not being made at all. STRIKE ONE. While I wait around, several people come in and pick up orders of The same thing I ordered! STRIKE TWO. at 820, after the place cleared out, more confusion behind the counter leads them to ask each other why I'm waiting. They call me to the counter and hand me 2 boxes, one of which has been sitting since before I arrived. STRIKE THREE. I Did not enjoy my soggy stale nachos. read more

No matter what you order, everything tastes the same. They use the same overly sweet sauce on everything, and they cover everything in damp, diced onions and green peppers. Recently they have been skimping on meats and jacking up prices. The staff is very friendly, but the quality of the food and the high prices are not worth it. They do an excellent business because there are enough long-time locals who romanticize the place based on its "only game in town" reputation established in the 1970s, when hard-working textile laborers treated their families to pizza for supper on pay Fridays. And speaking of the 1970s, I know of no other place that still refers to pita bread as "Syrian" bread. They need to get with the times and update their cultural references. read more
