We were on a drive up in this area and i found Al's on Google. It was a Saturday for lunch and they were slow. The food was AMAZING and all home cooked! Lunch. Two couples (friends). Very impressed. Nothing fancy, just plain good cooking, good food and good friendly service. Server took the time to visit with our table and tell us about the place. Everything they can is in house made. (can you believe that?????) You can tell that when you taste the food you have ordered. I happen to be in Perryville this week on business and stopped by Al's Place for lunch. I was sooooo surprised at how good the food really was! I asked if the coleslaw was made by the restaurant, and Lois, the owner told me that virtually everything served there was made from scratch at the restaurant. The burger was much better than my home-made ones. It was really tasty. The sweet tea was perfect, and my waitress kept the glass full without me even asking. I wanted to take a whole pie back to St. Vincent de Paul's Parish for the staff, but found out that in order to buy a whole pie, you have to order it a day ahead of time. Too bad for everyone in the Parish - it was scrumptious. I had coconut cream, and the meringue was so high and toasted just right. Now I know why they take orders for whole pies - they would never have any for the patrons who eat at the restaurant! I will definitely be back to see them. I did notice that they serve liver and onions on the second Tuesday! read more
