Unfortunately, transmission developed a leak. Al's said they would fix it, but car was already downstate in MI. I sold the car to my sister-in-law. Luckily, we had stopped talking to her, because tranny failed again shortly after she bought it. So, no harm, no foul. But, I probably wouldn't go there again. read more

help me get the word out there that Al's transmission and Auto in Manitowoc Wisconsin is not a safe or reputable business to take your vehicle for repairs or servicing me and Marissa took our vehicle there as a referral from another auto shop that doesn't work on transmissions Al's transmission did not follow the proper steps they were supposed to send an estimate to the insurance company and get authorization to do work on the transmission instead they just went ahead worked on the transmission and then tried billing the insurance company and the insurance company said they weren't paying because they didn't authorize then they tried billing us for the work which we did not authorize we are now currently in the process of suing them for the vehicle and the unauthorized repairs and since the court case is now going they have went and placed a mechanics lien to take the vehicle and sell it instead of just owning up to their screw up given the vehicle back or waiting for the court case to be finished me being the nice guy that I am before all this started I tried working out a deal with else transmission Craig Lisa you name them and they refused I didn't want to see a shop get screwed over their money because they didn't follow the proper steps when they fixed our truck but they shot us down every step of the way that we tried finding some middle ground with them I can't emphasize this enough do not trust ales transmission and auto with your vehicle. While driving from the Chicago area to about 80 miles north of Green Bay to attend my Uncle's funeral, our alternator went out and we were able to make it to a gas station a few miles south of Manitowoc. They put us in touch with Hi-way 42 Garage who were honest and said they were very busy and wouldn't be able to fix it for a few days. They told me to contact Craig at Al's Transmission and offered their tow service to get us there. Craig said they could help out and even helped us arrange a rental car from Lulloffs Rentals to be dropped off at his shop. We were on our way and made our destination on time. The repair was done that afternoon for a fair price and we were able to pick it up on our way home the following day. I've known the folks there for about 15 years. Friendly, honest, down to earth family run shop. Three days ago my van, when pulling away from a stop sign, went "bang!" and didn't move. I wasn't sure if transmission or axle but thought, if it's transmission, there's nowhere else I would take it, so had it towed there. Next day they looked at it and found a broken axle shaft. Fixed the following day. Remember, I had no appointment. They worked me in and had it fixed in, actually, about 2 days. Great service by good people. Would highly recommend. read more

Worlds greatest! My truck broke down on a Friday night while I was traveling north from Milwaukee. The pinion seal on my truck let loose. I spent the night in a hotel and on Saturday morning I started calling around for someone to do the repair. No one, even the dealers would help me. When I called Al's, they were very pleasant on the phone, they explained that they would make time to repair my truck so I could continue with my journey. The repair was done in a timely fashion and correctly the first time. The way they accommodated me is the way I do at my shop, with respect and understanding that sometimes you have to to the kind thing and help someone that is stranded even though your day may be turned sideways because of it.
