I am writing a review and I am sorely disappointed. Not because of the work done, because no work was even quoted. My GF and I work professional jobs and it is not always easy to get time off. Today I was told that Al would come by. I was given a 30 minute notice call and I was sitting at my table working when he "came by" Now he claims to have knocked and rung the door bell. However the house next door is having roofing done so all you can hear is banging anyhow. For whatever reason he didn't call to verify people were home, he just left stating to get someone else. There are three cars in the driveway. I took time out of my day. So following my GF getting the text we called and were told Al was aggravated and he's not coming back. We have a tree that is cracked and leaning, we are going to get the tree cut one way or another. It is amazing to me to see a company actively push away prospective clients. I get that the owner was frustrated over a perceived miscommunication. I can tell you what I would do. If my prospective customer is not there, or appears to not be there I would call to let them know I am at the door. I spoke with a woman on the phone coordinating this, so they know someone is here and available... why not follow up if no one answers? All I can say is situational awareness and perspective matter. You saw and heard the construction next door, you saw the cars, would a simple text message hurt? I get that mix ups happen, but the ego you have to have if a customer immediately reaches out to clarify the confusion and you throw a temper tantrum. It is because of this I am writing this review. Something that squarely sits on the owners shoulders. So now I will have Newcomb come out instead, they at least show professional courtesy. You are not the only one who's time was inconvenienced. So if you are looking for a company that will be professional, look elsewhere this owner has a chip on his shoulder. read more

Today I had Al's Tree Service at my home to remove 2 white oak trees, prune a large white oak tree and prune a Maple and cherry tree. They showed up on time and did a terrific job his crew was excellent and even pulled a blockage out of the gutter for me. They were done before noon and other than the yard looking different it was cleaner than before they came. A great bunch of guys! Would definitely use them again. read more

I used Al about 18 years ago when I first bought my home. He did not disappoint when I had him back this week. He was still by far the fairest price. And when he said "when we're done you'll never know there was ever a tree here." That was above and beyond correct. I watched the crane and workers most of the morning but then had to get to work. I can't believe these bad reviews. They seem so much like the false, malicious, bad reviews that a friend of ours is getting, posted by friends of an ex-employee who was fired. We requested a quote from Al just before Christmas, about trimming branches that were scraping our house and also allowing squirrels to get into our attic. He gave us quotes for the trimming and also for cutting down the trees, since just trimming branches would not stop them from jumping the gap. I considered what to do, then had them come back for a detailed estimate and plan as to which trees to take down. He gave us another estimate, which of course includes all chipping and removal, and site cleanup. Despite having a big backlog, within 3 days he made room in his schedule to come out and take the trees, so that our ordeal with the squirrels could end sooner. They showed up at 7 am, worked non-stop for 5 hours, which included setting up a crane, boom truck, chipper, dump truck and flatbed to haul the logs out. They were skilled, got into very tight places with no damage to my property, worked around power lines carefully, and safely brought down three trees that were about 50 feet high and nearly 2 feet in diameter, a large trunk of a 4th, and trimming the side of a pine tree for over 20 feet up. They were very courteous and polite, cleaned the work area carefully with leaf blowers, barrels, etc. They even put down absorbent material for a very tiny hydraulic fluid leak on my driveway, which is in rough shape and would not have mattered, anyway. Their price was reasonable for the work done, and I can recommend them highly and without hesitation. read more

Very sad attempt to correct your errors. Simple to break down how you failed a customer. I explained my schedule and not being available for a personal meet. 3 other companies had zero issues. Task- prune trees to health. You say 40 years experience but you need help discussing what??? Your job, prune tree. Nothing a person to person meet could do. So much, I happened to be home when one other company came by, nothing new was said. Next, once I said I had others who can do a drive by YOU became belligerent and rude, stated your all set then. I laughed as I said others can do it. You were rude and upset I was getting quotes. Guess your afraid your highly overpriced. There's a reason you have such low ratings! DRAMA CENTRAL ... I have used Al`s before. This time he saw my trees and said 800.00 for 3 trees. I offered him 1,500.00 cash for the 3 trees. Almost twice what he wanted. His bid was contingent on my neighbor using him on the same day. My neighbor used Walnut. (In and out in 2.5 hrs.) Now they have to look at my job again (third time) when I had my fill of this foolishness, I fired them, and the crazy secretary called me back TWICE to get in the LAST word. This as the 2nd year I have gotten fire wood delivered from Al's. After being ripped off year after year from other wood guys, I figured i'd try this guy. The 1st thing that i really liked is, he has brand new trucks! That's big... not a 1976 Ford F150 with the company name written on the door with marker. The lady on the phone was super nice and said the wood would be delivered saturday morning. 9AM saturday Al's was calling telling me they were on their way. The wood they delivered was perfect! No rotted pieces and no dirt or other crap on it. I think it was all oak too. Nothing over 18 inches and nothing under 16 inches! I actually burned some of it that night The thing that most impressed me with Al's was the the lady who delivered it.. I asked for them to dump it in my back yard because I stack it in my shed. Last year she delivered it in 2 trips with a smaller pick up. This year because of the incoming storm she showed up with a much larger truck. i asked if she could still try and make it through my gate. After a few attempts she realized she was unable to make it through, my house is on 1 side and a tree that Al's is going to take down is on the other. She offered to take the wood back and deliver at a later date with the smaller trucks. That's awesome customer service right there. i needed the wood because i was totally out so i had her just leave it in the driveway. You want a real cord of solid wood? Horrible experience and I didn't even get the service done! They came for an estimate after a storm for a tree that had partially fallen on the neighbor's lawn and the rest of the tree was still standing, but unstable and extremely large. Per the owner, after being asked for a price, "I don't know" and "We came an did estimates here before and you hired someone else, so why didn't you call them back?" . Ummmm, salty much? You obviously didnt give me a good estimate the last time you came if I didn't choose to hire you. Extremely rude, condescending and arrogant. I would never put money in this person's pocket. You're right, I think I will go with someone else. :) Thanks for wasting my time. read more

Homeowners beware to this business! AL's Tree Service does not take responsibility for damages they cause. They do not right their wrong! How this business handles problems has to be considered if you decide to hire them. Al's Tree Service also does snowplowing during the winter months. We hired them for snow plowing. The driver ,Danny, plowed our driveway. We had markers placed. When the snow thawed we then noticed he ignored the markers we had placed. He plowed right thru our lawn. He took out one of our irrigation heads. I called the office. Linda said they are not responsible for any damage. She said they usually have homeowners signed a document acknowledging AL's Tree Service is not responsible for any damages however she says she knows I was not told upfront. After calling the office 3 times with Linda saying 'we'll get back to you' I asked to speak the the Owner, Al. She said she would rather tell Danny before talking to the Owner. Danny came out to look at the damage. He said, " that's nothing, I'll throw some seed down" I told Danny it wasn't a small matter. I told him "you dug up our sod and took off the irrigation head".... with the snowplow. I told him placing seed rather than the sod would be acceptable however the seed 'has to be' quality seed with a quality fertilizer. I do not want grass seed full of weeds. Additionally my irrigation head had to be replaced. So after a month, waiting, maybe that's why he never came back ... because he knew he would have to do it right.... he knew I knew the difference. How they handle this problem with snowplowing costing so much less than taking down a tree. So if they do not take responsibility for small matters, do you think they will take responsibility when they damage your property when taking down a tree? I'm writing so you know who you are dealing with ... these are not good business people to work with. Additionally, to be clear... I paid them...in full. Every invoice Linda sent me was wrong. Linda sent out invoices with one plow charge. I knew it should be for 2 plows... she sent out another for 2 plows ...should have been 3 plows ...I paid her for the two or three not the one or two plows charged. I'm honest... Terrible service, rude customer service, they're only interested in big jobs and blow you off if its just a single tree you want removed

This was by far the rudest most unprofessional business owner I have ever done business with. I will never hire them and will make sure if I know anyone who needs tree removal or any service like that, that I tell them NOT to use them. We had a tree emergency and the owner said he could come out, no quotes given. He got here and I asked him to just drop the tree, it's way more expensive to have them chip it or haul it. He SCREAMED and swore at me. Had it not been an emergency I would have thrown the sob off my property. He hauled the tree away to re sell the fire wood and charged me a fortune. He had my neighbors car blocked in and she needed to leave for work and he bitched about having to move his truck. I could go on and on, safe yourself the headache, never do business here. read more

We called Al's to see how much it would be to remove a tree that had fallen in a recent storm. We had cut it into pieces before hand all we wanted to know was if he'd remove the piecs and accompanying brush.. He shows up, sees the pieces, and proceeds to scream at my 70 year old father as to why the f@&$ he didn't call to tell him the tree was already cut. My father tries to ask him a question and Al says "NO YOU CAN'T ASK A QUESTION! I'M VERY BUSY" and gets in his truck and leaves. This guy was beyond ignorant to the point of hostile. Call Al if you want someone with anger issues who can't interact with other people on even the most basic of levels. Did we waste your precious time to the degree that you had to be verbally abusive to a senior citizen Al? After his disgusting behavior I'm glad he was put out. read more
